-LILY-
My head set slightly on the bars of the iron cage, tears rolling down my cheeks as I watched Hannah count the amount of silver coins in her bag.
I had heard of female wolves being sold out to foreign lands, but I never thought it would happen to me… not yet, actually. The life of a courtesan was always a hustle, but today I was the trade.
"I see everything is ready." His deep voice filled the room.
I could hear the giggles behind me, the sluggish greeting that lurked within. He had come to a place such as this, a place where laws weren't entertained, and he was basically powerless without Hannah's acknowledgement.
"Mighty Alpha, she's ready for you." Hannah let out.
Was he planning on buying me back after all the horrible things he said to me? Was our first encounter really just a misunderstanding and a fake scenario that my brain had played out just to get me off him? Did he just realize that our bond was much more real than he thought?
"My Lord…" her petite voice ran through my ear.
It was her, the only person who made me feel like a loser and made my life a misery apart from Hannah. It was Silvia, my foster sister and Hannah's biological daughter.
She walked into his arms, his hands wrapped around her waist as she played with his chest. He didn't shout at her; she didn't feel disgusted by her presence; instead, he embraced her.
My heart tugged on my chest, the pain like a thousand needles, as I watched him open up to her, a fierce kiss that could make any girl beg for more. Was I that ugly next to Silvia?
"You know I never thought this useless courtesan was your foster sister; I might have accommodated her quite well." He held up a smirk as his gaze hit the cage.
"No, she deserves all that happened to her. I mean, she has no value, and she isn't educated enough to be your mate. The moon goddess made a mistake, if I must say."
"The Moon Goddess doesn't make mistakes." I retorted.
I saw the death glare Hannah had on her face, but I wasn't giving up. Not now that I knew that it was all planned from the very start and he could have been brainwashed with some lousy lies.
"You dare to question my authority?" She spat.
"Authority? You barely even have value."
"How dare you speak to my woman like that?" His voice became deeper.
He truly cared about her… I could see the bloodlust in his eyes, the resistant strain to kill and be stained by blood. It was unmatched by any other, too ferocious to be taken up.
There was no way I could go up against him in this cage. I couldn't shift and rip a way out, nor could I buy my freedom. All I could do was sit back and chill with tons of despair.
"You don't have to get angry, my love." She placed her hand on his chest, romancing him using one of the courtesans' techniques of seduction. "She's going to be sold out to a foreign land in a few hours. Let's just enjoy ourselves and not get hazed up by this nonentity".
"Why not find yourself an identity?" I fired back.
"I already have Lily." She placed her hand on the bars, our eyes making contact. "I will be known as the Luna after tonight, and you, probably a slut in a wooden cupboard."
If Harry truly loved her, then she was going to become his Luna. I realized that she had won this battle yet again, and I would have no choice but to sit back and let her stomp all over me like the rug I had been raised to be.
… All the courtesans were in their best attires, alluring and had that sweet scent that made the men dance to their every time. Harry and Silvia were given the main seats of the house with Hannah by their side. George had gone to retrieve a courtesan from a foreign land, so he wasn't here to see the main event that had come into play.
Hundreds of men were seated; they were easy to distinguish with the tags they had on. Royalty, noblemen, soldiers, kinsmen, and the lowest of all, merchants. This wasn't the first time someone was going to be sold off, but it was the first time a slave would be sold using a bidding method.
The reason is simple. My value has depreciated, and they were looking for a way to make even the slightest profit from me. A thousand dollars at this point could be the bestst bid, and that's really why she allowed low merchants.
"Let's begin."
Drum rolls began, the rhythm of the piano merging with it to create a sonorous harmony. I had never seen any of the men before; they were all from foreign lands with different robes and dressing, searching for a slave to use for different purposes. I could only wish for a good man to buy me off and save me from these bars of rusted iron.
"You know the rules, men: the highest bidder wins this round and goes home with this tentative slave." Hannah let out.
They cheered, the lust in their eyes glowing as they stared at my bare legs underneath my ripped-up gown. If not for protocol, they could have tried to touch me.
"10 silver coins"
That low.
"20 silver coins"
"40 silver coins"
The merchants, compared to the other earned much less, but it was unexpected for my value to have depreciated so much just because of his words. I would be lucky to even get someone to pay a thousand silver coins just to be with me."
"A thousand coins, the highest bidder yet." Hannah chuckled. "Does anybody else want to go against that?"
It was a high-ranking noble who looked pretty weird. The way he squeezed his hands on his robes was enough information to wish he didn't get me. Someone, anyone, should bid higher than that; I shouldn't be left to someone like that.
"A hundred thousand…"
