"Xavier" I called urgently and was handed a divorce file,my gaze went wide,captivated with great grief immediately I snatched a pen from a table next to the couch.I shouldn't have thought of marriage in the first place,I never liked her,but I didn't wish her death.
The tea kettle began to boil in the background and my ears were quick to drown it out as I signed the file,my hands going through my messy curls,letting my dark emotion bored in for a second.
"Submit the file to my lawyer,the wedding has been cancelled"
"What about the shared asset??" Xavier asked before getting hold of the file.
"I shall take care of that later,don't you worry.....we can't lose a thing to them"
He left just as my phone rang endlessly and I realised it was Michelle,my sister.
"Hey!! I heard you want to call off the wedding,are you insane!?" her yell almost turned me deaf and i had to turn on the loudspeaker before placing the phone somewhere far. "How are you going to pay for the lawsuit,uh!?? You should wait a bit longer till the bereaved family are settled"
"I can't keep hanging over the dead,I'm sick of everything" I spoke,not paying attention to her words and I left for the kettle just to prepare coffee.She wouldn't have been dead if I had not approached her for marriage.The doctor in charge of my treatment walked in with another file in his arms and I heard him uttered "Mr Mason,your treatment has been completed and you shall be discharged after you sign this file,we really appreciate you"
"I might not be able to come back here because I'm leaving for Ontario soon" I responded,taking the cup of coffee from the table and walking up to him. "I only came here for business and I must leave soon"
"We shall wait,anytime Mr Mason" he turned to leave while I took the file,scrolling over carefully before scrawling my signature beneath and I got a sudden call from Xavier.
"What's the matter?" I said on the phone,taking a sip of coffee.
"Mr Mason i don't think this is the right time for a divorce.Mr Mason...." The lawyer paused just to take in a sharp deep breath,still on the call when I questioned urgently with a strict tone, "What about Mr Xavier?I need to talk to him right now"
"I don't think a divorce is meant to be brought up now because Mrs Adrienno's body has not been found and there is no way the bereaved family would want their property to be shared,you just have to be patient"
"Just give the phone to my P.A,I need to talk to him,you can't understand....." The call ended which sent anger through me as i threw the cup across the room.There was nothing annoying than not able to break out of a marriage.I went to the rail by the entrance, snatched my suit jacket from where it was hung and walked out in long strides while dressing myself along the way,it was not a far walk to the elevator with my bodyguards and workers following behind.I was reckoned by total aggression,texting my driver to come pick me up ,my mind could not stop thinking of the wedding I must call off.As soon as I arrived at the first floor,a young lady bumped into me,falling into my arms,her face was veiled in her brunette hair which made it difficult to recognise her and she was dragged away by two of my men,they took her out of the building the moment some doctors ran to me.With a sudden frown on my face,they bowed so low,faking smiles like they were controlled to do so.
"We beg your pardon Mr Mason,I shall make sure she get punished" One of them spoke softly as I saw the nervousness through their gaze and I replied,threateningly "If you really want me to keep coming here,I would like you to get that lady fired this instant.Workers like her are too clumsy to be a staff of an hospital"
"I agree! We shall consider your complaint and make sure she gets fired,we are always at your service Mr Mason"
"Out of my way now" I shoved them aside,heading for the building exit while all the staff bowed their heads with utmost respect for a farewell.I rushed over to my blue G-Wagon,letting one my workers to pull the door open just so I could have my way in,staying at the backseat and my gaze caught the same lady side view through the rim of the car side mirror,she was on her knees,begging for a second chance at the feet of a doctor who seemed to be the boss.For no reason,she looked so much familiar,squinting my eyes in order to recognise her,but I couldn't remember where I have seen her and I looked away when the driver zoomed off.
BRIANN P.O.V
If only I was born with a golden spoon,my life would have been so much better,I won't be looked down on and no one would ever dare throw me scorns,I won't be discriminated for my little mistakes,it feels as if I have no past,I'm just like a cub with no territory.No family.Just a month ago,I was brought to the hospital and that's all I could remember,the hospital was my beginning....
"Briann! Briann!"Mrs Angeles voice brought me back to reality and I raised a brow in response, "What the heck are thinking about? help me with the bags,I'm leaving tonight"
I didn't hesitate to give an helping hand because Mrs Angeles is the only one I know I can rely on.She saved me from loneliness,I would have been dead if I had not met her,I had no job,nowhere to go,but she provided all for me in a month or maybe the gods didn't want me dead yet,I might have some mission to complete....
