My view changes from one of running from a wolf to a peaceful landscape. My body is standing on water, looking deep blue. Ripples slowly moving away from my feet as I stand there. My eyes move to look around me. Noticing that the sky is all the same. Light blue with a hint of clouds.
The light blue sky along with the clouds go on forever. At least that's what it looks like. Going from the horizon all the way up. But there's more than just the sky. There are crystal orbs, well looks like orbs. It seems there are things moving on the inside of the orbs. Each orb is different in size. Some being small some being larger and they are all floating around.
How are they floating? It doesn't make sense. Things just don't float randomly. I start to move closer to one of the floating orbs to get a better look at it. As I do I notice that it looks like a kid inside.... What is going on??
I look around again to see why everything keeps changing. In the far off distance there looks to be blackness. It looks to be alive? With smoke like darkness moving around, I faintly see orbs floating in there. But the orbs are so dark I can't see anything in them.
I look back at the orb that I first saw, and it has moved a bit. Floating freely like it has no worries. I wonder what it feels like or what would happen? My hand moves toward the orb, as soon as I touch the orb I see the orb expand.
The movement that is going on in the orb expands with the orb. It is a scene? Or looks to be a scene in a play? As I watch I notice something interesting. There is a boy that looks just like me.
I see a boy that is in a market? Market stalls line a cobblestone road. Many people are moving about buying things in the market. My eyes focus more on the boy to watch what he does. His hand reaches up to grab a piece of bread. Once he grabs a piece of bread he takes off running.
"Thief! You brat! Get back here!"
The man behind the bread stall quickly chases after the boy. But the boy weaves in between the people in the market. It's like he has done this many times before. After a quick 15 ish seconds the man stops chasing the boy and heads back to his stall. Grumbling along the way about losing money from the bread the boy stole.
I look back at the boy, and it seems that I am following him? Or this scene seems to be following the boy and I'm just along for the journey? As the boy gets further away from the market he runs down an ally. He hits puddles not trying to miss them like he is in a rush.
Well I expect him to be, I wouldn't want to get caught stealing either. As I watch more I see the boy go up to a pile of trash? No it's not trash it is 2 small kids looking between the ages of 5-7.
"Here, have some"
The boy breaks off half of the bread and gives it to the 2 small kids huddled in the corner. The little kids eyes get really wide, like they saw the most expensive thing in the world. The little kids reach out to grab the half broken off piece of bread. Their hands or just bones with skin! I am horrified to see the kids be so skinny.
The boy gives a smile then quickly moves on from the kids, not wanting to draw attention to them. He quickly gobbles the hard and grainy bread, hitting his chest a few times to get the bread to go down. Then he walks back out onto a different street. That's where the scene ends and I am back to the place I was before.
... What was that? It felt too real to be a scene in a play. Also what is this place? While I am thinking to myself I see that the orb that I touched is gone. It wasn't the biggest orb, kinda a small one. I reach out for another small orb to see what scene I see this time.
I touch the next or and wait for the orb to expand and show me a new scene. I see the same boy from last time. But he is sitting down on a cobblestone sidewalk. He has a tin can in front of him. A building behind him where he rests his head and back against. People walk by and give disgusted looks at the boy for being filthy and smelly.
'Clop Clop Clop'
A horse and carriage clops by in the middle of the cobblestone street, everyone getting out of the way from the carriage. The carriage stops in front of the boy. He looks up confused why someone so wealthy would stop in front of him. He watches as a young noble lady gets out, helped down by the carriage driver. She's wearing a dark blue dress that goes to her feet. Some jewelry that is silver in color and her hair up.
When I go to look at her, her face is blurry like I can see her actual facial features. She then crouches down to give the boy something.
"Here's some coin, I feel bad that such a handsome boy is begging on the streets."
"Thank you miss"
He bows a bit thanking her for the coin that she gave him. It makes him excited he got something even if it was just a coin. But he still hasn't looked to see how much she gave him or what coins it was. Was it copper, or silver? Slight excitement in his eyes. Or even the fabled gold coin? He looked down into his cup and it was 5 copper coins. Not worth much but more than any currency he has had before. The excitement slowly died, thinking he would have gotten some gold coins.
The lady gets a faint smile as she turns around and heads back to the carriage. The horses take off with the carriage in tow. When the carriage passes by me I see a coat of arms on the side. It is a sword and shield. I wonder which noble family it is.
The scene once again abruptly ends. I ponder what these scenes mean when I see a fairly big orb. Much larger than any I have seen or touched so far. Without thinking I move forward to touch the big orb.
I see the boy again, but this time there is life in his eyes. He doesn't look like he is going through the motions of daily life. What is he looking at? I look around the scene and see that the boy is looking in one direction.
What he is looking at is a large castle looking structure. Many hundreds of feet in the air, are towering peaks of blue roofs that taper off into spires. The building is equally long as it is tall, with stained glass in windows. Two large dark doors at the very entrance looking extremely expensive.
But all of this is hundreds if not more feet away from me and the boy. Before we can even get close to the building there is a massive gate and wall. Both the gate and wall reaching tens of feet in the air. Making sure that no one can get in easily. Plus 2 guards in armor In front of the gate.
I pan back to the boy, excitement in his eyes along with longing.
"Get lost boy! You know your commoner scum will never be allowed in here! Now get on git!"
One of the guards yells at the boy and the light in his eye immediately dies. The faint smile on his lips went just as fast. He takes one last look at the castle-like building and walks away.
The scene slowly fades this time, the scene going back into the orb and then turning into shiny little particles that float up, and disappear. My eyes follow the particles wondering why the orb would shatter and float up. As my eyes come back down, I see a massive orb. It wasn't here when I started.
It is almost as tall as me! I wonder what this one has for a scene. I walk up to the orb and touch it.
The first thing I notice is that I'm peering down like I am some type of god, watching as the boy with white hair stumbling and running. He looks frantic, like he is running from something. I look behind him and see nobody, but there is a large building with many windows. Some kids outside playing with each other. All wearing the same clothes as the boy.
My eyes then go back to the boy as I follow him running from the building into some woods. Still stumbling, but looking a bit more coordinated. As time passes I see that his tunic is getting redder and redder. Is he cut? Or bleeding from somewhere I can't see?
Time going from bright and hot mid day, to dusk. The whole time the boy was running, not stopping, but he was slowing down from exhaustion. It looks so dark in the woods, I don't know how the boy can see. And well my thoughts play out with the boy tripping and falling down a hill. Rolling and scraping his already battered body.
After a few minutes or so the boy gets up. He looks around to see where he is and he sees a building that has fallen apart. Overgrown with vines and plants looking like it has been abandoned for a very long time. He hobbles his way to the building.
He must be going to the building for shelter I think. No way he would just walk to any random building... right?
The boy hobbling his way into the building looks around and notices that there is no roof. He lets out a sigh and leans against one of the few remaining walls. He rests his head back against the wall, as his whole body is screaming in pain. Once he rests for a few seconds his body starts to slump to the side, eyes closed and very shallow breaths. His body hits the ground with a quiet thump.
Within a minute after the boy falls over a blinding white light erupts from the center of the building. Illuminating the forest and sky around it. The boy's clothes go back to how they originally were. Clean... That's it just clean.
Then the boy disappears, and a second later I do too. The boy ends up in the middle of a forest, where the time is mid morning. As I watch the boy I realize his chest is not rising up and down anymore. Not even shallow breaths.... Did I just watch the boy die?
