Chapter 6 - The Seed of Regret

Ella sat on the cold bathroom floor, the pregnancy test still in her trembling hand, the hospital envelope open beside her. The silence of the room was louder than her heartbeat.

Pregnant.

By *Kelvin Hart*.

The same man who once tore lives apart—now blind, broken, and barely breathing through each day.

She closed her eyes. *How do I tell him?*

---

In the sitting room, Kelvin was pacing—slowly, carefully—his hands brushing the wall as he moved. "Where's Ella?" he asked for the third time.

"She's resting," Hope replied, though her voice hinted something was off.

"She's never this quiet," Kelvin murmured.

Hope looked at him, her resentment now replaced by something else—confusion. She no longer knew if she hated him or pitied him… or if she was beginning to see a man trying.

"Sit," she said. "Let me help."

As she guided him to the chair, Kelvin whispered, "I still dream of your mother."

Hope paused.

"She used to hum when she was scared. I remember that."

"She cried, too," Hope replied coldly. "A lot. Because of you."

"I know."

---

That night, Ella finally emerged, pale but calm. Hope noticed the envelope tucked in her dress.

"Is that…?"

Ella nodded, tears brimming. "Yes."

Hope looked at her in disbelief. "Do you love him?"

"I didn't plan to," Ella whispered. "But love doesn't wait for permission. And now… I'm carrying the child of a man who can't even believe he deserves to be forgiven."

Hope stood silent, then walked out into the night.

---

Later, as Ella sat with Kelvin, he noticed her hand trembling against his.

"You're shaking," he said gently.

She inhaled deeply. "I need to tell you something."

"What is it?"

"I'm pregnant, Kelvin."

Silence. A deep, long silence.

Kelvin leaned back, mouth slightly open.

"But… I thought I couldn't…"

"The doctor said it was unlikely. Not impossible."

His hands began to tremble. "A child? After everything I did? After destroying one… another is coming?"

Ella placed his hand on her belly. "This one has a chance to grow in love… if you want that."

Kelvin broke down, silent tears falling from sightless eyes. "I don't deserve this."

Ella held his face. "Then become a man who does."

---

In the shadows of the hallway, *Hope* listened… heart pounding.

Her mother died bringing her into the world.

Now, another woman was carrying the child of the same man.

And for the first time in her life… she didn't know how to feel.
