This is a very basic design.
The initial designer of the Prosthetic Control Center believed that no matter how skilled an engineer might be, it is impossible to prepare for all emergencies. This was his explanation in the twenty-first century.
"Why do we not use machines entirely to repair machines? Why not use artificial intelligence for debugging? Because we can tell a machine what 'correct' is. But we can't create a set of all possible fault states and load it into the machine's database. A machine can only assess 'this is not a normal state,' but cannot handle the endless issues. In other words, if an engineer can foresee all failures, they should be able to prevent all failures."
"Failure often represents an unforeseen situation for the designer."
