CHAPTER 2 – A Glimpse Into His World
Mila couldn't stop thinking about him.
All night, she tossed and turned, trying to erase the stranger's face from her memory — but the storm in his eyes kept flashing behind her eyelids.
By morning, she gave in.
She returned to the stall, pretending to browse the usual bread, but her eyes scanned every corner of the street.
Nothing.
Until…
"Mila."
His voice sent a chill down her spine — calm, deep, like it already knew how to touch her soul.
She turned slowly.
He stood under a tree, half in shadow, half in sunlight. That same sad smile. Those same unforgettable eyes.
"You came back," he said.
"I had questions," she replied carefully. "Like how you know my name."
A pause. Then:
"I've known about you for a long time. My name is Zayn."
She raised an eyebrow. "That's not an answer."
"No," he admitted softly. "It's not."
His gaze held hers, unblinking. "Can I walk with you?"
Something in her hesitated. But something else — something deeper — whispered yes.
So, she nodded.
They walked silently through the market path. His presence was warm, steady… but beneath it, a current of something hidden.
Zayn finally spoke. "Do you believe people are meant to meet for a reason?"
"I used to," she whispered. "Until people stopped staying."
That made him stop walking.
"I won't hurt you," he said. "But I can't promise I'll be easy to understand."
Mila looked at him closely. He wasn't like the others. He didn't chase. He waited. He watched. And when he smiled, it was like the world stilled around them.
"Okay," she said quietly. "Let's just walk."
For now… that was enough.

Mila turned around — and locked eyes with him for the very first time.
