Chapter 7 - Where am I?

Drake gently placed the girl on his bed, making sure she was comfortable. Carefully, he cleaned her body, taking extra care as he dressed her in fresh clothes. Once she was settled, he covered her with a warm blanket, ensuring she was cozy. After that, he went to the kitchen and cooked porridge, hoping she would feel better and have something comforting to eat.

He quietly returned to his seat, watching Selena as she slept. He couldn't help but feel a sense of protectiveness over her, even though she was clearly struggling with something deeper than just her physical injuries.

An hour passed, Selena woke up. She blinked a few times, looking around in confusion. The room seemed unfamiliar, and for a moment, she couldn't remember how she ended up there.

Her brow furrowed as she tried to sit up, but her body was still weak. "I don't understand... How did I get here?"

Drake hesitated for a moment, choosing his words carefully. "You were in trouble. I brought you here to keep you safe."

She looked down at her body, confused as to why she was now dressed. Before she could say a word, he gently placed a hand on her arm to stop her from speaking.

"I didn't touch or harm you. I just put some clothes on," he said, his voice calm and reassuring.

She nodded slightly, still processing everything, but the tension in her body eased a little.

"I'll get you some porridge," he added, standing up and walking toward the kitchen.

She struggled to sit up, determined to eat on her own.

"Thank you. I'm Selena, and you are?" she asked, her voice still weak but filled with gratitude.

"Drake," he replied softly, placing the small table carefully on Selena's lap. He adjusted the porridge just right, making sure it was easy for her to reach.

"Take your time," he added, stepping back but staying close in case she needed help.

"Thank you for saving me, but I need to go back to my family. I'm sure they're worried about me so much,"

Drake quickly moved to her side, gently placing a hand on her shoulder. "You're not in any condition to leave just yet," he said softly. "You need to rest and recover first. Your family will understand."

"I just... I need to make sure they're okay," she whispered.

Drake said softly. "I'll accompany you to your family when you're ready."

"No, you can't," Selena replied, her voice strained with both fear and determination.

"Why not?" he asked, his concern growing.

"There are people chasing you," he explained, his eyes filled with worry. "And if they catch you again, they'll kill you for sure. You've already been through so much. I can't let you go alone like this."

Selena shook her head, her voice quiet but firm. "I can't let you accompany me to my family because of personal reasons. I hope you understand."

Drake sighed, his resolve softening. "Okay, I'll accept it. But I won't let you go home in this state. When you're fully healed, then you can leave."

Selena didn't argue, knowing there was no point in pushing it. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
