Just as the henchman's blade was about to strike Nami, at the very last moment, two deafening shouts rang out simultaneously.
"You guys are too noisy! You're making so much noise I can't even sleep!"
"Wood Release: Wood Golem!"
As the two voices sounded, the wine barrel next to Nami seemed to explode, bursting open. Immediately, a figure wearing a red vest, blue capri jeans, and a pair of seemingly casual straw sandals stood up from inside the barrel, sending some of the pirates surrounding Nami flying.
As for the other henchmen's blades, just as they were about to cut Nami, a rapid and crisp sound of wood clashing—Thump-thump-thump~—suddenly echoed. Several wooden planks quickly pieced together, forming an oval-shaped, indestructible wooden wall that tightly shielded Nami behind it.
This oval wooden wall was like an impenetrable fortress, rigidly blocking all weapons aimed at Nami. Those originally ferocious blades, upon touching the wooden wall, were like striking an iron plate—unable to advance even an inch.
This scene instantly stunned all the pirates. No one had expected that, besides a thief, there were actually two other people on this ship. And one of them could even conjure wood as hard as steel.
Nami, seeing that she was unharmed, looked at Shin'ya Kurozawa, who had saved her, and whispered, "Thank you for saving me."
Shin'ya Kurozawa, however, waved his hand and said, "It's nothing, just a small favor. Seeing you risk your life to steal treasure on a pirate ship—are you very short on money?"
Nami replied, "Yes, I have a reason I must steal treasure, but I cannot tell you. I'm sorry."
Seeing that Nami didn't want to talk about it, Shin'ya didn't press her further.
And at this moment…
Alvida looked at the two newcomers and angrily shouted, "Who are you two bratty brats?!"
Upon hearing this, Luffy seemed to flip a switch and yelled, "I'm Monkey D. Luffy, the man who will become the King of the Pirates!"
Shin'ya also replied, "Me? Well… I'm just a traveler. A traveler exploring the world."
For a moment, everyone on the pirate ship fell into an eerily awkward silence. After a brief pause, the pirates all burst into laughter.
Pirate A: "Brothers, did you hear that? This kid wants to become the King of the Pirates, hahahaha."
Pirate B: "Yeah, yeah, that's the funniest joke I've heard in a long time."
Koby, hearing Luffy's words, said in disbelief, "You… you're going to the Grand Line to find the One Piece left by Roger? Don't be ridiculous! That's what pirates all over the world are searching for. You can't get it! You'll die—you'll die on the way to find the treasure! How can you compete with so many people for one treasure?"
Luffy looked at the cowardly Koby and said seriously, "What's your name? Do you have your own dream? I've had my dream since I was little. For my dream, I'm willing to give up my life. Even if I die, I want to die on the path to becoming the King of the Pirates."
At this point, Luffy's expression grew excited, and he shouted, "And I won't be defeated so easily! I, Monkey D. Luffy, will definitely become the King of the Pirates!"
Koby looked at the incredibly serious Luffy and his determination, feeling immensely shaken. He muttered to himself, "If… if I had such determination, I could definitely achieve my dream too, I definitely could."
Suddenly, Koby looked at Luffy with firm eyes: "Mr. Luffy, if I had your determination and courage, I would definitely become an excellent Marine!"
Shin'ya, however, spoke up: "Kid, dreams aren't just spoken. Since you want to become a Marine, you must have the resolve to be killed by pirates to achieve your dream. What's the use of talking more if you're timid and hesitant? Right, Luffy?" He then looked at Luffy.
"Luffy, my name is Shin'ya Kurozawa. On your journey to become the King of the Pirates, can you take me out to sea with you? My dream is to travel the entire world, and following you should be quite interesting!"
Luffy laughed heartily: "Alright, Shin'ya Kurozawa, you're my nakama now, Shishishishi!"
Just then, Alvida, who had been watching them chat so animatedly—completely disregarding her—finally erupted.
Alvida roared furiously, "Enough, you damn brats! What do you take this place for? You don't even have me in your eyes! Men, attack them, kill them!"
Luffy heard the woman's roar, picked his nose, and nonchalantly said, "Old hag, who are you?"
"Old hag… you called me an old hag?! Die, brat!" Alvida completely lost it, swinging her spiked club and lunging at Luffy.
At this moment, Koby shouted, "Luffy, watch out!"
Alvida, hearing Koby warn an outsider, became even more enraged and ignored everything else. Her iron club, which was attacking Luffy, turned towards Koby. "You brat, you die here too!"
Seeing Alvida's attack, Nami and Koby were too scared to move. Just as they were about to be hit, Luffy made his move.
Luffy directly stretched out his arm, grabbed Alvida who was jumping to attack Koby and them, then pulled her back with force, smashing her hard into the deck.
Alvida, getting back up, looked at her unmoving subordinates and angrily shouted, "What are you still looking at?! Attack!" Saying this, she attacked Luffy again.
Shin'ya, seeing the pirates attacking Koby and Nami, also jumped down, clapping his hands together directly. "Genjutsu: bringer of darkness" activated, and all the pirates opposite him were plunged into complete darkness.
Immediately, all the pirates were filled with fear, wandering aimlessly. Some ran off the deck and fell into the sea, others crashed into their own comrades or into the ship's panels, turning the deck into utter chaos.
Luffy, while fighting Alvida, looked back and laughed heartily, "That's an interesting ability, Shin'ya, haha! Watch this, Gum-Gum Gattling!"
Koby and Nami looked at Shin'ya, their eyes full of admiration. "That's amazing!"
Shin'ya, seeing that many pirates hadn't fallen yet, clapped his hands together again. "Wood Release: Wood Spikes!" Countless wooden spikes appeared on the pirate ship's deck, like Kimimaro's "Bone-Bone Fruit: Dance of the Clematis," growing from the ground and attacking the pirate henchmen. In an instant, only Alvida remained active on the entire pirate ship.
Since he wasn't sure if Luffy would dislike killing, Shin'ya didn't go for the kill—only piercing their feet.
On Luffy's side, Alvida, with her wide, sweeping attacks, actually fought Luffy to a draw. However, just as Alvida jumped up to attack Luffy again, Luffy used his "Gum-Gum Rocket," striking Alvida directly in the stomach. In an instant, Alvida was sent flying out of sight.
After sending Alvida flying, Luffy took a big leap and landed next to Shin'ya, Nami, and Koby.
Luffy happily said, "Hahahaha, Shin'ya, your strength is pretty good! That's an interesting ability. With you as my nakama, the upcoming adventures will definitely be fun! You're the first nakama I've found. I still need to find nine more, and there must be a musician and the best chef among them!"
Then he looked at Nami, who was carrying treasure, and asked seriously, "Do you want to be my nakama? My newly formed pirate crew."
Nami looked at the silly, naive Luffy and didn't hesitate—directly refusing, "No thanks, I dislike pirates."
After saying this, Nami looked at Shin'ya and waved her hand, "Thank you very much for saving me. I'll be leaving now, bye-bye."
Then Nami decisively jumped onto a small boat and rowed away by herself.
