Control everything?
Don't kid yourself!
Who can truly control everything?
Is it Gaia, the Creator God? Or perhaps that supreme Absolute God?
The truth is, no god can truly control everything. Perhaps only a being that transcends even the Absolute God, a supreme entity that surpasses all—a being for whom everything is just a game—could claim to do so.
Beneath such a being, everything is filled with uncertainty.
This is a fundamental truth in mythology: nothing is ever certain. No god, not even the Absolute God, can eternally grasp control over everything.
Of course, the mythological world we speak of does not involve the Absolute God. In fact, even an Absolute God could be ambushed by the very gods they created within their own mythological world, losing everything in the process.
Think about it.
What does that suggest?
The implications are clear.
Gaia, as a Creator God, faces the same challenge. If she desires to control everything, it won't be easy.
Can she succeed?
No one knows.
Will she be victorious?
No one can say for sure.
In the end, it's all just a mystery.
For this reason, Erebus and Nyx, the ancient god couple, are content with their current situation.
Ancient gods, by their nature, are part of the mythological world—they represent a fragment of that world. They can never truly separate from it.
Of course, "never" is just a metaphor. Once a being transcends the mythological world, they can break free. Either they depart with an existence equal to the mythological world itself, or they leave in another way.
This is simply reality.
Erebus and Nyx are well aware of this. They understand their place and are satisfied with it. After all, they've invested in Hades, helping him advance, and now they are essentially enjoying a peaceful retirement.
Isn't that enough?
Do they really need to be like Gaia, trying to control everything, not knowing what the outcome will be?
Forget it!
In short, Erebus and Nyx maintain a serene attitude toward everything, unconcerned and unfazed, keeping an endless calm.
And in the course of their idle conversation, they indirectly confirmed something.
Even as ancient gods, it's unclear whether Gaia can truly control everything with her current actions. The answer remains uncertain.
The Netherworld Sea and Star!
This is one of the five essential components of any mythological world.
Hades has been steadily cultivating the Netherworld into a true mythological world, using the World Tree as the core and pairing it with his divine kingdom of the underworld. Even if it's a miniature, weaker version, it is still on par with an authentic mythological world!
Hades already possesses the star realm, and now with 30% of the Earth's essence in his hands, it's only a matter of time before the ground element falls under his control.
As for the underworld? That is an easy matter. Hades could designate either the Netherworld or the Abyss as the underworld element, and it would be done without much effort.
The only things remaining are the sky and the sea.
So, what does this mean?
The meaning is clear: Hades' growth is nothing short of extraordinary. He has progressed at an astonishing pace—so fast that it leaves others in awe, unable to comprehend or rival his power.
If this continues, what will the future hold?
It's hard to say.
But Gaia seems unfazed by all of this, continuing as if nothing matters.
To all the gods, even the ancient ones, Gaia is playing with fire. When the flames truly ignite and spiral out of control, what will happen to her?
Who knows!
And what does any of this have to do with Erebus and Nyx?
For this ancient god couple, they're just spectators at this point, watching the show unfold with a casual interest.
After all, it doesn't matter to them.
They have no personal stakes in it, and they are perfectly content.
...
The Netherworld!
While turmoil brews outside, the Netherworld remains calm.
"Mmm…"
Hypnos, handling his various tasks, pondered aloud as he finished his work. "Thanatos, what do you think the starting point should be for the next Holy War?"
"The next Holy War…"
Thanatos echoed Hypnos' words, falling into thought.
Hypnos.
Thanatos.
The twin gods managed many affairs of the Netherworld. While theoretically, each aspect of the Netherworld had its own administrators, anything that reached the twin gods' desks was of significant importance.
And that's the crux of the matter.
Anything that made it to the twin gods' attention was never a small issue.
That's why their work may seem limited, but in truth, they were constantly busy with high-stakes matters. After all, their responsibilities were never trivial.
The operations of the Netherworld, a vast realm of death, involved a massive and intricate system. It wasn't something that could be easily summarized in a few words. The workload was not only enormous but also immensely detailed.
And now!
The twin gods were also responsible for preparing for the next Holy War.
Unlike the first Holy War, the second one needed to be conducted by the book. All the original rules must be followed.
If the rules were broken, what would happen next?
The answer was obvious.
Embarrassment.
No god-king could afford that. They might lose, but they would not allow themselves to be shamed in the process.
