Chapter 0.5

Fukurokuju, the god ofwisdom, was surprised when his boss, Amenominakanushi, the god of space-time, pulled him aside after the annual meeting of Fate and showed him a glimpse into the future, a look of urgency and agitation in his usually cold eyes.

The old deity was led into one of the viewing rooms of their temple, where Amenominakanushi directed him to a crystal ball where the primordial god began to show him the future of a world, not uttering a word.

What Fukurokuju saw shocked him—it was one of the world's Lady Amaterasu had put their group in charge of, dubbed by Benzaiten as the "Naruto World" because of how centered it was around that human and his descendants.

That wasn't what caused his golden blood to run cold, no. It was the events taking place—events of a corrupted future.

The human that Fukurokuji himself had been responsible for reincarnating only a mere two and a half thousand years ago, the soul that had such horrible things happen to him was responsible for this dreadful outcome.

At first, he saw Earth, which seemed to be the world Todd had taken as his main planet—not surprising considering the boy's origins—but the things he did, the fate that he destroyed, shook the god of longevity to his core:

Men killed and broken, women taken—used, corrupted, programmed. Morals destroyed, a world of desires, a world of hate and of pride, a world of bones and death where things such as love and peace ceased to exist, driven only by wickedness. Where power reigns supreme.

They were forced to worship, forced to serve, to fear him.

Todd, now called Kachūshiki, was playing god. And it was not just Earth, but entire galaxies, conquered by the power of the Ōtsutsuki. Entire world's enslaved, the strongest of wills broken, and life burnt out.

History, identity, memory—erased. In their place, sin.

And most damning of all: destiny had been undone.

What should have ended with Naruto and Boruto Uzumaki—the long-awaited decline of the Ōtsutsuki—was twisted beyond recognition. One soul, one ideology, had warped an already cold clan into something depraved: a pantheon of self-indulgence.

The god was filled with dread. This was all his fault—Fukurokuju knew what type of man Todd had been, even before their talk. He knew of how Todd suffered from the earliest moments of life, how misfortunate seemed to favour him, how these things had broken him.

Yet he assumed that this second chance would heal him—would help him grow—but instead, it was used to amplify the wicked planted within him. Fukurokuju had given this man something to take these feelings beyond, had given him the power to act.

Golden tears of sorrow streamed down all three of his eyes as the god saw the full picture that his naive self had refused to see—yes, there is good in everyone, but there is also bad.

Fukurokuji took a deep breath in, despite not needing to breathe, remembering how calming the experience was whenever he took on human form.

Shortly after gathering his bearings, the god saw that he needed to act quickly.

"How long before this occurs, Amenominakanushi?" He questioned in a trembling, voice suddenly sounding much like his appearance suggested.

"39 years after Kakashi Hatake is born." The reply was curt, but Fukurokuji could see the urgency in his fellow god's eyes. They could not let this world's fate be destroyed.

"I'll stop th-"

Amenominakanushi cut him off, in a sharp and cold tone, "No, you'll be doing nothing. You focus on gathering the rest of the gods, Fukurokuji."

Amenominakanushi was clearly holding him accountable for the events to come. Fukurokuji was—because normally Jurōjin, the god of longevity, was mostly in charge of the reincarnation cycle, yet Fukurokuji had wanted to help after seeing what the poor soul had been through—thought he could help.

So Jurōjin had allowed Fukurokuji to handle the situation; he was the god of wisdom after all. Yet it seems like for once, his morals had led him wrong.

It led to him gifting the human with something truly dangerous.

Yet it seems like even the gods make mistakes.

Amenominakanushi moved past the stunned god of wisdom, making his way out of the viewing room.

"We wouldn't want you making this dreadful situation even worse." He finished, his form vanishing out of view.
