Chapter 2 - Gallery

Alarm noise

"Oh, it's already morning." Check the time. I get up in my bed, and I dress up. Phone notification: it's Nicole. "Hey, let's have breakfast." I thumbs up her message, and I know where we're going.

"Hey Nicole, good morning."

"What's with the dress?"

"You know I like to dress like an old lady."

"Oh yeah, I forgot that part. Sorry."

While we were walking to our destination, I saw a beautiful scene at the flower shop. "Hey, Nicole, can we stop for a moment?" "Yeah, sure, no problem." I saw a beautiful painting at the flower shop. We entered the flower shop, and I asked the owner,

"Hey, can I ask?"

"How can I help you, lady?"

"This painting—who painted this?"

"I just bought it last week, and the painter is Zake."

Zake, I think I heard that name before, and I don't know where. "Thank you, sir." "You're welcome." We left the flower shop, and I asked Nicole if he knew that name. "Hey, Nicole, do you know that name?" "You mean Zake?" "Yeah, that name."

"I heard it before, but let me search it." Nicole took out her phone and started searching the name, and I don't believe what I'm seeing.

"This is Zake Cooper N, the famous painter. In 2015, his art style was 19th century, like the famous painter Da Vinci."

And I remember now that's my father. He left us when I was a kid. "Is there a problem, Amelie?" "Nothing. I'm just curious about the painting because you know my style is 19th century." I don't talk too much, but I want to see my father.

Many hours passed, and I and Nicole decided to go to the gallery. The show was about to start, and I saw Ethan. "Is that the guy?" "Just watch, ok? I'm curious about his art style." Ethan showed his brush, and he had a big canvas in front of him. The canvas was spinning around, and he started to make an image on the canvas, and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The image showed a cup of coffee. "Wait, I thought he used humans for his artwork." Everyone started clapping, and Nicole started clapping too, but I was still confused. Then Ethan explained his artwork.

"This image shows a cup of coffee, but this cup of coffee is not just a coffee. I met a girl yesterday, and she's an artist too. There's a weird feeling when I saw her canvas, and I think they call this 'love.'"

The crowd is clapping again, and I didn't notice that everyone is staring at me, and then I realized that Ethan's fingers are pointing at me. "Come here, Amelie." I walk towards Ethan with a weird face. "This is the girl I'm talking about." I ask Ethan if this is not what he meant to me. "You told me you use humans for your artwork." "That's right, I use humans for my artwork," and then I realized I'm his model.

The show is done, and Ethan spoke to me: "I'm sorry for what I said earlier." "No, it's ok for her." Nicole just responded to that word. I'm just going to say that I'm so embarrassed. "Who's she?" "I'm Nicole. Nice to meet you." "Nice to meet you, Nicole. So this is the friend you're talking about?" "Yes, that's her." "Thank you for witnessing my performance." Ethan asked me if I'm free tomorrow.

"Are you free tomorrow, Amelie?"

"Yes, why?"

"Do you want to join me hiking?"

Did I hear it right? Hiking: I love hiking, but I don't want company on my hikes, but I agree to his offer.

"Yeah, sure, I'm free tomorrow."

I agree to that offer because I need a new painting for my room and for my social media. "I know you love beautiful scenery, that's why I ask you." Yeah, I love beautiful scenery, and that's my style. "Are you guys going home now?" "Yeah, for sure." Ethan offers to drive us home, but Nicole says, "I'm sorry, but I need to go somewhere; I have an appointment." Like Nicole doesn't have a job because that's her plan to leave us two alone. "See you guys later." "See you, Nicole." I stare at Nicole with a weird face.

Ethan drove me to my apartment, and I double-checked my things to see if there was something left behind. "Thanks for the ride again, Ethan." "You're welcome. By the way, I'll be here tomorrow at 9am in the morning if that's good for you." I agree to his word and say, "Yeah, sure, no problem." We part ways, and I enter my apartment, and when I open my phone, my notifications blow up. "WHAT IS THIS!!!!" I saw my face on the internet. I didn't know that was a live show. I start reading comments.

Comments

"This girl is lucky" [boy 1].

"She looks old to me" [girl 1].

"I like her outfit." [Girl 2]

"OMG, that girl is beautiful!" [Boy 2]

And of course I don't read the negative comments; I put my phone away and rest for this day.
