In a small town within a remote corner of the continent of Ishgar…
Inside a humble bakery called The Crimson Maiden, a young child, barely a year old, with tousled reddish-brown hair, sat quietly at the front counter, keeping watch over the shop.
At an age where most children could barely crawl, this boy had already taken on the responsibility of running a store.
Even in this magical world filled with wonders, such behavior was rare enough to make him a prodigy among ordinary people.
Yet the townsfolk browsing the shelves weren't surprised in the slightest. They had seen this scene play out far too many times.
"Ren, has your mother gone out to restock again?"
The question came from a burly, good-natured blacksmith, Uncle John who often dropped by the bakery next door to check in.
"Yes, Uncle John!" replied the boy cheerfully.
The child was none other than Kageyama Ren, the transmigrator. He smiled brightly, greeting the man with natural familiarity.
John's smithy stood right next to the bakery, and he'd become something of a regular at their place.
"I told you, didn't I, Ren? If anything comes up, just come find me next door. If I help out, you and your mother wouldn't have to work so hard."
John, his broad figure marked by a few faded scars across his face, spoke in a gruff but sincere tone.
"Oh come on, John! You've been chasing after Miss Irene since the day she moved into town!"
"Exactly! She's the most beautiful woman in the whole town. I heard she even turned down a courtship from a magic scholar once! You don't stand a chance."
As soon as John finished speaking, the other customers in the bakery began teasing him playfully.
"Pfft, what do you guys know?!"
John's face turned crimson. Despite his intimidating appearance, he was surprisingly innocent. Surrounded by snickers and sly glances, he quickly turned to Ren.
"I'm leaving the money here. If you need anything, just come grab me."
"Got it, Uncle John."
Ren replied with a polite nod and a well-practiced smile, the kind he gave to every customer.
The room filled with laughter again.
"Haha! Look at him run!"
With all eyes on him, John hurried out of the store, his face still red, and disappeared into his smithy next door.
Ren let out a quiet sigh as the door shut.
He had already been living in this world for over a year now.
And in that year, Ren had stayed by the side of the crimson dragon who had eaten his Hito Hito no Mi—regaining her human form in the process. Together, they had left the forest and moved to a human settlement, opening a small bakery selling sweets, bread, and cakes.
It was only over the course of this year that Ren finally confirmed where he had transmigrated.
He wasn't in One Piece.
He was in Fairy Tail.
This, in Ren's eyes, was bad news.
Compared to the world of One Piece, Fairy Tail was far more chaotic and dangerous.
Ren knew very well how twisted and overpowered the villains of Fairy Tail could be. There were time travelers, world-ending spells, interdimensional threats—disaster after disaster.
If he had ended up in One Piece, he could've just hidden in Windmill Village, living a lazy, worry-free life, untouched by pirate wars or Marine conflicts.
But here in Fairy Tail, the final battles between the main cast and the antagonists tore across the continent. There was nowhere to hide. And to make things worse, one of the endgame bosses was a dragon-slaying maniac with combat power at the very ceiling of the universe.
Ren already had a headache just thinking about it.
Still, he had to admit, his start hadn't been too bad.
Because he finally figured out the identity of that crimson dragon.
The one who had eaten his Hito Hito no Mi (Model: Standard Human) and regained a human form.
She was none other than the Queen of Dragons, the creator of Dragon Slayer Magic, the woman known in legend as Irene Belserion.
In the original story, Irene's life was a tragedy.
Once the noble queen of Ishgar, she developed Dragon Slayer Magic to protect humanity. But after overusing it, she succumbed to its side effects—her body began transforming into that of a dragon.
Abandoned and betrayed by a man she trusted, even as she carried a child, she was sentenced to death by those she sought to protect.
Driven by despair, she transformed into a mighty dragon, destroying her executioners and vanishing.
For the next four hundred years, Irene lived trapped in her dragon form, unable to return to her humanity due to the overwhelming magic in her body and the constant strain of nurturing her unborn child.
Then, by chance, she met Zeref, one of the strongest mages in the world, a man central to the entire Fairy Tail timeline—and one of its final villains.
With his help, Irene regained a false human form, experiencing a brief moment of joy.
But it was only a temporary illusion.
Her true nature—twisted by Dragon Slayer Magic—was still that of a dragon. Her fleeting happiness gave way to immense pain.
She couldn't sleep, couldn't taste food, and her sharpened mind forced her to relive centuries of agony.
Tormented by her condition and the betrayal she suffered, Irene's sanity teetered on the edge. At one point, she even contemplated taking over her daughter's body to be reborn as a true human.
But in the end, her maternal instincts triumphed. She abandoned her newborn daughter—Erza Scarlet—and joined Zeref's forces to keep herself from losing control.
