Chapter 1 - Awake.

Kirika Aoi was enjoying a normal day in the Fruit Explosion amusement park, her black hair was blown by the wind. She sat on a bench, watching the people ride about on the various attractions.

Her eyes were bright and blue, it was a good first day to enjoy the summer break. She locked her ice cream..

She blinked looking around, a rising high pitch sound was coming from somewhere and she could not pinpoint it. She looked around, the other people here were also confused.

Suddenly, everything froze as if time itself lagged behind the world. Disaster then struck.

BOOM!!!

BOOM!!!

BOOM!!!

Three separate explosions rang out, erupting from within the park and flames so vast devoured everything and pieces of large debris fell, metal poles collapsed on people impaling then where they stood.

Kirika was on the ground, confused, she tried to get up but then felt a searing pain in her abdomen. Her hands began to shake as her eyes gazed upon the large metal pole seemingly embedded there.

She couldn't feel her legs as they were crushed and mangled by a huge wall of debris. Kirika opened her mouth to scream but what came was silence, the pain she felt was too much making her unable to scream.

Her heart was thumping loudly...well...not for long. She looked to her side, eyes wide in horror as she witnessed the vast bloodshed. People lay on e round burning, some were still alive, screaming as they rolled on the ground before they ultimately died.

Some were crushed underneath rubble their blood creating a large pool underneath the charred and shattered earth. She could taste and smell the iron̈.

Her breathing started to become rapid as she had one thought in her mind. "I don't want to die, someone please save me?!!."

As if answering her plea, the smoke parted before her fading eyes.

A girl stood at the edge of the carnage.

She was untouched by the chaos, wearing a simple white dress that fluttered despite the heat. Her skin was pale—almost translucent—and her eyes... they shimmered like Rubies, reflecting something not of this world. The ground didn't seem to acknowledge her presence, as if she stood just slightly above it.

Kirika could barely keep her eyes open, her vision swimming with tears, blood, and haze, but she felt the girl's presence.

The girl walked closer, her footsteps making no sound over the rubble and flame.

She knelt beside Kirika, tilting her head like a curious animal.

"Do you wish to live?" she asked, her voice soft and distant, as if echoing through a tunnel. It wasn't cruel, nor kind. Just... empty. As if the words were being read aloud from a script.

Kirika couldn't form words. Her mouth barely opened. All she could do was nod weakly, desperation and pain painting every twitch of her body.

The girl smiled—but it didn't reach her eyes. She leaned down, placing a cold hand on Kirika's bloodied forehead.

"Then it shall be granted."

And then Darkness.

Name:Kirika Aoi.

Date: Monday XXXX XXXXX

Stauts:Victim of the Terrorist Incident, one of the three people that survived. Has been in a coma for a month.

Analysis: The Patient will soon wake up as the doctors hypothesised, all her injuries have been fixed and her bones have mended from damage quite quickly..

Yuna ceased her eyebrows looking at the file. "Why dis this have to happen to you Kirika."

She muttered in a slightly angered tone, Yuna Aishe is Kirika Aoi's Best friend, her father is a detective and he was investigating the Terrorist movement from three months ago. She sneaked into his office and looked into his files, her green eyes piercing as she analysed all the information on the document.

After reading on some more of the other Victims that survived, she sighed and kept the documents. Then she went to her room to change into a raincoat and umbrella.

It seemed to be raining a lot these days.

She speculated that Kirika would wake up today and she wanted to meet her and ask her some questions, no one knew who these Terrorists .were since everyone involved are dead, well except those three lucky people.

Yuna walked outside, the sound of the rain hitting everything was ever present, she opened her umbrella and walked under it, walking towards the hospital as the sounds of thunder rebounded above her.

Her boots splashed against the pavements as she began to think.

The day the incident happen was it was summer break, the time was 3:00 at that time and the month was November, after that incident, the political figures in the country didn't even say a word which was rather suspicious and she couldn't get a hold of Kirika's guardian...it seemed he left her thinking she would die.

That bastard?!. Yuna calmed down bur still began to rearrange the pieces as she did the last two months. They were far more clues that were more relevant than the one she mentioned but it would be too time consuming to piece them all together again while she is moving.

She let out a long breath and cleared her mind, at this moment, she needed to be there for her best friend, she really needed to or she might do something she would regret.

Thinking that, Yuana began walking quickly.

---

At the reception, the nurse l99ked down and saw Yuna, the young girl was dripping water on the hospital floors. "Hello Yuna, here to meet Kirika again?, by the way she has been awake for a few hours now and was just staring at the window for the last five hours."

Yuna's heart skipped a bit, she was about to run towars the room but the nurse stopped her. "Hey, hang your raincoat first. "

Yuna blinked and then nodded and quickly took off her soaked raincoat, hanging it on the nearby rack. Her heart thudded faster, a mixture of relief, excitement, and a gnawing dread twisting in her chest. She handed the nurse a grateful nod, then walked briskly down the hallway, her boots still squeaking faintly against the linoleum floor.

