The tension from the living room followed me like a shadow as I climbed the stairs with Liam. I could still feel Rhys's eyes burning into my back, and the weight of his gaze made my skin prickle uncomfortably.
"We should go upstairs to the library," I suggested to Liam, desperate to escape the suffocating atmosphere. "It's new—my mom and Alistair had it built for me when they renovated."
Liam's face brightened, seemingly relieved by the suggestion. "That sounds perfect. I'd love to see it."
As we ascended the stairs, I glanced back once and caught Rhys watching us from below, his dark eyes narrowed. I quickly turned away, my heart hammering against my ribs.
