Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 : Amulet

Anduin had no clear memory of Harry Potter's childhood story. He only recalled someone saying that Lord Voldemort had broken into the Potter family's home, killed Harry's parents, and was then defeated by Harry himself. He had no idea about the rest of the plot, not even how Harry had managed to overcome Lord Voldemort.

'Should he tell them? Warn them?'. Anduin was torn as he looked at their joyful faces.

Lily noticed Anduin frowning, lost in thought, and asked, "What's wrong? Are you nervous about going to school? I'm a Muggle-born witch too. When I found out I was going to Hogwarts, I couldn't sleep for nights. But once you arrive at Hogwarts, you definitely won't regret it".

"I wonder which house you'll be sorted into. It would be great if you ended up in Gryffindor. Of course, the other houses aren't bad either, except Slytherin". James joined in, enthusiastically promoting Gryffindor to Anduin. Though he only mentioned it briefly, it was clear James didn't have a high opinion of Slytherin.

"Don't listen to him, believe in yourself, Anduin. Every house has its own strengths. No matter which house you're sorted into, as long as you study diligently and understand what kind of person you want to become, you can achieve great success wherever you graduate from". Lily clearly wasn't impressed by James's way of recommending houses.

"Thank you, I'll keep your advice in mind". As someone with an adult soul, Anduin wasn't nervous about going to school, but seeing kind Lily share her wisdom, he didn't want to interrupt her.

Still, Anduin couldn't directly warn the Potter family about their fate. Should he just say that one day Lord Voldemort would break into their home, kill them, and then be defeated by their son? Not only would they not believe him, they were already enemies of Lord Voldemort, so they were probably prepared to face him anyway.

"Alright, it's getting late, Anduin. I'll take you back. It's not safe at night. James, Lily, you too".

"Yes, Professor McGonagall". Anduin and Professor McGonagall began to get up and gather their things.

Before leaving, Anduin turned to Lily and said, "Mrs. Potter, please be sure to stay safe. I wish you and your child well. Your child will surely be your pride in the future!".

After all, your child becomes the protagonist later.

Anduin didn't know what else to say, but standing in front of this kind woman, he couldn't help but offer a few words of caution. As for their future, his power couldn't interfere.

"Thank you for your blessing, Anduin". Lily looked at the young student and felt a sense of familiarity, perhaps he reminded her of herself when she was younger, or maybe someone she had grown up with.

"This is a small charm I made. Consider it an amulet. It's a gift to celebrate your enrollment. You can also write to me anytime". Lily looked at Anduin, pulled something from her handbag, and handed it to him.

Anduin took it and saw it was a coin-sized copper piece with a lifelike female deer carved on it.

"Thank you for your gift. I'll treasure it". Anduin carefully stored Lily's small present, said goodbye to the Potter family once more, and left with Professor McGonagall.

After another Apparition, Anduin—having gone through the uncomfortable journey again—no longer reacted as strongly as he did the first time. He shook his head, rubbed his slightly pale face, bid farewell to Professor McGonagall, and returned to the orphanage alone.

Back in his room, Anduin sat on the bed and reflected on everything that had happened today. The magical world held a strong allure for him.

Still, Anduin thought about how Lord Voldemort had not yet been defeated in this current magical world. He had no idea what the situation at Hogwarts was like during this time. It was too dangerous, and he didn't feel comfortable entrusting his life to others—especially as someone born a Muggle.

In today's magical world, he needed the ability to protect himself. Otherwise, he might one day be killed by Lord Voldemort or his followers. Recalling the information he had gathered from Professor McGonagall, Anduin summarised the following points:

First, the Ministry of Magic was currently enforcing strict security. Previously, underage wizards were only tracked by the Trace after their enrollment, but now they would be monitored as soon as they possessed a wand.

Second, since the Trace works through area-based monitoring, the Ministry cannot determine exactly who is casting spells in places where wizards gather.

Third, Dumbledore was still in charge, and the Ministry was actively resisting, so Diagon Alley remained relatively safe.

Having made his decision, Anduin resolved to leave the orphanage as soon as possible and settle in Diagon Alley. He needed to master some basic self-protection skills before starting school. With that in mind, Anduin took out his wand.

Looking at the wand—made of a jade-like material, matte in texture, and deep black in colour—he sighed softly, "From now on, it's just the two of us. I'll give you a name. Let's call you 'Dark Drawing.' Are you ready to show this magical world our power?"

As if in response, 'Dark Drawing' gave a slight tremble in Anduin's hand, releasing a few sparks. It didn't harm him, but it made him feel as though his connection with the wand had deepened.

With his mind made up, Anduin went to bed early, ready to begin his preparations the next day.

Meanwhile, Hogwarts at night resembled a sleeping dragon, silent, yet filled with the beauty of power.

Professor McGonagall climbed the stairs to Dumbledore's office.

"Albus, how was tonight's interview? I don't have much hope for Divination class. You know most Divination teachers in the magical world are frauds." Professor McGonagall spoke while watching Dumbledore stroke Fawkes, the phoenix.

"Then I regret to inform you, Minerva, that we'll soon be welcoming Hogwarts' first proper Divination teacher." Dumbledore recalled the astonishing prophecy he had heard in Hogsmeade earlier that day, composed himself, raised an eyebrow, and changed the topic again. "What did you think of meeting that new Muggle-born student? You seem to be in a good mood. I think his name was An . . . An . . ."

"Anduin, Anduin Wilson, a very disciplined and polite child. That's not just my impression; it's also based on the information gathered from the orphanage where he lives. We happened to meet the Potter family today as well. Lily's child is expected by the end of the month, and they also seemed to like Anduin quite a bit." Professor McGonagall, hearing Dumbledore mention the new student, didn't hesitate to praise him. Anduin had left a very positive impression on her.
