After the king's murder, the council of elders were summoned and informed about the unfortunate event; they sat across the throne room, with Kaels mother occupying her seat on the right side of the empty throne.
Kain, as the first son, sat on the left, and Kael stood in their midst, his gaze fixed on the floor in shame.
They first instructed him to narrate the incident that led to the king's death, and he did so without leaving any details behind. He pleaded guilty and told them that he was ready for whatever punishment they'd give to him.
He also told them that if they wished to pardon him, he would flee from the realm and stay among the humans, never to be seen again. Deep down he was prepared for the worse because he knew they wouldn't hesitate to do the worse.
"We have heard you," said the first elder, shifting his gaze from Kael to his mother.
"And we have never had such a case once, where a son kills his father, especially not amongst the royals."
