Chapter 29 - The Barbershop Part 3

Have you ever had someone who ruined your day the moment you saw them? Your day can start off romantically or beautifully until that person shows up, or someone mentions their name, or anything related to them.

Xiao Lan and I went out to breakfast, but Xiao Lan's phone kept ringing. I could see from his eyes that he was also annoyed by the number of calls received per minute. I chewed my steak and looked at Xiao Lan. "Xiao Lan, just answer the dang phone or shut it off."

Xiao Lan said, "No need." He replied like he already knew what Foxy Yaya was going to say to him.

I asked, "What makes you not want to answer his calls?"

Xiao Lan said, "He asked me if I could be his bodyguard again."

I asked, "What did you say?"

Xiao Lan said, "I told him: I will consider it."

I looked at Xiao Lan, holding the knife and fork tightly in both hands. I sarcastically said, "Oh, if the money's good, why not go for it?"

Xiao Lan's phone vibrated, and he flipped it up. He stared at it for a while, then his phone rang. He grabbed it and said, "I have to answer this call."

I sneered at Xiao Lan, "Who is it?"

Xiao Lan said, "It's Yaya. He has something important to discuss with me." He walked out of the café and started talking to Foxy Yaya.

Xiao Lan stood by the window where I was sitting, looking at me beautifully. I propped my right elbow on the table and stared at Xiao Lan. Looking at him, my heart pounded.

I murmured blankly, "Hmmm... you are surely a juicy piece of meat."

"Yes, he is. A lot of people want him, and they question why he chose you."

I suddenly woke up from my daze and looked across the table. I was taken aback when I saw Black sitting in front of me with a glass of red wine. I was startled. "Blackie...? What are you doing here?"

Black said, "Waiting." He swirled the wine inside the glass.

I suddenly remembered that Xiao Lan once told me that Black is the Angel of Death. I scanned the room, looking at the people inside this restaurant that Black was here to claim. I looked back at Black, and he was smiling at me.

I asked worriedly, "Are you here to claim me?"

Black smiled and said, "I can't tell you. It's a secret." He took a sip of the red wine. "Why don't you go back to the hospital? Fang Yi wants to talk to you."

I said nonchalantly, "Hell no, I'm not going back. I've decided to take my health problems to another clinic." I cut a large piece of steak and started chewing. I glanced at Xiao Lan and saw him walking to the side of the road.

I saw Xiao Lan open the car door, and Foxy Yaya walked out in an expensive, furry white lab coat.

I'm sure this dead animal wanted to sleep peacefully and not be hung around some rich man's neck. I wouldn't be surprised if there were animal spirits floating around Foxy Yaya. I sliced another piece of my steak, stuffed it in my mouth, and started chewing grumpily.

Xiao Lan accompanied Foxy Yaya to our table. Xiao Lan looked at Black and nodded in recognition. Black also nodded. Xiao Lan sat beside Black.

Foxy Yaya asked, "Ah Lan, if you want to have steak, why not come over and I will cook them for you?" He glanced at me. "This place looks cheap." He went on to complain that the café was cheap, from decoration to the food; I mean, he even had a problem with the napkins on the table. I am 1000% sure that in any café or restaurant they will serve white napkins.

Foxy Yaya continued to pick up the menu. He started showing off his language skills, pronouncing with a French accent as he read the menu to the waiter.

Black looked at me and asked, "Getting annoying?"

I asked impatiently, "Can he see you?"

Foxy Yaya said, "Hey, I'm sitting right here next to you. Don't you dare refer to me as 'she.' I'm a 100% perfect man, but…" He smiled with a hidden secret. "If Ah Lan wants… I don't mind being his woman."

Black and I both shivered; Xiao Lan remained expressionless.

Xiao Lan asked again, "Why are you calling me?"

Before Foxy Yaya could react, I interrupted. "I should correct that: why have you been calling Xiao Lan every five minutes since this morning? Do you know how annoying it is that I have to listen to Xiao Lan's phone ringing every five minutes, ruining my morning sleep?" I looked to the right and saw a young couple sitting at their booth ordering food.

Then the waitress finally brought Foxy Yaya's steak to him. I was glad this café worked fast; if we were in a different café, I'd still have to listen to Foxy Yaya's crap for another hour or so. I watched Foxy Yaya poke the corner of his mouth with the tip of his pink tongue and lick the gravy. I suddenly had no appetite for my steak.

I sighed irritably and looked at Black, "Can you just touch him?"

Black chuckled and shook his head. He turned to look at Xiao Lan. "What is he good for? I don't understand why you left me for him?"

I glared at Xiao Lan, "Have you dated him before?"

