Cherreads

Chapter 2 - Occlumency.

Alex left the kitchen and walked to the living room. In the living room, he went to the bookshelf where his school books were already waiting for him since his mother had bought them for him a few days ago.

'I suppose that Hogwarts curriculum has been the same for several years, since she was able to buy almost everything at once,' Alex thought as he looked at the books on the shelf and took his charms book from it.

He sat down on the couch and began to read the book.

After half an hour, Alex was suddenly snapped out of his reading when the Great Sage's voice sounded in his head.

[Report. Mental shields have been finished.]

'Good job, Sage,' Alex praised the Great Sage for the good work.

'Now I want you to find out how exactly magic in this world functions, for example, how do wizards and witches generate their magic? Is it in the environment or is it in their bodies?' Alex tasked the Great Sage. He was curious if it was possible to increase the amount of magic he could use before he was tired.

He remembered that Potter seemed to have more magic than others his age, and he also remembered how Dumbledore seemingly had some sort of magical aura about him when he escaped from Hogwarts during the Order of the Phoenix.

Because of these two, Alex believed that there likely was some sort of way to increase the amount of magic he could use before he started to feel tired.

[Received. Starting process... Analyzing...]

After another half an hour, Alex put his charm book down and began to think about how he should approach the next seven years of his life.

'I'm not really interested in getting involved with Potter and his adventures, but I am interested in the philosopher's stone. I'm sure that the Great Sage can recreate it all on its own, but getting the one in Hogwarts this year would make things faster since I would have to find all the ingredients otherwise.'

[Confirmed. I can do this.] Pipes in Great Sage stating the obvious.

Alex ignores the Sage and continues to think.

'The problem is getting it without being found out by anyone.'

'Sage, you are going to be busy this year. I want you to help me learn as much magic as we can during this school year, then once it's time, we will go after that stone.'

[Noted. Understood.]

(A few hours later)

Alex finished the Charm book by the time Abigail returned home.

Abigail walked into the living room and took her coat off as she looked at Alex and the charms book on his lap. "I see you have been busy," She said with a small smile, putting her coat away.

"Yep, I finished the charms book already, though I'm not sure if I can remember everything. Is there any magic that can help with that?" Alex put the book on the table and got up from the couch, and stretched.

Abigail thought about the question for a few moments and then went to her work room for her magical research, and after a few minutes returned with a book in her hand. "Here, this should help. It's about a magical discipline called Occlumency. This should help you remember what you learn in books better."

Alex took the book from Abigail's hand and asked her. "Is this how you always seem to remember everything I do and say. He said, looking at her with a little pout. fully acting in his role as an eleven-year-old who had finally figured out how their parent always seemed to remember all of their embarrassing moments.

"Maybe." Abigail smiled mischievously at Alex. Before walking to the couch and sitting down.

Alex looked at his mother and then walked to sit next to her as he began to read the book on Occlumency.

'With this, I have an excuse when my mental shields are eventually discovered, and hopefully this can make them even stronger since the Sage did not have any data to use earlier and only made what it believes to be the best shields.'

[Confirmed. More data is always welcome.] The Great Sage answered, and Alex felt as if the Sage was nodding its head as it spoke.

'On that we agree.'

While Alex was reading, Abigail observed her son from the side and smiled happily that he was finally reading his school books in his free time.

Abigail was a half blood herself who had grown up in the Muggle world. As a result, she had had Muggle schooling before she went to Hogwarts, and when Alex was born, she decided that he would also go to Muggle school before Hogwarts.

But like most children that age, he was not at all fond of reading his school books outside of school hours, so seeing him take to his Hogwarts books so readily warmed her heart.

Abigail stood up from the couch and ruffled her son's head. "I am going to make us some dinner." She said as she walked into the kitchen, having realized that her son was so into his reading that he had not eaten anything while she was gone, something that she would have to make sure that he does not repeat after today.

Alex continued to read the Occlumency book and consulted the Great Sage about improvements to his mental shields.

After a while his Abigail called out for Alex to come eat as the food was ready.

Alex put the book down on the living room table and walked to the kitchen.

Once they had eaten, Alex spent the rest of the night reading the Occlumency book and strengthening his shields.

Abigail then also began to teach Alex about the knowledge of Occlumency herself and how to go about making his shields, not knowing that he already had shields of his own, but Alex still listened to his mother's explanation and appreciated her teaching him.

As they continued like this, the remaining hours passed by, and soon it was time to head to bed.
