Both of the Twin Gods had to carefully consider this matter.
For the Underworld, achieving victory in the Holy War was, frankly speaking, not difficult. The power of the Underworld could easily overwhelm both the Sea Realm and the Celestial Realm. The rules that were considered fair actually worked to our advantage.
This fact was beyond doubt.
However, bringing along the burden of the Sanctuary to secure victory was another story entirely.
"Hypnos," Thanatos pondered for a moment before speaking, "What do you think about selecting the finest warriors for the Sanctuary? We could choose the elite from among the people of the Underworld and have them reincarnate as a new generation of Saints."
Thanatos offered his idea.
Hypnos, reflecting on it, also fell into deep thought.
There was no denying that this idea was highly feasible. In the Holy War, the human vessels of the gods were only a part of the equation. Their strength at most reached the level of a Second-tier God, and it was impossible to go beyond that.
The core of the battle, however, lay in the enhancement of the fighters' capabilities.
And improving those capabilities was crucial. The various aspects of a warrior's abilities were incredibly important.
Expecting the Sanctuary to select 88 qualified Saints over a span of a million years was laughable. From any angle, it was practically an impossible task.
So, the key question became: How should we take it further?
In the eight great prisons of the Underworld, there lived many souls that had been carefully selected. These souls were loyal to the Underworld and had seen significant improvement in their talent, abilities, and qualifications.
If we were to enhance and select them through this method?
That…
For the Sanctuary, it would be of utmost importance. Especially with the help of the Underworld, securing victory in the second Holy War seemed almost inevitable.
"Hmm…" Hypnos thought for a moment, then said, "Thanatos, go and speak with Prometheus. Ask him if this method is viable. If it is, we can channel the power of the 88 constellations into the Underworld and guide 88 souls to become the 88 Underworld Saints."
"Alright!" Thanatos nodded seriously, clearly in agreement with this idea.
With that, the matter was settled.
Afterward, Thanatos left, and Hypnos lowered his head, continuing to deal with the overwhelming amount of work before him. Even as a god of the Underworld, Hypnos found himself buried in tasks, requiring a vast amount of time and energy to handle and refine them one by one.
…
Meanwhile, Persephone and Hestia, two goddesses of the Underworld—one the Queen of the Underworld, the other the sister of the King—were sitting unceremoniously under the mulberry tree, staring at each other. They seemed to be thinking deeply about something, though it also looked like they were a bit confused by their own research.
The two goddesses exchanged glances, opening their mouths as if to say something.
But in the end, both fell silent.
The issue was clear: they really didn't know what to say. The situation was complicated and troublesome.
It was chaotic and extremely difficult to handle properly.
"Big Sister…" Persephone finally broke the silence after a brief pause. "Are you sure there's a chance this will work?"
Hestia scratched her head, awkwardly replying, "I'm not sure either! But we have to try, right? If this works, the improvement it brings will be enormous!"
"But!" Hestia added, "Even though that's true…"
She sighed with some frustration. "The problem is, if we want to try, we have to experiment with the mulberry tree. And if something goes wrong?"
Hestia was obviously worried.
The mulberry tree, the demonic stars, and Hades—these three were almost inseparable.
If even the slightest mistake occurred…
The consequences would be unimaginable. The Underworld could be thrown into chaos in an instant.
However, the potential benefits were just as clear.
If their experiment worked, the gains for the Underworld would be immense and unparalleled.
Yes, Persephone and Hestia, two of the most distinguished goddesses of the Underworld, were currently researching whether they could combine the Underworld, the mulberry tree, and the demonic stars.
Their idea was to merge these three elements, using the Underworld's reincarnation system to spread this unique energy into the Chaos Sea and thereby filter out the perfect Underworld Saints.
The idea was bold, no doubt. But it was also feasible, otherwise, the two goddesses wouldn't be here studying it—they'd have given up long ago.
However, the crucial point was that success required testing it on the mulberry tree.
But what if something went wrong? That would be a complete disaster.
That's why both goddesses remained silent, fortunate that the mulberry tree was located in a forbidden area of the Underworld where no one could enter without permission.
Otherwise, if the entire Underworld knew that these two goddesses were crouching here with no grace whatsoever, it would be quite the spectacle.
Persephone and Hestia exchanged glances once more, both sinking into silence, seemingly unsure of what to say.
At that moment, a trace of divine power flowed into their bodies and minds.
In an instant, a glimmer of light appeared in their eyes.
Perhaps they should try it out. What if it succeeded?
