Chapter 4 - Myriad Dao Academy

Jarek took a long look at his new appearance and couldn't help but feel conflicted.

On one hand, he couldn't but feel good about this new change.

In his past life, he had average looks, but in this world, it was anything but ordinary.

It boosted his confidence by a significant degree.

If anyone else were in his place, they would feel the same.

Who wouldn't want to look better? Everyone would.

But on the other hand, he couldn't help but think of the disadvantages this new change would bring.

For one, he would stand out too much and that would bring unwanted attention.

He looked away from the mirror and asked, "How do I conceal my cultivation?"

[Go to the Skills section and you will find it there.]

Jarek went to the Skills section and started searching for the skill he was looking for.

It didn't take Jarek that long to find the right skill.

[

{Cultivation Camouflage}

A skill that allows for the masking of one's energy through the manipulation of one's qi.

Cost: 100 System Points

]

Jarek bought the skill with the free points he received from the system.

Information about how the skill worked instantly entered his mind.

Jarek immediately started trying out this skill which was an advanced qi manipulating ability that only those at the Master level can use.

Those at the Advanced Stage normally start out learning the simplest principles of qi manipulation, [Push] and [Pull], which moves the qi in one's body in one direction, throughout the body.

What allows the Cultivation Camouflage skill to function is a more developed version of [Push] and [Pull]—[Manipulate].

Jarek had to fail a lot of times just to apply this principle.

After all, knowledge and practical application are two separate things.

Once he grasped this skill, he was able to mask a majority of his cultivation, appearing as if he were at the Medium level of the Apprentice stage.

With this, one of Jarek's problems had been solved.

Looking out the window, Jarek noticed that night had fallen.

He had completely immersed himself in cultivation that he eventually lost track of time.

As he looked at the large and bright moon in the sky, he couldn't help but compare it to Earth's moon.

This world's moon is incredibly large and appears to be much closer to the planet than Earth's.

As he thought of this, his thoughts couldn't help but shift into worry. 'I wonder what happened to Anya after I died. System, is there a way to return to Earth?'

[It is possible, but you would first need to be the strongest in this world and fulfil certain conditions.]

Jarek couldn't stop a sigh from escaping his lips as he inwardly wondered, 'And how long is that going to take? Would she even be there once I go back?'

A few minutes later, Jarek went to bed, drifting into deep slumber.

After a night of rest, Jarek woke up feeling refreshed. It was a feeling his previous self had long forgotten with all the work he had to do.

Jarek got out of bed, took a shower, wore his blue uniform and left his room, with a clear destination in mind.

All around Jarek were large and small buildings alike, and people in blue walking in and out of them and a few others walking on the road.

All these people are students of the only cultivation academy in this city, the Myriad Dao Academy.

This academy is known to be the best in the world, admitting the greatest talents in the world and developing these talents in the best cultivation environment and with guidance from other experienced cultivators.

But almost all of its students are nobles from noble houses and royal families.

But exceptions can be made if one has a great talent for cultivation. And Jarek was absurdly talented before he even awakened his memories and got the system.

So, the academy was quite eager to take in this heavenly genius.

Jarek was currently within its walls, and as for where he was headed, that would be the auditorium.

Once it was in sight, several students could be seen entering the building, presumably new students like him.

As he entered the auditorium, he saw it was filled with people.

Most didn't react as he entered, but those close to him were directing all sorts of glances towards him.

Jarek had to deal with similar gazes as he headed here and sighed, knowing these types of looks wouldn't be going away any time soon.

"Do you know which house he comes from?" A male human student asked his fellow student.

"I don't know. I am seeing him for the first time." The student replied, trying to remember if he had seen Jarek before, but ended up with nothing.

"Wait...why does he look familiar? Ah! I remember him now. He is that commoner." A female student was finally able to recognize Jarek. "I coincidentally saw him yesterday. At that time he was battered and injured and looked so different from his current self."

"I can see what you mean. He doesn't look like a commoner with those looks." Another female student chimed in.

*Nod* "I finally understand why mother keeps around those boy toys now." The last female student said so as if now finally understanding her single mother's tendencies.

Jarek's lips twitched at those words, as the speaker wasn't even trying to hide her voice.

But if there was any consolation to this, it was that they didn't harp on his new appearance for much longer.

There were many beautiful and handsome people in this world, so it wasn't that big of a deal, and Jarek was thankful for that.

As Jarek looked at the front of the auditorium, he saw a man whom he assumed to be an instructor, sitting on a chair as if waiting for something.

[

Name: Ronald

Age: 104 years

Race: Human

Cultivation: Grandmaster (Initial)

Talent: Low Grade (Rank 2)

Physique: None

]

It was only after a few minutes that the man stood up, spoke up by first introducing himself and following up with an overview of what the students could expect from the academy, from its facilities to its completely free education.

But that didn't mean that the academy was running a charity.

The education is free, but the resources for cultivation aren't.

Everyone is responsible for getting their resources.

And these students who come from rich families certainly don't lack resources.

And as for why the academy was providing free education to its students, Jarek had reasoned that maybe these noble houses support the academy in some way and have come to some form of agreement.

"...You can fill out these forms to decide what you would want to learn here." Ronald held out the forms for each student to pick them.

As Jarek went through the form, he could help but notice how vastly similar and different this academy's educational system was, compared to Earth's.

The students are divided into two separate classes—Class A and Class B, across all four grades.

This division however held little significance as both classes would be taking most subjects together.