"Are you deaf??why ain't you answering me?" She kept pulling me in the face so I could snap out of my thoughts, "you're scaring me"
"Mrs Angeles! you must be hiding something from me,what if I'm truly an angel,what if I was sent to the earth for a mission!"
"Why can't you be sensible for once,I've told you that you're an orphan,I adopted you"
"Then why do I feel like this isn't all,I might be a mystical creature or what if I'm cursed,why can't I remember my past if I'm truly human" I jabbered,seeing how frustrated she had become and she smacked my head immediately.
"Don't be silly,there's no such thing as myth,so get this bags filled up,I must leave for Ontario soon"
"Well...it shall be me with no money, I hope you don't spend much days over there,please come back quick"
"You have a job so there's nothing to worry about"
"Well....about the job....." I paused,looking down to the ground and ran my fingers along the edge of my dress before spilling the truth.
"I was fired!"
"What!?why did you kept quiet all this while,but what happened?" She asked with a surprised look.
"I got fired because of my little mistake,so I won't resume to that job anymore"
"I can't just leave you here and I must leave tonight" She was occupied with thoughts,pacing around the room just to think of a better way and I realised a change in her look, "why don't you follow me to Ontario!"
"What about your boss?? I can't let you lose your job because of me,I'm afraid I can't"
"I have an idea,just come along and you'll find out" she spoke reassuringly as I listened to her plans.
"What if it doesn't work out as planned" I asked out of fright.
"Don't worry, I shall make sure it work out perfectly" We both smiled at each other.

Xavier rushed over to meet me immediately I alighted from the car,he was trembling on his feet,falling on his knees with a hint of tears in his eyes and I realised he had done a terrible mistake which I needed to know,but he stuttered nervously, "i-i-i beg your pardon plea-se"
"What wrong have you brought on yourself? tell me this instant and I shall forgive you" I said sarcastically,impatient to find out the truth.
"I'm not sure if I can tell you this,your mom...." he paused,trying to know my reaction when I rose my voice at him and pulled him by the collar.
"What happened to my mom?why can't you tell me anything!?" Judging his fright,it was definitely a bad news.
"Your mom is dead!"
"What!! That's impossible" I ran into the gigantic mansion,rushing to get to the upper floor and I met Michelle coming to a sudden stop, "what happened to mom?"
"She was poisoned" Her eyes was filled with sorrows as if she had been crying for hours and she turned her gaze to the stairs. "I hope she rest in peace"
"Whoever that did such won't get away with it" I said before going upstairs as fast as my legs could go,I entered the fourth room and saw mom lieing lifelessly on her deathbed,tears escaped with an ache torturing my weakened mind,all i could think of was vengeance over her death.The doctor approached me,cautiously shaking and fell on his knees to beg for my pardon. "I'm sorry I couldn't save Mrs Mason,please forgive me"
Out of anger,I went out of the room,staggered down to the living room in agony.I hope those who poisoned mom should also suffer,they deserve something more than death.All the maids came bowing innocently like they had done nothing wrong,I could see the mockery written all over their faces,it felt like they were rejoicing over my defeat.I became controlled by my emotions as I got hold of a knife from the table,they looked frightened,still doubting my actions while they trembled on their feet and took few steps away from me,my anger was burning up,unable to avoid.
"How did the poison got into her?" The room went silent,none of them changed their mind to confess the truth as they all said the same statement,grovelling on the ground for mercy,their voices grew my temperance and I stabbed one of them,letting the blood shed in the sight of others. "One of you shouldn't have done it in the first place" I croaked threateningly before calling on Xavier.
"Mr Mason" he gasped in awe,staying six feet away from me."I beg your pardon please spare their lives"
"Do you also have a death wish? Why are you so concerned about them.By any chance..." I paused just to take few steps closer,giving him the look that said; Are you seeing anyone of them as your woman.
He fell to my feet,bawling out so loud. "It's not what you think Mr Mason.I wouldn't dare break my promise to you,I shall serve you all my life"
"I want you to..." I brought out my phone to call the detective and stopped just to take a quick glance at my hand which dripped with the blood of the one I had murdered. "I would like you to be in charge of the investigation over my mom's death.Anyone found as a suspect and culprit should be executed.That's an order"
"what!?? yes,sir" The call ended and I scoffed wryly,turning my gaze to each of them in attempt of easing my anger. "Y'all are fired"
"Mr Mason!" Xavier cried out wholeheartedly, "i beg your pardon" "Xavier!! Come with me this instant" "Yes sir!" I was about to walk out of the house when I threw the knife aside.
