Chapter 5 - Bₑₜwₑₑₙ ₕₐₛₕₜₐgₛ ₐₙd ₕₐᵣₐₙₐₛ

Orion wasn't like her exes. He was aloof but genuine, challenging her views while respecting her values. He didn't just send emojis—he sent long, thoughtful messages. And when Elysia mentioned her love for traditional Filipino courtship, Orion surprised her.

One night, as they chatted over a video call, he picked up his guitar and strummed a tune. "This is the closest I can get to a harana," he said, his voice shy but sincere.

Elysia couldn't help but laugh. "You're not outside my window, but I'll take it." Orion wasn't one for traditional haranas, but he had his own way of showing love.

After ending the video call, Orion asked Elysia to come down and wait for him by the gate of her house. Orion arrived on his motorcycle, the wind tousling his hair and his hesitant smile making Elysia's heart skip a beat.

Motorcycle Ride Under the Stars

Elysia wrapped her arms tightly around Orion's waist as the motorcycle sped along the empty road. The cool night air bit at her cheeks, but she didn't care. The world stretched out before them, vast and full of possibilities.

He slowed down as they approached a hilltop, the engine rumbling to a stop. "Hold on," he said, his voice muffled by his helmet.

She stepped off cautiously and removed her helmet, gazing at the sprawling city lights below. "It's beautiful," she murmured.

Orion nodded, watching her as she took in the view. "You remind me of the stars," he said suddenly.

She turned to him, startled. "What?"

"They're steady," he explained, his gaze fixed on her. "Even when the night feels endless, they're there. That's how you've been for me—steady, even when I didn't think I needed anyone."

Elysia felt her heart tighten, tears pricking at her eyes. "That's the most poetic thing you've ever said, Orion. Are you sure you're not a closet romantic?"

"Maybe you're rubbing off on me," he said, his lips twitching into a small smile. "Come on. Let's keep riding."

Elysia laughed, tears streaming down her face as she hugged him. She had spent so long searching for love in all the wrong places, but here he was, her modern-day soulmate.

As the engine roared back to life, Elysia held on tighter, feeling the truth in her heart: Balang araw wasn't just a hope anymore. It was real, and it was him.
