I've always looked at things with indifference, never giving anything its due attention. Even the bedtime stories my mother used to tell me seemed more real than the tales I heard after moving to Korea.
But to be fair, I never believed in such myths—until I opened my eyes and found myself in an empty space, like a lesser version of outer space. How did this happen? How did I end up here? Honestly, I have no idea… or maybe I do.
By the way, my name is Hyung Ryunald—Hyung Ryu for short. I'm half British, half Korean, born in England to a Korean father and a British mother. When I was fifteen, I moved to Korea with my family. Now, I'm thirty-seven years old, single, and living alone in a cheap apartment on the outskirts of the historic city of Busan. Or at least, that was my life—until a few minutes ago, before I ended up in this place.
I was just sitting in my kitchen, drinking beer like it was oxygen itself, consuming it with an insatiable thirst. Then, I lost consciousness while sitting at my small dining table. Considering where I am now, one thought immediately crossed my mind: I might… already be dead.
What an embarrassing way to die! Just imagine what people would say: "He died drunk." The sheer humiliation makes me wish I could bury myself right now. But in this moment, my situation is entirely different. As soon as I arrived in this strange place, a floating screen with a bright blue hue appeared before me. It hovered in midair without any visible support, displaying clear text and emitting computer-like sounds. There was no doubt—it was a system.
Even though I'm a miserable man in my thirties, I've always had a passion for fantasy stories, especially those that revolve around dying, being transported to another world, and receiving a system to help navigate it. But never once did I truly believe in such things—until now.
It seems I have no choice but to accept it.
I am Hyung Ryonald—or Hyung Ryo—and this is my story. How I was transported to a strange and mysterious world… and how I came to possess two bodies.
