Valerius Alaric slammed his fist into the mahogany desk, making the crystal decanter bounce. His eyes, glowing an unnatural amber, remained fixed on the television screen where Kaelen Thorne and his supposed mate continued their nauseating press conference.
"A fucking sperm bank mix-up?" he snarled, reaching for his whiskey and draining it in one gulp. "And they're actually buying this garbage?"
On screen, Seraphina Moon smiled demurely, her hand resting protectively over her swollen belly as she finished explaining their "love story" to the captivated press.
"It was the most unexpected gift from the Goddess," she was saying, golden eyes wide with sincerity.
