Chapter 1 - Run! Run! Run!

"Let's leave quickly. Emperor Zephyr and the Empress Borealis are pursuing closely," a youth in dazzling scarlet robes spoke gravely.

In his hands was a quite beautiful but young girl he dragged as he scampered. From the sound of their heaved breaths and gasping, it was evident the two had been really running for a long period of time.

"Big Brother Chen... I really can't hold on any longer," the pale-faced little beauty spoke up in a weak voice.

Her breathing was in a mess and a gash of blood dripped from her lips. Her white martial robes were spotted in blood in a few corners as she continued weakly.

The scarlet-robed youth was a dazzling Half-Saint, and so was the little girl in his hands. But the two seemed spent after being chased by the two Saints mentioned above.

The handsome youth with jet-like hair flowing down to his face was Mu Chen. The little beauty next to him was his little sister, Mu Yue.

Mu Yue's pale and bloodied robes could not take away the otherworldly might she was naturally endowed with. And Mu Chen as well portrayed a strange demonic radiance, with his blade's sheath falling to his side casually.

But what on earth could be making two cute youths like Mu Chen and his sister scamper for their lives like there was an apocalypse?

It was quite a long, long story to tell—and judging from their spent state, their pursuers wanted them dead or close to death.

Looking at the feeble hands that were trembling in his grasp, Mu Chen felt heartache for his sister. Compared to his composed might and demonic charm, his sister could be said to have been a little inexperienced in bloody matters.

"Yue'er, you don't have to sound like that... Don't worry, once we get to your master, it'll be over," Mu Chen comforted with a tranquil smile.

"Really?" Mu Yue squinted her beautiful, watery phoenix eyes and sobbed lightly.

Mu Chen gave a nod in the affirmative.

Mu Yue seemed to have calmed down at this moment, and her heart felt calm. All the psychic torture from the last few days seemed to have gone calm.

Her big brother was comforting her—to see a ray of hope in survival, and that she wasn't hopeless after all.

Her master was still the Heavenly Profound Great Saint. There was still light at the end of the tunnel.

With those thoughts, she warmed up a bit and nodded as well.

Wiping her moistened face, she revealed a rare smile that glistened her appearance.

Mu Chen felt satisfied with her current state of mind, as he could now focus on averting the danger from Emperor Zephyr and Empress Borealis.

SWEESH!

Mu Chen put out his hand and the both zoomed off from their surroundings without leaving a trace.

Not long after, a strong force of wind descended on the surroundings.

The wind was fierce—like the natural storm preceding rainfall.

But at this time, instead of rainfall, frost crystals plummeted downwards in a hurried pace. Snow fell like it did in winter, contradicting the bright sun of summer reflected in the clouds.

The slowly falling snowflakes seemed to complement the fierce wind that was blowing wildly.

"These two are quite interesting to seek for the Heavenly Profound Saint Emperor... I wonder the looks on their faces when they meet the resting old man, haha!"

An unknown voice suddenly quaked in the surroundings.

This 'visitor' seemed to have been existent in this environment for quite some time before now.

RIP!

A sound of fabric being torn apart echoed in the void, causing a gashing circle to appear out of nowhere.

PLOP!

Two figures shrouded in mysterious golden light descended at the same time.

After they arrived, the light shrouding them slowly dispersed to reveal their stunning looks.

The two figures just now were actually an 'ordinary' man and woman that seemed quite feeble.

But the moment the two descended, everything around them seemed to mute for a while. It was the kind of pressure released from a supreme being that presided over the life and death of countless beings.

It was the pressure of a Saint Emperor!

Although little, it wasn't negligible all the same—and the feeling they gave one was that of mystery and a strange imperial temperament.

They looked extremely unique, but their looks contradicted one another.

The man had a delicate and smooth spherical face while his earth-brown hair fell across his shoulders. He seemed like a peerless youth in his prime, and he gave off a dazzling starlight from his gaze.

He was in a casual blue robe, radiating a holy aura not from the mortal world. His figure was as solid as it was distorted—like an ever swirling tornado.

The woman, on the other hand, was dressed in light silver robes with darkened silver hair fluttering in the wind. No speck of dust could taint her, as she deflected a strong pressure that could keep all things at a certain distance.

She had a cold and indifferent look as she gazed towards where Mu Chen and his sister had headed.

A strong icy might was released from her that seemed to even freeze the entire space in a second.

Who were the two?

It was undoubtedly the two half-step emperors looking for Mu Chen.

The Emperor Zephyr and the Empress Borealis had always been here.

They could make a move at any time, but the two Half-Saints couldn't detect their presence.

"Xue Ying... What do you think huh?" the Emperor Zephyr asked with a smile.

"Feng Yin, this Mu Chen isn't an easy person at all, although his sister seems to be dragging him down. If the rumors are true, then we truly can't guarantee an unscathed return. If the divine weapon in his hands can be activated, then for sure any Saint below the Monarch Realm wouldn't be able to keep their lives," the Empress Borealis spoke, sounding very weary of Mu Chen.

The Emperor Zephyr also fell into deep thought.

"The Priest had already predicted this event beforehand… and it seems that a bloody slaughter would truly descend. It's best if we stay out of this for now and let Lord Veridian and the Five Elemental Sovereigns test it out first.

It wouldn't be bad to render a few sacrificial lambs for the achievement of the Dark Sovereign's mission," the Emperor Zephyr blurted out afterward with a smile.
