Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Normal. That's the most accurate word that describes this day I'm having, until it wasn't.

A normal day, well... normal for me at least. I woke up around 4 am, cooked and ate some food then bathed and brushed my teeth. After which I went outside to my porch at around 4:30 am and sat for over an hour on my rocking chair. At 6:00 am I get ready for school, at 6:30 am I head to school. I arrive at 7:00 am, leaving at 6:00 pm. After which, I cook then eat food, play some games, read something, then at 10pm I head to bed.

However. As I plopped myself to my bed, something felt different. For one, I can't feel the bed, or anything. When I open my eyes I find everything still dark, I look around, still dark. Matter of fact, I can't hear anything too, only my breathing and the probing noises I'm making. I wait for what feels like a long time, though probably only an hour or two.

Then... Something feels different, the glowing screen in front of me is a testament to that, there are words on it, though blurry. The words are slowly getting unblurry as time goes on, then... I can read it.

"You have been chosen to test out a Product created by REDACTED. The product may be familiar to you as it's been designed to be similar to the systems your kind are familiar with. The Product grabs something in the chaos of the multiverse and allows you to use whatever it grabs. Therefore the Product will be called The Roll System. The specific mechanisms of the Roll System are very complicated to mortal minds, therefore not much will be explained except the basics."

"The quality of what the Roll System grabs will be simplified as a D100 roll. The type will be determined by a wheel spin, as are the subtypes. Though, the results will be catered to you, the Holder of the System, for greater usefulness. 1-40 rolls will be Common, 41-70 will be Uncommon, 71-85 will be Rare, 86-95 will be Epic, 96-99 will be Legendary, and a 100 roll will be Mythic. All you need to know is that a higher roll will lead to better results for you. Rolls are affected by current locations as the Roll System is more likely to grab whatever is closest to your current world or universe. Also, Rolls will be gained by progressing your fate, so don't bother trying to gain more, just live your new life."

"Now then, off you go to a random world in the Multiverse. Do make good use of the Roll System, i know you will. Enjoy your new life... Fenton."

And just like that, the darkness around me disappeared like a popping bubble. All around me are trees, basic looking trees as you would expect them to look like. There are shrubs too, and normal looking grass... Wasn't I supposed to be in another world?

"Hmm... Another world, and yet... This looks so ordinary that if no one told me anything, I'd have thought I was just in a basic forest." I look around some more.

Then, a rustling sound. I look at the offending bush, slightly shaking suspiciously. I back away slowly and look around the ground for anything I can defend with. I grab a hefty looking rock, which weighs quite a bit too. Probably around half a kilo.

I stare down at the shaking bush, with nothing but a hefty rock on my hand. And then... bam! Out comes a weird looking rabbit. It's purple, it has a little nub on its head, and a bony protrusion no more than an inch or two. I stare at the weird purple rabbit hopping around, hopefully it's not aggressive.

"Huh... Cute." I ignore the weird rabbit and wonder what I'll do now. I then remember the Roll System that the glowing panel told me about. How do I activate it? Or rather, how do I open it?

I try out lots of phrases, such as "Open!", "Let's Go Gambling!" And the classic "Arise!". Then when I was about to give up, I thankfully noticed that when I just thought about the Roll System really hard, it'll appear.

Roll System

Available Rolls: 1

Rolled Results: None

"Hmm. How do I roll this thing? Do i just tap it?" Just when I tapped the 1 on Available Rolls, I got a message from the Roll System.

Use Roll?

 Yes. No.

I tapped Yes and got my first roll, I look at my results.

36 - Common

Cursed - Increase one Rank but with a Drawback

Skill - Auxiliary

Since this is the first roll, all rolls below Rare will have their rank bumped up once

Result: Auxiliary Skill, Rare

Echo Trace

Leave behind a stationary, invisible marker at your current location. For the next 30 seconds, you can instantly return to that point with a thought—teleporting back, regardless of terrain or obstacles in between.

Drawback:

"Temporal Displacement Burn"

Each use leaves the body lightly destabilized in time and space.

After teleporting back:

Movement speed is reduced by 20% for 1 minute

You cannot use the skill again until that minute is over

"Your body remembers both positions at once. The burden of existing twice slows you down."

