Chapter 85 - Ch 84 - Acceptance

A noblewoman clutched her chest, swaying as if she might faint.

A warrior's grip tightened around the hilt of his sword as if expecting a Frost Giant to suddenly appear and attack.

Another man let out a nervous laugh, eyes darting around wildly.

"No way! Loki is… a Frost Giant?!"

"Every time my daughter misbehaves, I tell her the Frost Giants will come for her. How am I supposed to sleep at night knowing the king's son is one of them?!"

"By the gods! This is madness!"

The room buzzed with disbelief, horror, and uncertainty.

And in the center of it all, Loki stood still.

His emerald eyes—usually brimming with mischief, arrogance, or amusement—held nothing but eerie calmness. He had already learned the truth through Seph.

The storm that should have shattered him had already passed, leaving behind only acceptance.

But Thor?

Thor looked like his entire world had just collapsed.

His mouth opened and closed, but no words came out. His mind raced, trying to grasp what he had just heard.

Loki… a Frost Giant?

My brother is a Frost Giant?

No, no, no—this has to be some kind of mistake!

Thor clenched his fists, his face turning red—not with anger, but with sheer frustration. How had he never noticed? How could he have spent centuries with Loki and never once questioned it?

He turned to Loki, eyes pleading. "Loki, say something!"

But Loki just smiled.

Not a mocking smirk. Not a bitter grin. But something… peaceful.

"Father," Loki finally spoke, his voice smooth and unwavering. "I understand what you mean. I will not let you down."

Odin let out a long breath as if a heavy burden had been lifted from his shoulders.

"My son," He whispered.

But Thor?

Thor felt like he had been punched in the gut.

Loki just accepted this? So easily? No rage, no grief, no fury?

"What is wrong with you?!" Thor exploded, his voice echoing through the hall. "This doesn't make sense! You should be furious! You should—"

"Enough."

Seph's deep, commanding voice cut through Thor's outburst like a blade.

The hall fell silent once more.

Seph, who had been standing at the side, watching this ridiculous spectacle unfold, finally spoke. His golden eyes locked onto Thor's, sharp and piercing.

"Why should he be angry, Thor?" His tone was almost mocking, but there was an edge of undeniable authority to it. "Because he finally learned the truth? Because he was lied to? Or is it because you can't accept the idea that your brother—your equal—was never meant to sit beside you as a prince of Asgard?"

Thor flinched.

"Your father raised Loki with the promise of a throne," Seph continued, stepping forward, his mere presence making everyone instinctively move aside. "And yet, from the very beginning, that throne was never meant for him. You basked in your birthright, while Loki was unknowingly chasing an illusion."

His golden gaze swept over the Asgardians, who had been whispering and muttering among themselves.

"And you…" He let out a low chuckle. "You, the mighty people of Asgard… you sit here and judge, gasping like startled birds. But tell me—what would you do if you were in Loki's place? If everything you believed in turned out to be a lie?"

The crowd fell deathly silent.

Seph turned back to Loki, crossing his arms. "You're handling this better than I expected."

Loki tilted his head, that small smile never leaving his lips. "I have already processed my grief. There is no use dwelling on it."

Seph let out a hum of approval. Interesting. So he has truly grown.

At the edge of the throne, Hela watched the entire exchange with narrowed eyes. Her arms were crossed, and her expression was unreadable.

So, father was planning to use Loki as a tool for peace?

She scoffed internally. She was no stranger to Odin's manipulations. But what truly intrigued her… was Seph.

He sees everything. Sees through everyone.

And yet, he did not interfere. He merely pushed and observed.

Hela's lips curled into a smirk.

Fascinating.

Meanwhile, Frigga, her heart ached as she gazed at Loki. Her son. No matter his bloodline, no matter what Odin had intended, Loki was hers.

She wanted to reach for him, to pull him into her arms and tell him none of it mattered. That he was still her little boy, the one who used to sit by her side and listen to tales of old, the one who had always sought knowledge and approval.

But she knew… this was something he had to come to terms with on his own.

So instead, she walked to him, placed a gentle hand on his cheek, and whispered, "My son, no matter what happens, you will always have a home here."

For the briefest moment, something flickered in Loki's eyes. A softness. A hint of emotion.

But then, it was gone.

He simply nodded.

Odin, seeing everything play out, finally spoke.

"This was my plan." His voice was heavy, as though centuries of secrets and burdens weighed upon it. "I had hoped for unity, for peace. But perhaps…"

He exhaled. "Perhaps I was wrong to keep this from you."

Seph, watching the drama unfold, simply sighed.

"Finally, some honesty." He muttered under his breath.

Thor, still looking lost and overwhelmed, turned to Loki once more. "Brother…"

Loki met his gaze.

"We are not brothers by blood, Thor."

Thor winced.

But before he could respond, Loki continued, "Yet, I have always been by your side. That has not changed. And it never will."

Thor swallowed hard. He had never felt so small.

Odin felt the weight of centuries-old guilt begin to loosen its grip on his chest and let out a slow breath.

Then, slowly, he turned his gaze to Thor.

Thor, who had remained silent all this time, was still frozen in place. His fists were clenched at his sides, his mind a battlefield of emotions he could not name.

He had grown up believing Loki was his brother. His equal.

And now? Now, his brother was revealed to be something else entirely. A son of his enemies. A prince of a land he had been raised to hate.

And the worst part?

Loki was fine with it.

Thor did not know if he felt betrayed, angry, or simply lost.

Odin whispered softly. "Now, it's your turn... I hope you too can understand the weight of your responsibility soon."

Seph, watching the broken prince struggle with his thoughts, let out a quiet sigh.

"How fragile emotions can be," He murmured.

And so, the great palace of Asgard stood in stunned silence, as the truth of Loki's past echoed through its golden halls—forever changing the fate of the realm.
