Chapter 3 - You are enough

3)

For the first time she realized just how tall she was. She had to be around eight feet tall. Her skin was a smooth ebony. Her pure white hair cascaded down her back, barely missing the floor. Both seemed to give off a light of their own. Her eyes were shaped like perfect almonds. Her violet eyes reflected everything she saw. Her nose was small and slight, while her lips were full and playful. A smile always seemed to tug at the corner of her mouth. Her wings were tucked away behind her. Maybe that was why she was able to see her better. Her dress was an impossible white. It was a sleeveless tunic, tied at the waist. The front went to mid thigh with a thin layer over it that flared out around her trailing on the floor behind her. It was so thin it should have been seen through but it wasn't. Ordinarily the half inch trim of midnight black on her long dress would have been missed, but the stark contrast between the two colors made it stand out all the more. It seemed a bit out of place but it still suited her.

The woman stood over her, examining every inch of what she could see of the girl.

"Looks like you still aren't fit for flight just yet. Though perhaps you are up for leaving this place? We can go anyplace you wish, Le...little bird." The woman frowned to herself then quickly returned a smile to her face..

"What were you about to call me?"

"Nothing in particular" She mocked, feigning ignorance. Although the girl knew she was blowing her off; she didn't press it. She was all too happy that she was here at all.

"In that case, what do you call yourself?"

Pressing one finger to her chin, it seemed like the woman had to contemplate something,  but finally she answered.

"I am Lahahana."  For some reason hearing her name made the girl smile. Even without knowing what Lahahana meant she couldn't help but feel it described her to a tee. So she made a mental note to look it up later.

"What shall I call you?"

Now it was the girls turn to scrunch up her face in thought. After a minute she softly said, "Leah". It wasn't that she thought this was her actual name or even that she liked that name. She was now certain Lahahana knew something about her, at the very least she knew her name. She didn't know why she wouldn't come right out and tell her.  So by choosing a name that started with the same sound of the name she was going to say, she thought maybe one day she might slip up and say it.

Lahahana knew immediately what she was up to but said nothing. Even if she somehow said her name she did not think any harm would be done, so Leah it was. Still Leah did not fit her.  "Very well Le...Lea...Leah." She cleared her throat since the name came out as part croak. It was unexpectedly hard to call her by any name that wasn't her's. The sounds caught in her throat painfully, unwilling to sully her wonderful name.

Seeing her struggle Leah changed her mind. "It's fine you can just call me little bird. It's cute. Plus seems like something a mother might call their daughter. Or something a lovers would say." The thought was bittersweet,  more bitter than sweet. She remembered that no one was out looking for her; that she may very well have no family. Pushing the thought to the back of her mind she returned her attention to Lahahana.

Lahahana said nothing as she worked through her own thoughts. "Perhaps I will call you both. Le..ah, where do you wish to go?"

"Home." The answer came from her subconscious. It was out before she had a notion to stop herself. "I.. that isn't...just being with you is enough." She could feel herself blushing feverishly. Not knowing which of her replies was worse, she forced herself to glance at her. Lahahana was laughing and smiling her brilliant smile, only this time there was a bit of triumph in her voice.