Foxy Yaya glared at me and said, "Although we've never dated, the bond between me and Ah Lan is as sacred as the holy Mount Everest."

I didn't look at Foxy Yaya. My eyes were locked on Xiao Lan's leech eyes. I answered Foxy Yaya, "You shut up."

Xiao Lan said, "It's complicated…"

I gritted my teeth. "How complicated?" My angry eyes were burning, and if I were Cyclops, my eyes would shoot laser beams all over the place. Once I had expressed my anger, Black would be busy collecting the souls of the dead.

Foxy Yaya squinted at me and said, "Xiao Lan and I went on dates many times before. Xiao Lan…" He smiled. "Do you remember the one we spent all weekend alone in our hotel bed?" He sliced a steak, chewing annoyingly. "Ha... how I miss those days."

I was about to cut Xiao Lan's neck with a dining knife when the man and the woman sitting at the booth caught my attention. I was completely engrossed in this young man and woman, completely ignoring the cunning Yaya's nonsense.

The young man handed the fish sauce to the woman, and she said, "Cảm ơn anh."

I muttered to myself, "Anh?" I stood up. Foxy Yaya grabbed my wrist. I jerked my hand away. "Let go!" I quickly gave way to the young man and woman.

The woman looked at me and asked, "Can I help you?"

I asked, "What language did you just speak?"

The woman felt offended and asked angrily, "What? Is it a crime to speak our native language in China?"

The young man looked at me with angry eyes. I looked down at him and saw that his arms were covered in tattoos. I knew people with tattoos have a high pain tolerance.

When Lisa and I were dating, she asked me to have her name tattooed on my chest so she could stare at it every time we had sex, but I was afraid of needles and had a weak tolerance for pain. Instead of a real tattoo, I bought children's water-tattoos and put them across my chest. Yeah, that's how I took Lisa Wang's virginity, but after our sex, I was sweating so much from all the pumping and tension, the stupid tattoos peeled off. Lisa was mad at me for a whole month. We almost broke up because of it. I promised her on the pretext that I would work hard and save money to get a real tattoo. So far, I'm glad I haven't, otherwise, I'd need a ton of money to get rid of those tattoos.

The young man said with a heavy accent, "You want the knuckles of this fine fist?"

I raised my hand to the tattooed man and said, "No, I just want to know what language you two speak. I listen to this beautiful song." I pulled a chair from the other table and sat at the end. "You don't understand how beautiful this song is. I love that the woman keeps saying 'anh'." I raised my voice as if I was going to sing on stage. "For me, this beautiful song unites my heart with the Milky Way, where love exists only in hazy strips of light, only visible in the night sky, made of indistinguishable beautiful stars, and only those who are deeply in love could understand." I sighed and shook my head. Honestly, I don't know what I just said, but since Chinese is not their native language, I don't believe they fully understand my nonsense. "How beautiful… how sweet it sounds."

The young woman smiled suspiciously, "Anh?"

I said, "Yes, that's it."

The young woman said, "We speak Vietnamese."

I was surprised. "Vietnamese...? So, not Cantonese?"

The young woman said, "No, we are exchange students from Vietnam."

I smiled at the two young people. "Thank you so much. Order anything you like. My treat." I put Jack's card on the table. "If you run into any trouble, call this person."

I walked back to the table. Xiao Lan and Foxy Yaya were gone. I asked Black, "Hey Blackie, where's the fox and his prey?" Black's eyes were on the people in the corner of the café, celebrating a child's birthday.

I knew they would be in the bathroom because Xiao Lan wouldn't leave without me. I walked to the bathroom, and in the larger stall, I heard gasps and grunts. The stall began to shake a little. I'm very familiar with the other panting and breathing sounds, and if I'm not mistaken, the one moaning is Foxy Yaya, and the one panting is Xiao Lan. I can't believe these two guys can do such shameless things in public! I stood with my hands on my hips, looking at my feet on the ground. My muscular hands gripped the handle tightly and yanked the door open. I saw Foxy Yaya flying forward. I opened my mouth and stepped back with an "Ah…" sound, and Foxy Yaya's lips kissed mine. Then my airway got stuck. I couldn't breathe or speak. I gasped at Xiao Lan and pointed to my throat. Foxy Yaya fell to the ground and began to gasp for air.

Xiao Lan frowned and sighed, "Aiya…" Xiao Lan wiped his sweat, stood behind me, and started to try to open my airway. After two minutes of pumping me from behind, I finally spit out the piece of meat that Foxy Yaya had spit into my mouth. I felt disgusted, so I continued to throw up in the trash.