Room 304.

She stopped outside the door, her hand hesitating just above the handle. For a moment, she couldn't bring herself to open it. What would she even say? Kirika had been in a coma for a month, and now—suddenly—she was awake. What had she seen? What did she remember?

Taking a shaky breath, Yuna pushed the door open.

---

"What's wrong with me." Kirika muttered looking at her arms, they were pale and it was not the type that you get when you're sick. No it felt natural as if it was how she is.

Her heart was also beating much faster than before and her vision increased and the .most strangest thing if all was her teeth. They felt sharp as if she could bite through metal.

She averted her eyes from the window and then stared at the door, she could hear someone coming herd rapidly each step echoing in her ears like a drumbeat, clear and vivid.

She didn't know how she could hear so sharply, but it wasn't just sound. She could feel them. The person approaching. The weight of their thoughts brushing against her like a breeze through the leaves.

The door creaked open.

Yuna stepped inside, her green eyes widening as she saw Kirika sitting up in bed, the blanket pooled around her waist, her long black hair falling in messy strands over her shoulders.

For a moment, the two girls just stared at each other.

"Kirika..." Yuna whispered.

Kirika's gaze flicked over her—rain-soaked clothes, clenched fists, the glint of desperation in her eyes. She wanted to speak, to say something warm, but all she could think about was the strange emptiness in her chest, and how her blood felt… still.

"Yuna." Her voice came out quieter than she intended, but it carried.

Yuna took a few tentative steps forward. "You're awake. You're really awake... I was so scared."

Kirika smiled. "Hey I'm still alive aren't I, so don't you dare cry...anyways it seems I have lost three months of life huh."

Yuna chuckled, the smile on Kirika's face reminded her that she was safe. She walked towards the bed and sat beside her, her blonde hair seemingly glowing in the rainy atmosphere. "Yeah, but I am pretty sure you can get them back...but summer is over y'know."

Kirika rolled her eyes. "Yeah...I think that's for the best."

Kirika didn't go into it too much. What she was worried about was how she was hearing Yuna's thoughts, she won't tell her of course....well not until she has figured out what happened to herself. She also should probably keep the incident about that strange girl to herself...it felt...safer.

Yuna leaned back in the chair, watching Kirika's expression carefully. The warmth in her smile was there, but something in her eyes was… off. As if a piece of her hadn't come back from that wreckage. As if something else had returned in her place.

"So…" Yuna said slowly, trying to sound casual, "what's the last thing you remember?"

Kirika hesitated, her gaze dropping to her hands. Her fingers trembled for just a second, then steadied.

"I remember the amusement park. The screams. Fire. Then…" Her voice trailed off, and she blinked. "Then… nothing. Just… darkness. Until I woke up here."

It wasn't a lie. But it wasn't the full truth either.

Yuna narrowed her eyes slightly, picking up on the hesitation, but she didn't press. Not yet. Instead, she reached out and placed her hand over Kirika's.

"I'm just glad you're okay," she said softly. "You, me… we've always gotten through everything together. I don't plan on changing that now."

Kirika looked up, a flicker of guilt passing through her as her sharpened senses picked up the unspoken thoughts in Yuna's mind:

//She's not telling me everything. But I need to give her time. I can't push her right now.//

Kirika pulled her hand back gently. "I'm still me, Yuna. Just… a little broken."

Yuna smiled again, though the unease in her eyes didn't fade. "You're not broken. Maybe… changed. But not broken."

Kirika tilted her head in confusion, seeing her expression Yuna giggled.

//She's quite cute though huh//

Hearing her thoughts, Kirika felt her face warm ever so slightly. She quickly looked away, pretending to focus on the IV line taped to her arm.

"Did you just blush?" Yuna teased, leaning a little closer with a playful grin.

"No," Kirika said a little too quickly, still refusing to meet her eyes.

Yuna laughed softly, the sound easing the tension in the air. But the warmth of the moment couldn't chase away the cold crawling through Kirika's chest. She could still hear everything—every heartbeat, every drip from the IV, every subtle flicker of emotion in Yuna's mind. It was like being surrounded by noise even in silence.

Something had definitely changed.

Yuna spent an hour speaking to Kirika before she went home.

Later that night when Kirika was eating hospital food, she found the taste to be...bland, tasteless even, it filled her with a deep sense of disgust, but she still ate it.

It didn't satisfy her but it would do until she is discharged. She wondered why she felt disgust though...it's strange.

In fact ever since that girl from the incident asked her that question l, she woke up to find herself behaving quite different.

Enhanced senses, pale skin, the disgust for human food, the ability to read thought's and also the sharp teeth. Honestly...she really wanted to know what happened to her.

"I guess I'll find out soon enough." She said staring out the window again, she stared at the falling droplets from the seemingly endless rain and thought. When would the clouds disperse and sunlight graze upon the world once more, she misses the sensation of the sun on her skin.