As one of Zeref's most powerful lieutenants, she became known as The Scarlet Despair, one of the Twin Pillars of the Alvarez Empire.
Yet her tragedies didn't stop there.
Eventually, Zeref waged war on Ishgar in search of a power strong enough to defeat Acnologia, the Black Dragon of the Apocalypse.
Irene, now Erza's enemy by circumstance, was forced into battle against her own daughter.
Although Irene's strength was overwhelming, she couldn't bring herself to harm her child. She fell to Erza's blade… and then the worst happened.
Acnologia discovered her identity and brutally destroyed her body, erasing her from existence.
That was the end of Irene's tragic life or so the story goes. Rumors from later side stories hinted she hadn't truly died, but Ren wasn't sure.
What he did know, however, was this:
He wouldn't let Irene walk that path again.
Over the past year, Ren had come to care deeply for her.
If he had been given a second life in this world, then he would protect the ones that mattered—especially Irene.
That was his purpose now. That was why he lived.
With that thought, Ren brought up his system interface.
Character: Kageyama Ren
Physique: Special Constitution (Can consume multiple Devil Fruits)
Haki:
Observation Haki: LV6 (+)
Armament Haki: LV6 (+)
Conqueror's Haki: LV6 (+)
Devil Fruits:
Zoan-Type: Uo Uo no Mi, Mythical Zoan (Model: Azure Dragon) – LV6 (+)
Paramecia-Type: Kilo Kilo no Mi – LV6 (+)
Logia-Type: Pika Pika no Mi – LV6 (+)
Combat Skills:
Swordsmanship: LV6 (+)
Rokushiki: LV6 (+)
Funds: 205,908
This was the foundation upon which Ren built his power in this world.
He could earn currency by completing daily tasks issued by the system. That currency, in turn, was used to upgrade his abilities.
Each skill capped at Level 10. Upgrading from Level 0 to Level 1 cost just 1 point. But every level after that required ten times more than the last.
Level 2 cost 10 points.
Level 3 cost 100.
Level 4 required 1,000.
Level 5 needed 10,000.
Level 6 demanded a staggering 100,000.
Then 1 million.
10 million.
100 million…
And finally, 1 billion to reach Level 10.
Ren had already spent nearly 900,000 points to bring eight of his core abilities to Level 6.
The absurd inflation wasn't even the worst part—it was the system's economy.
All the funds were calculated in One Piece currency, where even rookie pirates had bounties in the hundreds of millions.
And because all forms of strength were intertwined, Devil Fruit powers, Haki, combat skills, Ren had no choice but to upgrade them all evenly.
For example, the Pika Pika no Mi was incredibly fast, but Ren's brain couldn't keep up with its speed. He needed Observation Haki to assist his movement tracking and targeting.
Armament and Conqueror's Haki, meanwhile, were both crucial. One allowed internal destruction, the other unleashed ranged shockwaves.
The Uo Uo no Mi granted him immense physical power, but no technique. That's where Rokushiki and swordsmanship came in to refine and direct that raw strength.
Even the Kilo Kilo no Mi required precision. Without Observation Haki, its wide-range gravity attacks might hurt civilians. If he wanted to use the fruit with finesse like Fujitora, mastery of Observation Haki was essential.
Ren sighed as he looked over his stats.
He tapped open his daily quest list.
Daily Quests:
Assist Irene at the shop – Reward: 1,000 funds
Sell one loaf of bread – Reward: 1,000 funds
Welcome 10 customers – Reward: 1,000 funds
All three tasks were glowing blue, complete.
Ren quickly claimed his rewards, bumping his funds from 205,908 to 208,908.
Just as he wondered how long it would take to earn a million and hit Level 7 in any skill, a gust of wind chime rang through the door.
A flash of crimson rushed into the bakery.
And the next second, he was scooped into a suffocating hug.
"Ren! Did you get hurt while Mama was out? Did anyone cause trouble?"
The warm, worried voice rang in his ears.
He didn't need to look. That overwhelming strength told him everything.
Even with his current stats, already equivalent to a Marine Vice Admiral in the One Piece world, he couldn't budge an inch against this force.
She could obliterate an entire nation without breaking a sweat.
The infamous Scarlet Despair.
Irene Belserion.
A power beyond the human realm, beyond even the Ancient Weapons.
Even if you gathered every top-tier mage in Ishgar and Alvarez, none could match her, save for two: the mad immortal Zeref, and the Black Dragon Acnologia.
Only August, the Magic King and other half of the Twin Pillars of the West, could rival Irene's strength.
Thinking of August made Ren uneasy. The man had wielded immense magical power even while still in Mavis's womb—terrifying enough to shock Precht, Fairy Tail's second guild master.
Compared to that kind of monstrous talent… even Ren, with his system cheats, couldn't dare call himself a genius.
