I'm writing this piece as a disclaimer before you start reading. First and foremost, this is a story that uses the original Yu-Gi-Oh! plot as a base. That said, some events will inevitably change and alter, thanks to the MC being an anomaly in the setting.
I will always use the Battle City Tournament rules from the start: 4000 Life Points, all players draw 6 cards at the start (this is done because Duelist Kingdom made no sense rule-wise).
I'll be using only Fusion, Ritual and Synchro summoning. This is done because they are the most generic summons (Fusion and Ritual are present from the start, Synchro is literally an advanced metod of Fusion summoning developed in the future). Xyz, Pendulum and Link summoning are all tied to a specific setting and literally a plot hole without said setting (Xyz requires both Barian and Astral worlds, Pendulum literally requires Z-ARC and Link the LINK VRAINS reality). This is not done out of spite or discontent for newer cards, just for a continuity and setting reasons.
For the inevitable fights with the God Cards, i will use the anime rule: only monsters with the same level or higher can affect them. They are still immune to traps and lower level monster effects that targets them, spell cards will work only for one turn against them and equip spells are automatically destroyed once equipped.
Some cards will have their anime effect instead of the TCG/OCG ones, for the sake of plot enrichment (i'm looking at you, Cards of Sanctity), and i will always make sure to point out when this rule is applied (an "Anime Effect" mark inside the card text). Also i will fill the missing slots in other characters deck as nedeed, keeping the timeline in mind when doing so (the maximum number of cards will always be between 40 and 45).
During the narration i will use:
- square brackets to describe cards text and effects
- normal brackets for internal monologue and characters toughts.
As a conclusion, i actually made the MC's deck and it will be posted down here after a "spoiler" mark. I will only use cards out of this 45 slot deck and 12 slot extra deck (the only exception being cards gifted or gained throughout the story). This is a side project of mine that i do as a stress relief and to keep myself exercised in writing English (which is not my main language). i hope in being consistent with my writing (the goal is between one to three chapters a month).