"Woah, cool power. Though the drawback sounds kinda intense. How do I use it though?" I try to will the power to activate, and I feel something fuzzy, a numb sensation except when I move forward, the numb sensation remains in the same place... Outside my body. "Cool. Now, how do I teleport?" I try to will it to activate again, to imagine myself being in the numb area where I first activated the power. And suddenly, without flair, like a quick blink, I find myself in place of the numb area.

Then, not a second later, I feel a crushing weight on my body. As if the air around me has just thickened, I feel like I'm walking on thin water. "This must be the 20% decrease in speed. I feel terrible, but powers are powers i guess."

While I wait out the effects of the Drawback, I look at the weird purple rabbit again. It's eating some grass, it's weird how it's so comfortable with me around. Usual animals would've been wary of any animal other than them so close while they are eating.

While I am watching the purple rabbit adorably munch on some grass, the drawback expired. Just as i was about to leave, another rustle in the bushes, a short one, before it darted so quick towards the rabbit and bit its neck at speeds faster than I could react to.

It's a... Green Wolf? It looks like an average wolf except bulkier and with the same bony protrusion on its forehead like the purple rabbit. Moments after ripping the poor rabbit apart it looked at me with it's orange eyes, then slowly walked towards me.

Of course I booked it. I'm running as fast as I can from it, I left a fuzzy imprint beside a thicc tree as I am running away. It's chasing me and it's about to reach and bite me. I run some more, I am so out of breath. Too bad for the wolf, I just got my first power. Because as the green wolf lunged towards me, teeth baring and about to rip my body to shreds, I will with all my might to teleport to the fuzzy imprint I just left beside the thicc tree.

Then without a moment's hesitation, I climbed as quickly as I could up the tree. The drawback is making it harder and making me have to exert more strength, but by the time the wolf found me again, I was on top of the tree, sitting on one of the wider branches of the tree.

"Phew, thank god I survived that. Would've been embarrassing to die so soon after getting isekai'd to another world." I then rest my body against the thicc trunk of the tree while I wait for the wolf to lose interest in me. Poor rabbit though, it was kinda cute.

After a while, the green wolf leaves and seems to lose interest in me. A dumbass would think they're safe, not me. I leave an imprint on the wide branch and make my way down the tree. I pick up some stones and chuck em at any bushes I can find. And then at the 5th bush, I hear a yelp. A second or two later, the same green wolf rushes at me with the most furious face I've ever seen on a dog. Too bad for him, I'm already gone.

I'm back on the branch after a quick swap. A minute later, the drawback is gone. Though the wolf is still prowling around the tree like it has a grudge "Can't blame him though. If some weirdo beaned me with a rock and disappeared, I'd hold a grudge too."

"Guess I'm stuck in the tree for a while huh?" I then spend the next hour or two switching between resting on the wide tree branch and whenever the green wolf leaves and hides in a bush, I leave an imprint on the branch and slowly get down, take some rocks and after which I throw said rocks as hard as I can on where the wolf is most likely hiding. Then when it's rushing me, I teleport back up the branch.

It's been happening for quite a while now that the wolf is kind of limping a bit. The wolf is probably planning to eviscerate me the moment it gets its teeth on me. Though I am getting a bit hungry, I hope this doesn't last too long.

Another hour later, the green wolf, or as I'm getting used to calling it, Limpy. Has now collapsed on the ground, maybe it's sustained too much damage from my persistent stoning. I leave an imprint on the branch, then I get down, I pick a rock and stone Limpy one more time. After getting only a pitiful whimper, I let out a victorious whoop on my first victory in this new world.

Though i noticed that I'm not getting any notifications from the Roll System. Maybe kills don't matter? The panel did say fate progression is the only way to get more rolls. I look for a long stick and start poking Limpy with it. Limpy is looking at me with so much hate it's actually adorable. "That's what you get for trying to eat me, Limpy"

"Hmm, now i need food. I'm getting a bit hungry." I spot some juicy looking berries in a bush not far away. A quick stoning at the bush for any predators later and I'm collecting all the berries that look ripe.

Problem is that I don't know if it's poisonous or not.

I look at the berries on my hand, then at Limpy. I grin with the most devious of intentions, that I swear i saw Limpy shiver for a moment.
