The filming set was buzzing with anticipation. Today marked the official recording of the new season of Perfect Couple Show, and all the cameras were focused on the entrance—waiting for the mysterious new guest.
Lin Chaoxi's heart sank when the system's robotic voice echoed in her mind:
"Ding! Detected presence of original female lead: Qin Wanrou.
Mission issued: sabotage her public image during the show.
Penalty for failure: emotional pain level increased to 30%."
Her grip tightened on the water bottle she held. Of course. The system wouldn't let her live in peace.
"Wanrou is such a popular idol," someone whispered nearby. "She rarely joins reality shows. Why this one?"
Chaoxi didn't have to guess why.
She looked up just in time to see Qin Wanrou enter the set in a soft pink dress, glowing with camera-ready elegance. Her every step was confident, measured, perfect.
Even the director looked a little starstruck.
"Let's welcome our new guest!" the host beamed. "Everyone, please get to know each other!"
The moment Qin Wanrou turned to greet the others, her gaze paused—just slightly—on Lin Chaoxi.
Something flashed in her eyes. Recognition? Suspicion?
Before she could react, the system issued another cruel command:
"Sabotage target: Qin Wanrou. Objective: Make her cry within 48 hours of filming."
Chaoxi inhaled sharply.
She didn't want to do this. Not anymore.
She had started off playing the villainess to survive—but now… now things were different. Especially with him here.
As if summoned by her thoughts, Shen Muyan walked into the room. He wasn't scheduled to appear until later, but apparently plans had changed.
Their eyes met.
His expression remained unreadable, but he was staring at her far longer than necessary.
