Chapter 5 - Haoran, when are you going to get married?

Chapter 5

Li Mansion.

In the dining room,

"Haoran, when are you going to get married?" Mrs. Li asked as she looked at him with suspicion.

"Mum, very soon. I haven't found the one yet," Haoran said, trying to be mysterious, when the actual truth was that he wasn't looking for any "one" to actually find.

"Are you really looking for the one?" Mrs. Li asked her son, and he nodded eagerly.

"Okay, I will believe you for now. I just want to add that you if you have a problem with your little brother, you can tell me and your father so we can find a cure before it's too late."

The food that Haoran was about to chew was spat out when he heard that. "Mom, what do you mean by that? My little brother is perfectly okay."

"If you say so," Mrs. Li reluctantly agreed, though deep down she was already planning to go to the doctor to get a tonic. She wasn't bothered about a grandson at the moment but which omega will get married to an alpha who couldn't satisfy him/her.

"Yes, but I'm not your only son who is single. What about senior brother?" Haoran quickly dragged his senior brother, who was eating calmly, trying to exclude himself from the talk of marriage.

"Li Yuncheng, when—" She didn't get to add anything when she received a cold look from her elder son.

"Leave your elder brother. If he wants to get married, he will. If he wants to stay single—who else would marry him with that ice-cold face?"

"Mom, you're being biased," Haoran teased his mom, knowing fully well why she didn't continue talking. Yuncheng had inherited Haoran's father's features and character; they were both expressionless in their behavior and everything even as they ate their food.

The only one who could actually soften Mr. Li was Mrs. Li.

"Honey," Mrs. Li called out.

"What happened, my love?" The once expressionless man had a tinge of adoration as he looked at his wife.

"Your sons are bullying me," she said, as if they actually bullied her.

"Mom, you're too old for this," Haoran said as he looked disgusted by his mom's behavior.

Mr. Li looked at Haoran with a warning gaze. "Don't talk to your mum like that."

"Dad, you're the one spoiling her too much," Haoran complained. It was his father who spoiled his mum rotten. She didn't do anything apart from ordering her sons to get married—Haoran, mostly—since technically she's scared of Li Yuncheng.

Mr. Li smiled smugly, taking his son's words as praise. "When you get married, you can also spoil yours."

"I would never do such a thing," Haoran rejected the idea instantly. He wasn't a good-tempered man who took rubbish at all.

"It's okay," Mrs. Li said as she waved her hand to end the topic. "Let's not talk while eating."

Haoran rolled his eyes internally, like as if she wasn't the one who started the conversation.

Zhao Yuncheng finished his food before the whole family, dropped his utensils, and stood up. "I'm done," he said and walked out without waiting for any response.

"This boy…," Mrs. Li fumed.

"Don't stress because of him," Mr. Li patted his wife's back, trying to appease her.

"You're talking like as if you both aren't the same thing," Mrs. Li said, glaring at her husband in annoyance. Why didn't her elder son inherit one or two of her genes? She gave birth to two alphas as an omega, but none of them inherited her character. She really wished she could switch one for a cute omega.

"I'm sorry," Mr. Li bent his head in apology to appease his wife. He couldn't stand seeing his wife angry at all.

Seeing her husband's behavior, she couldn't help but soften. "Why are you apologizing? It's not your fault. I just pray he sees a partner that will make his life a hell."

Many mothers pray for a happy marriage for their sons, but Mrs. Li was quite the opposite.

"Yes, I also pray so," Mr. Li nodded his head eagerly.

"Stupid excuse of an alpha," Haoran scolded under his breath softly. He didn't dare say it out loud so as not to be killed by his father.

Haoran ate his food quickly with disgust at his parents.

"Why are you eating too fast?" She asked, a little worried about why her son was rushing.

Haoran made sure to finish his food, drop his utensils, and take a glass of water. Then he responded, "I don't want to stay with gross parents." And ran away.

Haoran could have sworn they were scolding him behind his back, but he didn't bother looking back and ran to his bedroom.

He threw himself face flat on the bed, muffling a frustrated groan. His thoughts were already racing, tomorrow was the day of that event.

The day when he was gonna make that enigma pay. But the problem was that he st

ill didn't have a plan yet. He closed his eyes as he went straight to sleep.
