Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Rainy Night and UA

The rain started during Anim's walk home from the convenience store, fat drops that quickly escalated into a proper downpour. He ducked under a bus stop shelter, pulling his hood up as he stabbed the straw through his strawberry juice box.

"Tch," he muttered, watching water cascade off the shelter's edge.

Someone else slipped under the overhang—a girl about his age, soaked through and shivering slightly. Her hair clung to her face, obscuring her features, and she kept her eyes down as she wrung water from her sleeves.

Anim sipped his juice, studying her with the same casual assessment he'd give anyone sharing his space. She seemed nervous, though whether from the rain or his presence, he couldn't tell.

"Hey," he said after a moment, his tone carrying just enough amusement to be either friendly or mocking. "Is it just me, or are you getting wet too?"

The girl's head snapped up, her cheeks flushing pink despite the cold rain. She stared at him with wide eyes, mouth opening and closing in disbelief like she couldn't decide between indignation and embarrassment.

"Thought so." Anim chuckled—a low, genuinely amused sound—and pushed off from the shelter wall.

He walked back into the rain without another word, leaving her standing there with that flustered expression. His juice box dangled from one hand as he pulled his hood lower, already thinking about other things by the time he reached the next block.

The acceptance letter arrived on a Tuesday.

Anim heard Mina's shriek from three rooms away, followed by the sound of their mother bursting into tears. He found them in the kitchen, clutching identical envelopes with the U.A. seal, both talking over each other in excited fragments.

"—can't believe it—"

"—both of us—"

"—going to be heroes—"

He couldn't even discern what they were saying in their excitement.

His father stood in the doorway wearing an expression of pure depression of a tax-payer who'd just realized his insurance premiums were about to skyrocket.

"Well?" Mina demanded, shoving her letter toward him. "Open yours!"

Anim's envelope felt heavier than it should have. Inside, All Might's holographic face beamed at him with trademark enthusiasm, delivering the news he'd been expecting but somehow still found surreal.

"Welcome to your hero academia!"

"We did it," Mina said excitedly jumping around, grabbing his arm. "We actually did it!!!"

'She actually shrieked, damn.' ( xd, thought it'd be funny ngl ).

"Yeah." He folded the letter carefully. "We did."

That night, she knocked on his door after their parents had finally stopped crying and calling relatives.

"Can't sleep either?" she asked, perching on his desk chair.

"Too much caffeine." He didn't mention the dreams that he'd been having, fragments of battles and transformations that felt less like a common dream and more like a prophecy.

"I keep thinking about tomorrow. New school, new people..." She picked at her nails, a rare display of nerves. "What if we don't fit in? Like that other guy who denied us for our skin color"

"Then we make them fit around us." The words came out sharper than intended, but Mina didn't flinch. She grew up alongside him, she already knew his personality like the palm of her hand.

"Pst, easy for you to say. You don't care what people think."

"Neither should you." He turned to face her fully. "You saved someone from Gigantomachia. You even melted through robots in the practical exam. Anyone who has a problem with Mina Ashido can go fuck themselves."

Her smile was brilliant. "There's my asshole brother."

"Always there when you need me."

The first day of U.A. arrived gray and humid, the kind of weather that made uniforms stick uncomfortably to skin. Anim adjusted his tie as they walked through the gates, noting how the other first-years clustered in nervous groups or strutted with false confidence.

"Class 1-A," Mina read from their schedule. "Think that means we're the best?"

"It means we're alphabetically first."

"Hey! We should be optimistic."

They found their classroom easily enough—a massive space that dwarfed their middle school rooms. Students were already scattered throughout, some familiar from the entrance exam. The explosion boy sat in the back row, feet propped on his desk with typical arrogance. The engine-legged student from the train was engaged in animated conversation with him trying to make him show some discipline.

There were only some seats left, conveniently in a row Amin choosing the one behind his sister.

Suddenly a voice came out in the podium, "If you're here to socialize, you're in the wrong place," Aizawa continued, his sleeping bag somehow making him more intimidating rather than less. "This is the hero course. We don't have time for pleasantries."

A boy with green hair raised his hand tentatively. "Um, sir? What about the entrance ceremony? The guidance counselor said—"

[4th Wall torn, so... when I made Amin rescue Ochako the past chapter I kinda forgot that Deku entered that way, so since there was already a discussion about whether this was an AU or not, lets just say he saved another student in another area 👍. Honestly wasn't intended to be an AU but I'm too lazy to care either way (not that I can really make much difference an AU from a normal FF after all the butterfly effects, but anyway), enjoy!].

"If you want to become heroes, you'll need to push yourselves beyond normal limits. Starting now." Aizawa's smile was distinctly unpleasant. "Everyone, get changed and meet me outside. We're doing a Quirk assessment test."

Murmurs rippled through the classroom. Anim caught Mina's eye and saw his own thoughts reflected there. Day one, and they were already being tested.

"Oh, and one more thing," Aizawa added as students began gathering their things. "Whoever comes in last place will be expelled."

The silence that followed was absolute.

"Welcome to U.A.," Aizawa said smiling creepily. "Try not to disappoint me."

As they filed out toward the locker rooms, Anim found himself genuinely curious about what would happen next. These classmates, this teacher, this school—they had no idea what they were dealing with.

Neither did he, really. But that was half the fun.

"This is going to be interesting," Mina whispered.

"Yeah," he agreed, watching Aizawa's retreating form. "It really is."

AN: Hello! So... hehehehehe, yes, I put it MWHAHAHA... *Cough*, So, chuuni phase past, I enjoyed leaving it open for the fml but I still want to see what suggestion tha Sauron has in mind since its his idea originally (yes, don't worry, If I can't imagine a plausible outcome of both of them I won't write that fml, but I was thinking of a funny or interesting combination you may have thought of, yk?)

Ah, by the way, if theres no fml suggestion forget for the chapters, I doubt you won't read this EyeOfSauron so -.-... I know you've been WARNED.

Originally was only going to post a chapter that said something along the lines of putting pressure on that guy Sauron so that he tells me a fml, but saw the huge amount of people flocking in which honestly greatly astonished me since its not even something I thought that exciting. I also didn't watch much Dragon Ball so I maybe don't get much of the hype but oh well (DB is honestly good ngl, just not part of my childhood)

(what shocked me is that its around 115 book marks in only 2 days, something my other novels don't have except for 2... which have been for longer and have more chapters and are done better and with 3x times word amount...).

So I thought of myself to be magnanimous and gave ya the whole chapter! Surprise!

It's the first novel I write for just enjoying entertaining people, its weird man, weird. but hey 👍
