Chapter 5 - I didn't break my fear

Adam grabbed Jin by the arm,

and gently pulled him into the bathroom.

He opened the door and said with a strange smile:

"It's okay, I won't come in with you.

Just take a shower, and we'll meet shortly.

I have a little problem, and I'll come to you, my dear..."

Then he closed the door behind him.

Jin stood inside the bathroom,

looking at the mirror...

his eyes red from crying,

his face covered with dust and tears.

He turned on the faucet,

let the water flow,

but didn't bring himself closer.

He just wanted to make a sound.

Suddenly...

He heard the door slam shut quickly.

Adam's voice disappeared.

The house or main room door opened,

then silence returned.

Jin quickly left the bathroom.

He began running from room to room,

searching for an escape... or a phone...

or a window to break.

He searched frantically,

rummaged through drawers,

looked behind curtains,

opened closets...

But nothing.

Everything was empty,

as if the house was made to be his prison.

He sat on the floor, hit his head with his hands,

feeling overwhelmed.

Then he remembered Adam's words...

blood... painting... killing quietly...

He got up again.

Fear began to control him.

He kept searching... exploring... moving fast.

Until morning came.

Someone knocked on the door.

"Jin... I brought food..."

said a quiet, small voice—a maid.

Jin stood in the corner,

looked at the small vase on the table,

held it with his trembling hand,

and quietly stepped toward the door.

He opened the door a little,

then hid behind it.

The girl entered...

And in one moment,

he raised the vase,

and hit her on the head with a strong blow.

The girl fell to the ground,

unconscious without a scream.

And Jin...

stood near her,

trembling,

holding the phone that had fallen from her hand...

Now I'll continue from the moment Jin grabbed the phone from the girl, starting the most dangerous phase:

Jin grabbed the phone with a trembling hand.

His heart was about to burst from his chest.

He pressed the call button...

The emergency number.

It rang...

A long ring,

then a woman's voice came through the line:

"Hello, this is the police station. Do you need help?"

Jin couldn't speak.

But he sat on the floor,

and began hitting the wooden floor with his hand,

each hit a muffled scream,

each beat a silent plea.

"Hello?"

"…Are you in danger?"

Jin hit the floor hard.

"Is there someone beside you? If yes, hit again."

Silence.

"Are you unable to speak?"

One hit.

"All right… don't worry. We have located you. We are on our way."

This sentence was like light in a dark tunnel.

Jin began to cry silently,

the phone never leaving his hand.

But he didn't know...

Adam had returned.

The door was violently opened.

Adam entered,

his eyes shining like knives,

looked at the girl lying on the ground,

then at Jin,

who was holding the phone like a frightened child.

He said coldly: "What did you do?"

At that moment,

one of Adam's men rushed in, panting:

"Adam! The police are coming! They're very close!"

Adam didn't answer.

He walked straight toward Jin,

grabbed his arm,

and tried to drag him away by force.

But the flashing lights of police cars had already appeared from the windows.

The sound...

the sirens...

the shouting outside...

Adam realized time was up.

He looked at Jin,

then whispered beside his ear:

"We'll meet again...

you naughty boy."

Then suddenly,

he pushed him violently to the ground.

Jin fell,

his head hit the wooden edge of the bed,

and he lost consciousness.

Everything went black.

He woke up in the morning in a hospital room in the city.

He felt a slight pain in his head,

but the important thing... was that he was alive.

He opened his eyes fully,

and saw beside him a man wearing a police uniform,

sitting in a chair writing in a small notebook.

It was Officer Kai.

Kai smiled gently when he saw him move.

"Hello, Jin... I'm Detective Kai.

You were on the line with us last night.

You saved yourself, brave boy."

Jin didn't speak,

but looked at him with wide eyes,

full of fear, exhaustion, and confusion.

Kai opened his notebook,

and said calmly:

"I know you're not speaking.

But it's okay...

I just need your help,

to find who did this to you."

He took out some small photos,

showed Jin pictures of gang members,

a photo of Adam,

and pictures from nearby traffic cameras.

He pointed at each photo,

saying:

"Have you seen this?

And this?

And this?"

Jin nodded slightly.

When he saw Adam's picture...

his body trembled.

His eyes widened,

and his pulse quickened.

Kai caught the sign.

"He? Is he the one who held you?"

Jin shook his head quickly.

Kai noted that down,

and closed his notebook.

"Thank you, Jin.

You are helping us a lot."

Then he put his hand on Jin's shoulder and said:

"I promise...

we won't let him hurt anyone again.

Especially...

you."

Kai left the room quietly,

while Jin kept looking out the window,

and the sun rose for the first time

in a long time in his heart.
