"The garden is really pretty," Angel said, as she walked through the garden the next morning in the company of Lewis and his mother.
"It is. With a little bit of rain, it would shine even brighter," Catherine said, a light appearing in her eyes.
Angel noticed it, and smiled. "So you love gardening?"
"She does," Lewis chipped in before his mother could water down something she actually loved.
Catherine laughed. "He's exaggerating."
"I don't think so. Anyway, I was asking because I think there's a place you can put your skills to good use. I'll be discharged soon, and I wouldn't mind Lewis coming along so he can heal better. And for you to remain in the states, I gather you'll need a job?"
The smile on Catherine's face disappeared, as a tense silence suddenly seized the atmosphere.
Angel knew it was going to be a difficult conversation to have even from the start. Yet, she knew it was one she must have.
