Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: A Small Spark

My mind was too preoccupied with future plans to focus on school. I could barely remember anything I did that day.

Becoming a hero wasn't something I ever considered my life's ambition—but in this world, the government provides special facilities for heroes. High-tech training grounds, advanced healing equipment, gravity chambers, and more. If I wanted to get even close to the strength I once had, I'd need access to that kind of equipment. A normal gym wouldn't cut it.

That night, just after we finished dinner, I told them my decision.

"There's something I want to say," I began. "I think I want to register as a hero. I've awakened my power."

The room went quiet. My parents exchanged a glance. My mother was the first to speak, just before my father opened his mouth.

"Are you sure about that?" she asked. "Being a hero is dangerous. Look at your brother—even with all his experience, there've been times where he came home barely standing."

I took a deep breath. I had to make them understand.

"I know it's dangerous. But I can't ignore this power. I need to learn how to control it properly. What if I accidentally hurt someone one day? Or myself? I'm not doing this for fame or glory. I just... need to be responsible with what I've been given."

My father's face showed understanding, though my mom still looked uneasy. After a pause, she nodded slowly.

"If that's your reason... then it's acceptable to me," she said. "But before we go any further, can you tell us what kind of power you've awakened? Is it dangerous? Does it have any side effects?"

I gave her a small smile. Even if I was weaker than Raditz now, I was still stronger than the average person.

"I think it's better if I show you."

I raised my right hand, palm up, and warned them.

"Don't be alarmed. I'm going to create an energy ball. It won't explode or anything."

A small orb of ki formed above my palm. It glowed softly, humming with power. Even at its weakest, I knew this ball had the destructive force of a hand grenade. Definitely not something to toss around carelessly.

After a moment, I dispersed it into harmless particles of light. My father looked impressed.

"So... it's like some kind of plasma ball," he said. "How strong is it? Have you ever used it for anything?"

For the first time since the conversation started, I saw real concern in his eyes. I gave a reassuring chuckle.

"Don't worry, Dad. I'm smart enough not to go around firing energy blasts for fun."

That seemed to ease their tension. My mother even let out a small sigh of relief.

"How about you go to your room for now," she said gently. "Let your father and I talk about this. We'll probably call your brother too—maybe he can help guide you through the registration process and what steps to take next."

I nodded and headed upstairs.

I didn't know exactly what would come next... but one thing was clear.

They supported me.

And that meant more than I ever expected.
