Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

I woke up to the sound of my alarm , the bright morning light shining through my window. Today was the day. My first day as an intern at Sterling Enterprises. I could hardly believe it. I jumped out of bed, my heart racing with excitement.

As I got ready, I looked in the mirror and took a deep breath. I wanted to make a good impression. I brushed my hair, put on my favorite blouse, and paired it with a simple skirt. I wanted to look professional but still feel like myself. I couldn't help but smile at my reflection. This was a big step for me, and I was determined to make it count.

I headed downstairs, the smell of coffee and toast filling the air. My mom and grandma were already in the dining room, chatting over breakfast.

"Good morning, Sophie!" my mom said, her eyes lighting up when she saw me. "You look so grown-up!"

"Thanks, Mom," I replied, feeling a little shy. I sat down at the table, and Grandma handed me a plate of toast.

"Are you ready for your big day?" she asked, her voice warm and encouraging.

"I am," I said, trying to sound confident. "I really want to do well. I want to help us all."

My mom nodded, her expression serious. "We're counting on you, Sophie. This internship could open so many doors for you."

I knew how much my family relied on me. My mom worked long hours at the diner, and Grandma helped out whenever she could. I wanted to make them proud and help us prosper. I wanted to be the one to lift us out of our struggles.

After breakfast, I quickly grabbed my bag and headed for the door. "I'll see you both later!" I called out, my heart pounding with excitement.

"Good luck, sweetheart!" my mom shouted after me.

As I walked to the bus stop, I thought about what lay ahead. I was nervous, but I was also excited. This was my chance to prove myself, not just to my family but to myself. I wanted to show everyone that I could make a difference.

When the bus pulled up, I took a deep breath and stepped on. I found a seat by the window and watched the city pass by. I imagined what it would be like to work at Sterling Enterprises, to be part of something bigger. I could already picture myself in the office, surrounded by people who were driven and ambitious.

As the bus rolled closer to my destination, I felt a mix of hope and determination.

When I arrived at Sterling Enterprises, my heart raced with excitement. The building was tall and shiny, with big glass windows that sparkled in the sunlight. I stood outside for a moment, taking it all in. This was it, the place where I would start my journey.

As I walked through the glass doors, the lobby was bright and modern, with sleek furniture and colorful artwork on the walls. People were moving around, chatting and laughing. The sound of clicking heels and ringing phones filled the air. It felt alive.

I walked up to the reception desk, where a friendly woman smiled at me. "Welcome to Sterling Enterprises! How can I help you today?"

"I'm Sophie Turner, the new intern," I said, trying to sound confident.

"Great to have you here, Sophie! Let me show you to your department," she replied, leading me through the bustling office.

As we walked, I noticed the people around me. Everyone seemed focused and busy, but there was a sense of excitement in the air. Some were gathered in small groups, discussing ideas, while others were on the phone, making deals. I was no longer the little girl that always talked about boys and played in the park. I was literally working in an important place.

When we reached my department, I saw my new coworkers. They were all working hard, but they took a moment to welcome me. "Hi, Sophie! We're glad you're here!" one of them said with a smile. I felt a little shy but also happy to be part of the team.

The office was bright and open, with big windows that let in lots of light. Desks were organized with computers, plants, and personal touches. I could see people talking and sharing ideas.

I took a deep breath, This was my chance to learn and grow. I wanted to prove myself and show everyone that I belonged here. I was ready to work hard and make a difference.

As I settled at my desk, I couldn't help but smile. I was finally here, and I was determined to make the most of this opportunity.

As I settled at my desk, a woman with curly hair and bright glasses walked over. She had a friendly smile that made me feel a bit more relaxed.

"Hey there! I'm Mia," she said, holding out her hand. "Welcome to the team, Sophie!"

"Thanks, Mia! I'm really excited to be here," I replied, shaking her hand.

Mia pulled up a chair and sat down next to me. "Let me tell you what you'll be doing as an intern. We're really happy to have you."

I nodded, eager to hear more.

"First off, you'll help with research for our projects. That means finding information, looking at data, and putting together reports. It might sound a bit boring, but it's super important. Your work will help us make better choices," she explained.

I jotted down notes, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. "Okay, research and reports. Got it!"

"Yep! You'll also help organize meetings. That means scheduling them, sending out invites, and making sure everyone has what they need. It's a good way to see how things work around here," Mia continued.

I could feel my heart racing. This was a lot to take in, but I was ready for it. "I can do that!"

Mia smiled. "I know you can! And if you ever have questions, just ask. We're all here to help you."

"Thanks! I really appreciate it," I said, feeling grateful for her support.

"Oh, and you'll get to sit in on meetings and take notes. It's a great way to learn about our projects and how we work as a team. Just pay attention and don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't get something," she added.

I nodded, feeling more confident. "I will! I want to learn as much as I can."

Mia leaned in a bit, lowering her voice. "And don't be shy about sharing your ideas. We love fresh perspectives, especially from someone new like you. You might surprise us!"

I felt a little spark of excitement at her words. "I'll definitely keep that in mind!"

"Awesome! Now, let's get you set up with your computer and email. I'll show you how to access our files and the tools we use. You'll be up and running in no time," Mia said, standing up and motioning for me to follow her.

After Mia finished explaining my tasks, I felt a mix of nerves and determination. "Okay, let's get started," I whispered to myself, ready to dive into whatever i was about to do.

Mia led me through the office, showing me where everything was. As we walked, we passed a large window, and I noticed a group of people walking outside the building. They looked important, dressed in sharp suits and talking among themselves.

"Who are they?" I asked, glancing at the group.

Mia followed my gaze. "That's Elliot Hayes, our CEO, with some of the executives," she replied casually.

I squinted to get a better look. Among the group, one man stood out. He was tall and carried himself with confidence. Even from a distance, I could tell he had a strong presence. "That must be him," I said quietly, feeling a mix of curiosity and respect.

"Yeah, that's him," Mia confirmed. "He's a good leader. You'll get to know him better as you settle in."

I nodded, trying to take it all in. I couldn't see his face clearly, but there was something about the way he moved that caught my attention. It was clear he was someone who commanded respect..

"Thanks, Mia. I appreciate your help," I replied, feeling grateful for her guidance.

"Anytime! I'll check in on you later," she said with a nod before heading back to her desk.

As I sat down and powered up my computer, I couldn't help but think about the CEO and the executives. This was just the beginning, and I was ready to make the most of my time here.
