[20ps]
Rael had stayed in Syrup Village longer than he initially intended. A few days passed quietly, but he had learned that silence often hides secrets.
Each morning, he trained at the forest's edge, pretending to be just a wanderer with a strange aura. By noon, he visited the village to watch, to listen. He didn't speak much, but his presence alone kept local thugs and troublemakers away.
Usopp continued acting as his self-proclaimed "guide," often bringing him food and updates on village gossip.
But Rael was focused on the mansion.
On Kaya.
And on him.
It was on the fourth day when Rael first entered the mansion grounds.
The gates opened hesitantly. A thin, pale man with glasses and slicked-back hair greeted him. He wore a perfectly ironed butler uniform, white gloves, and a composed smile.
"Klahadore," the man said with a bow. "Lady Kaya's caretaker."
Rael studied him.
The man's movements were perfect—too perfect.
His voice was calm—almost rehearsed.
And his aura?
Nothing.
That was what made it worse.
Rael could feel trees grow. Could feel birds breathe. But this man?
Too quiet.
Too practiced.
Too clean.
"I've heard… unusual things about you," Klahadore continued, glancing down at Rael's blade and cloak. "A traveler with the strength of a dozen men. I hope you're not here to take advantage of the lady's kindness."
Rael simply smiled. "You could say I protect the weak."
Klahadore's smile twitched. "Ah… a noble spirit. I see."
Rael tilted his head slightly. "And you? Were you always a butler?"
The butler's eyes flickered. "Of course. I've served Lady Kaya's family faithfully for years."
Rael said nothing more.
But he already knew: this man was lying.
Later that day.
Rael met her.
Kaya.
She was sitting under the shade of a tree in the mansion garden, pale but elegant, with a gentle expression and eyes full of quiet sorrow.
"Lady Kaya," Klahadore said, "this is Rael. He's… a traveler."
Kaya smiled softly. "Welcome. I don't get many visitors… aside from Usopp."
Rael stepped forward, his expression calm. "It's a beautiful garden."
"It was my parents' favorite place before they passed…" she said, folding her hands in her lap. "Now it's where I try to feel alive."
Rael sat beside her on the bench, his golden eyes meeting hers.
"You're sick," he said bluntly, not unkindly.
She didn't flinch.
"Yes."
"Who treats you?"
Kaya hesitated. "Klahadore handles my medicine. The doctor retired last year…"[System Notice: Suspicion Level Increased – Medical interference likely. Victim: Kaya.]Rael said nothing more.
But the pieces were forming.
Over the next few days, Rael continued to visit.
He would sit beside Kaya, talking little but listening more. Kaya spoke of her dreams to see the world, of stories Usopp told her, of her parents, and the weight she carried on her fragile shoulders.
Rael's presence comforted her.
Not because he was kind—but because he was honest.
He didn't lie to make her feel better.
He listened. He observed.
He cared, quietly.
On the sixth day, Rael returned from a walk to find Usopp pacing outside the mansion walls.
"Something's wrong," Usopp whispered. "Klahadore's been acting weirder than usual. I think he's trying to get Kaya to change her will. I heard him talking to himself…"
Rael's eyes narrowed.
"It's time we find out what's really going on," he said.
Inside the mansion, Klahadore stared at a locked drawer in the study.
He removed his glasses and wiped them clean. In the reflection of the lens, his calm, smiling face twisted… just slightly.
"This nuisance traveler," he whispered to himself. "He's more observant than the others."
He placed the glasses back on.
"No matter."[System Notice: Critical Thread Active – Captain Kuro Identified.]
Stage 1: Unmask the lie. Stage 2: Stop the assassination. Stage 3: Interfere with destiny… or rewrite it.Rael stood at the cliff again, watching the moonlight shine on the sea.
"Kuro, huh?" he muttered.
"A butler who pretends to be weak… I've seen that trick before."
His eyes gleamed....
