Chapter 4 - chapter Four

After that first meeting at the café, Diana couldn't stop thinking about him. At first, she convinced herself it was just a fleeting curiosity, a spark of interest in the midst of her monotonous routine. However, with each passing day, that spark grew stronger. Sometimes, while she worked, she found herself scanning the crowd for a familiar pair of eyes, hoping to catch sight of him at the café or along the streets she crossed.

She realized she wanted to hear his voice again, to feel that strange, effortless connection she had experienced in his presence.

In the end, it was he who took the next step. He sent her a casual message, inviting her to meet again at the same café. "It's not a date," he wrote, as if trying to lighten the weight of the invitation. "Just a second conversation, if that's okay with you."

Diana read the message several times, smiling, as a new emotion began to take root in her heart—the emotion of possibility. She decided to go, and that second meeting turned out to be even more natural than the first.

Freed from the formalities of first impressions, they slipped into the comfort of each other's company, as if they had known each other forever. He spoke about his dreams of traveling to remote places and capturing the world through his camera, while she shared her own longing to find something meaningful—something that went beyond failed relationships and past disappointments.

Each conversation seemed to open a new door between them, revealing parts of themselves few others had ever seen. They found themselves laughing at insignificant things, getting into lively debates about topics they didn't even know they cared about—as if those talks were a refuge, a safe space where they could be vulnerable without fear of judgment.

His laugh was soft, contagious, and to Diana, it carried a warmth that made her feel protected. They started seeing each other more often. It wasn't a planned decision, but rather a kind of unspoken agreement, a shared impulse that kept drawing them back together.

The days they spent together were full of little things—long walks in the park, visits to secondhand bookstores, conversations about life while watching the sunset. There was something about those simple moments that made the world around them fade away.

Diana often caught herself glancing at him from the corner of her eye, admiring his profile as he spoke passionately about anything and everything, feeling how that empty space in her heart slowly began to fill.
