Chapter 20 - BREAKING BARRIERS

Alexander parked outside Pamela's apartment, his heart

pounding as he gathered his thoughts. He had decided to come without her

knowledge, driven by a desperate need to see her again. He couldn't shake the

feeling that they had unfinished business, and he was determined to clear the

air.

As he approached the door, he hesitated, taking a deep

breath to steady his nerves. "What if she doesn't want to see me?" he thought,

but turning back was not an option. He knocked softly, then waited, his heart

racing in anticipation.

Moments later, the door creaked open, and Pamela stood

before him, her eyes wide with shock. "Alexander? How did you find me?" she

asked, confusion and surprise washing over her face.

"I—" he started, but the words tangled in his throat. "I

needed to see you."

Her expression hardened. "Did Mia tell you where I was? Is

that how you found me?"

"No, it's not like that!" he exclaimed, trying to explain,

but he didn't reveal the truth about the investigator. "I just wanted to know

how you were doing."

"How did you find out about my whereabouts, then?" she

pressed, suspicion creeping into her voice.

"I… I just wanted to talk," he said, his voice earnest.

"Please, let me explain."

Before he could say more, she stepped back, her emotions

swirling. "I can't do this. Just go," she said, her voice firm.

"Pamela, please!" he called, desperation creeping into his

tone. "Open the door! This isn't how it ends!"

But she shook her head, tears welling in her eyes. "No,

Alexander. You need to leave."

With a heavy heart, she shut the door behind him, the sound

echoing in the hallway. As the finality of the action sank in, she leaned

against the door, tears streaming down her cheeks. Memories flooded her

mind—his smile, the warmth of his touch, the moments they had shared. But the

hurt and betrayal felt too fresh, too raw.

Outside, Alexander stood in shock, his heart sinking.

"Pamela, please!" he shouted, his voice filled with emotion. "Everything you

said that night was a misunderstanding! I don't have anything to do with

Victoria! I was lost, but I've figured things out. I want you!"

"Stop!" she cried from behind the door, her heart aching.

"You don't get to come here and say those things after leaving me behind

"I didn't leave you! I was confused," he insisted,

frustration lacing his words. "I thought I was doing the right thing by staying

with her, but it was never about her. It's always been about you!"

"Then why are you here now?" she shouted back, her voice

trembling. "You can't just show up and expect everything to be okay!"

"Please!" he pleaded, his voice cracking. "Let me explain.

I'm fighting for you! Just give me a chance to talk!"

Silence enveloped them for a moment, both lost in their

thoughts. The weight of their shared history hung heavily in the air. Pamela

pressed her palms against the door, feeling the intensity of his presence on

the other side.

"Do you really think I can trust you again?" she whispered,

her voice breaking.

"I want to show you that I'm still here!" he shouted,

desperation creeping in. "I can't walk away without trying!"

"Then you should have thought about that before!" she

replied, anger and hurt intertwining. "You made your choice, Alexander!"

"Pamela, please!" he urged, his voice softer now. "Just let

me in. I need you to know how I feel!"

Tears continued to flow down her face as she listened to

him, the conflict within her growing. As the silence stretched, she felt a mix

of pain and longing.

"Open the door, Pamela!" he cried, his voice filled with

desperation. "I'm not giving up on us!"

Finally, she took a deep breath and stepped back from the

door, her heart racing. "I need time," she said, her voice steady but filled

with emotion.

"Take all the time you need," he replied, his voice

softening. "I just wanted you to know that I still care."

With that, the sound of his footsteps faded away, leaving

her alone with her thoughts. As she leaned against the door, tears streaming

down her cheeks, Pamela felt the weight of their unresolved feelings crashing

over her. The path ahead was uncertain, but she knew one thing for sure: their

story was far from over.
