Souta wakes up in a white room.
Not warm. Not cold.
Just. empty.
Kamiki's in front of him, smiling quietly.
"You look just like her."
Souta's expressionless, stares.
"If you wanted me dead, you would've done it already."
Kamiki sighs.
"I don't want you dead, Souta-kun. I want to save you. You and Yume. You're gods among men. You shouldn't waste your light on insects."
Souta's voice is hushed.
"My light belongs to my family."
Kamiki laughs softly.
"Then let's see how bright it burns. when they're taken from you."
Aqua follows Kamiki to a secluded retreat in the Shikoku mountains. He's irresponsible. Almost gets himself killed.
But someone else finds him—Takaoka Yume.
She sensed Souta's energy like a guiding star.
"I don't care if I lose control," she tells him. "I'll burn the sky if I have to."
They move as one.
Yume's voice distorts wind. Aqua's gaze slices through deceptions.
They infiltrate the cult compound.
They locate Souta, feeble, but smiling.
"Took you long enough."
But before they can flee—
Kamiki emerges, knife to Ai's throat.
She had arrived alone, following her son's heart.
Kamiki vows to murder Ai.
He forces Souta to use his abilities and blot out the world's recollection of the Hoshino family.
"Let me rewrite your story. The world doesn't deserve you."
Souta shudders.
He could click his fingers and make it all cease. End the world. End pain. End it all.
But Ai advances.
Her voice, strong. Level-headed.
"Souta. You don't have to be a god. You don't have to save anyone. You just have to go home."
Kamiki's fist clenches.
And Yume screams.
A sound that tears the air asunder.
Lights explode. Time breaks. Kamiki falls, blood gushing from his ears.
Souta looks at her, amazed.
"You shielded her… with only your voice."
She whispers, trembling:
"Because you shielded me first."
They flee. Kamiki is discovered unconscious, in custody. The cult breaks up—its members intimidated by Yume's unleashed voice and Souta's peaceful anger.
Souta is home at last.
Ai hugs him for hours.
Ruby never releases his hand.
Aqua, for once, laughs.
"Next time you get kidnapped, leave a note."
Souta smiles.
"You'd just read it out of my brain anyway."
The world starts to forget once more.
Yume and Souta ensure that.
Just enough to protect their family.
Not gods. Not monsters.
Just siblings. Just children. Just loved.
Months go by.
The triplets become 16.
Yume lives close by now. She sings softly, to herself more than others.
Ai goes back to the stage part-time, older but radiating a peace she never possessed before.
And Souta?
He no longer fears his ability.
He no longer fakes being "normal."
He simply selects.
Daily, he selects love.
