Chapter 1 - Prologue: The Forgotten

My name is Sakura.

No... my name was Sakura.

But in the end, that name meant nothing.

I was born into a world where I was never needed, never loved, never wanted. I was nothing but a shadow in my own home. My parents looked past me as if I were made of smoke—a nuisance to the air they breathed. My siblings never spoke to me, never said my name unless it was to blame me for something.

To them, I was nothing more than the space between footsteps. Quiet. Ignored. Forgotten.

Outside the house, society had no need for me. I was just the invisible boy, alone in a world that refused to see me.

I didn't cry when I was diagnosed.

The doctors said the illness was rare. Aggressive. But curable— if treated early.

My family didn't argue.

They simply bowed their heads, left the room…

...and never came back.

So I waited.

I waited in that cold hospital bed for someone to visit, to care, to remember I existed.

But the only thing that ever came was silence.

I used to tell myself:

"It's okay. I don't need anyone. I'll be fine."

I told myself I understood. That I wasn't angry.

But it was a lie.

Deep down, something inside me simmered. Quiet. Burning. Venomous.

A silent scream buried under years of polite smiles and lowered eyes.

I was the good son. The quiet one. The one who never complained. Never asked for anything.

And in the end, I died the same way I lived—unnoticed.

Or so I thought.

Because death wasn't the end.

It was just the beginning.

I awoke in a world not my own, reborn as a child of the prestigious House of Valebran.

Renowned for their strength. Feared for their power. Honored for their bloodline.

My new name?

Machel Valebran.

I was given a second chance. A new world. A noble name.

But some things…

Some things just don't change.

No matter how much I wanted them to.
