Chapter 100 - The Question That Hangs in the Air

The party's energy buzzed around us, but in our circle, playing this game of truth, time seemed to stand still. I sat on the floor across from Rhys, my legs tucked awkwardly to the side in this too-short black dress. I was intensely aware of how much skin I was showing, especially with Rhys's dark eyes occasionally drifting to my exposed thighs.

The question he'd just asked hung in the air between us: "If I kissed you right now, would you kiss me back?"

My heart hammered against my ribs. Everyone was watching, waiting for my answer. Liam's hand tightened protectively around mine.

Before I could answer, Julian cleared his throat. "Let's keep this moving, folks. Game rules say you spin again if the bottle lands on the same person twice in a row."

Rhys shot him a murderous glare, but Julian held his ground. "Your party, your rules, but that's how the game works."

"Fine," Rhys growled, reaching for the bottle again.
