Episode 29: The Mark of the Moon
The night outside the Temple of Echoes was unnaturally silent. Not even the crickets dared to sing beneath the silver-stained moon.
Juvia stood beneath the towering arches of the temple, her fingers curled around the Moonblade, which now felt like an extension of her heartbeat. Ha-jun watched her silently, his chest still rising and falling from the fight with Kael.
"You said her spirit protected you," he finally spoke. "Does that mean⌠you're her reincarnation?"
Juvia turned to him, her eyes glowing faintly in the moonlight. "I don't know. But I felt her inside me. It wasn't just protectionâit was a memory."
Luna stepped forward, face pale. "You saw her final moments."
Juvia nodded. "She died protecting the world from Kael⌠and now he's back, consumed by his pain."
Ha-jun grunted. "So we stop him. For good."
"No," Juvia said firmly. "We find what's left of him. Before the shadow takes everything."
Suddenly, a sharp wind cut through the temple. The flames in the lanterns flickered wildly. Then a strange marking flared to life on Juvia's left shoulderâa crescent moon with swirling lines, glowing blue.
She cried out, falling to her knees.
"Juvia!" Ha-jun rushed to her side, catching her.
Luna's eyes widened. "The Moon MarkâŚ"
"What does it mean?" Ha-jun demanded.
Luna knelt beside them. "It's the seal of the Moon Warrior. Only the chosen one bears it. Her awakening has begun."
Juvia panted, gripping her shoulder. "It hurtsâŚ"
"It's your soul aligning with hers," Luna said softly. "You're becoming what you were always meant to be."
The light faded slowly, but the mark remained like a tattoo, shining even beneath her skin.
Just then, a noise echoed from the darkness beyond the temple.
A whistle. Then a voice.
"Well, well⌠the Moon's little pawn finally awakens."
Three figures stepped out of the shadows.
Rogues, dressed in black armor with blood-red sashes. Their leader had a jagged scar across his face and a twisted grin.
"Who are you?" Ha-jun growled, drawing his blades.
"The Crimson Eclipse," the leader replied. "We serve the Watcher. And we've come for the girl."
Without warning, they attacked.
Ha-jun charged to intercept them, swords clashing against curved daggers. Luna raised her staff, casting a protective barrier around Juvia. The rogues moved like wraiths, but Ha-jun was fasterâhis blades a blur of silver.
One rogue lunged at Juvia, but her hand rose instinctively. The Moonblade responded, unleashing a blast of pure energy that sent him flying across the temple floor.
The leader grinned. "She's stronger than expected."
"Leave now," Juvia said, rising. Her eyes gleamed with a fierce light. "Or I won't hold back."
The leader gave a mock bow. "We'll be back, Moon Girl. When Kael rises, you'll beg to join him."
They vanished into the shadows, retreating like smoke.
Silence returned.
Juvia sank to her knees, trembling.
"You were amazing," Ha-jun whispered, kneeling beside her.
"I don't feel amazing," she murmured. "I feel⌠scared."
Luna placed a hand on her shoulder. "Good. The Moon Warrior feared too. That's what made her human. And powerful."
Juvia looked out into the darkness. Somewhere out there, Kael waited. Broken. Angry. Dangerous.
But she would find him.
Not to destroy himâŚ
But to remind him who he once was.

To be continuedâŚ
