Chapter 1 - Chapter One: The System?

Chapter One: The System?

In a spacious, luxurious room, warm morning sunlight filtered through tall windows draped in heavy velvet curtains. At the center stood a grand bed covered in silky sheets, and on it lay a sleeping boy.

After a moment, he opened his eyes, stretched his limbs, and sighed. He sat up slowly, gazing toward the windows to adjust to the light, then turned his eyes to the opposite wall, where a silver-framed clock hung, surrounded by golden-trimmed paintings.

6:30

He rose and walked toward what appeared to be the bathroom.Opening the door, he stepped inside, turned on the tap, and let cold water run over his hands. He splashed his face, shaking off the remnants of sleep.Looking at his reflection in the mirror, he saw a handsome face staring back.

Clear skin, a sharp jawline, and long black hair. But what truly drew attention were his eyes—one a piercing blue, the other a deep, earthy brown.A strange, silent contrast that left a lasting impression.

After showering, he stepped out, a towel wrapped around his waist, and glanced again at the clock:

7:01

"Am I late?" he thought, just as a knock echoed on the door.

He said:"Come in."

A stunning girl entered, her platinum blonde hair falling gently over her shoulders, and her blue eyes shining warmly.

"Good morning, young master," she said with a sincere smile that reached her eyes.

With a blank expression, he replied,"Good morning, Nina."Then added,"I told you, call me by my name when we're alone. Call me Luca."

Nina lowered her gaze, her voice tinged with hesitation and sadness:"I… I can't, young master. You're still my lord after all."

He didn't argue. Instead, he changed the subject:"What's my schedule for today?"

Nina cleared her throat, trying to hide her tone:"Breakfast with the head of the family. Then a tour of our properties. And in the evening... the third attempt at awakening."

Her voice faltered at the end.She handed him clean clothes and said,"I'll leave you to change, young master."

"Goodbye, Nina."He said, then turned his eyes toward a glowing transparent screen.

"What the hell is this?""Incomplete soul? What does that even mean? And what is this system?"

It all started two days ago, when this strange screen appeared—visible only to me.

Installing Destiny System... 1% --------------------------------

It took two full days to reach 100%, and now… this nonsense.

My name is Luca De Verg, heir of the De Verg family. They used to call me the "Forgotten Genius"—or the "Sleeping Genius".

I was once considered one of the brightest of my generation—until the day of the Awakening Ceremony.

The Awakening is a ritual held at the beginning of each year, when the young heirs and gifted children are tested. The official awakening age ranges from 11 to 15.

But that night…That cursed night... was the worst of my life.

I still remember how they laughed when I failed to awaken. How that filthy commoner awakened with a talent ranked SSS.That bastard… I hope he dies.

Maybe you'd think it's normal that I didn't awaken. After all, only 0.1% of people ever do.But I'm not just anyone. I come from a bloodline classified as Legendary, and my blood purity is SS—a level not seen in my family for over 500 years.

When I failed, people around me revealed their true faces.Even my cousin, whom I once considered a brother, betrayed me… and became friends with that damned commoner.

I fell into depression for six months, locking myself in my room for more than two.

But I didn't give up.If I couldn't awaken… I would train my body to its limit.

That was my decision—until that screen appeared.

What is it? Who created it? What's its purpose?

"Damn it all.""I'll accept. I'll become awakened. I'll become stronger. I'll find answers."

This "soul merging"… whatever it truly is,I understand one thing: I must accept a fragment of another soul—someone dead, or maybe alive—I don't know.He becomes me, I become him. We become one.I will live his memories, his emotions, his thoughts....

✔ Confirmation: Yes Compatibility rate: 98% The selected soul closely matches your profile. He is almost exactly like you.

"Oh... it's answering my thoughts now?"
