Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

Two days later

In the center of Manhattan stands a building between 90 and 100 floors tall. At its top is a red-and-white umbrella-shaped sign, while above the entrance, there is a sign that reads: "Umbrella".

At the very top of the building is a luxurious penthouse, decorated with style and opulence.

Morgana was standing in front of a huge window, watching the busy street below her. Cars were moving back and forth, while some pedestrians were photographing the new building that had appeared just a day ago. Others were rushing to work, meetings...

The door to the room opened and Sofia entered. She approached Morgana, who still hadn't taken her eyes off the crowd of people below.

"They're talking on all social media that the building was built by mutants who…"

"Shh, no need to tell me more," Morgana interrupted her, pointing to a nearby building with a large screen displaying the news. It showed a reporter broadcasting live.

"I'm not so blind as not to see what's happening."

"Besides, anyone would be suspicious when a 100-story building rises overnight that was supposed to take 2 to 3 months to build."

"But if we continue like this, no one will want to work here, especially since people still have a strong aversion to mutants," said Sofia, stating the facts.

"Dear Sofia, I thought you already knew what human hearts are like," Morgana said disappointedly, leaving Sofia confused, unaware of what she had said wrong.

Morgana noticed her confusion and simply said:

"It's enough to raise the salaries, and they'll apply themselves."

"But... won't we be at a loss? After all, we need to pay so many people. We'll need an astronomical amount of money, according to your plan," Sofia asked, not understanding why Morgana would take such a risk.

"Sometimes I wonder... did the serum give you strength but take away your intelligence?" Morgana asked, staring straight at her forehead.

"Hey!!"

"You know I have enough money to buy the entire world." Morgana completely ignored Sofia's offense. Sofia slowly calmed down, realizing that in front of her wasn't just an ordinary nineteen-year-old girl, but someone already being called a genius greater even than Tony Stark.

"But even if we raise the salaries 2–3 times above average, the government will interfere in our business because of the high wages. So why are we doing all this when we get nothing in return?" Sofia asked suspiciously.

"If you had asked me that before I took the serum, I wouldn't have cared much. Even if they say mutants built the building…" Morgana looked at Sofia and continued. "But now... now I will do everything in my power to slowly take over the whole world, even if I gain nothing from it, even if everyone turns against me."

Sofia was shocked by Morgana's words and her immense ambitions. Morgana was still looking down at the crowd, with fire in her eyes. With a gentle wave of her hand through the air, it seemed as if she held the entire planet in her palms.

"If you're wondering why... I simply don't want Earth to fall into the hands of greedy and stupid people," Morgana said quietly and coldly.

Sofia slowly gathered herself. Even though the reason she heard was simple, she felt that something else was hidden behind it, something deeper, darker.

The room fell silent. The only sounds were their breathing and the ticking of the clock on the wall.

"What should I do first?" Sofia asked.

"Do as I told you. As for the government and others, don't worry. I'll... have a little talk with them," Morgana answered, looking her straight in the eyes.

"Alright," Sofia nodded and quietly left the room, leaving Morgana alone.

Some time later

Morgana exited and entered the elevator at the end of the hallway. She pressed the buttons until the elevator began to descend.

When the elevator doors opened, she stepped into a huge space filled with laboratory and mechanical tools that didn't belong to this time. Using molecular manipulation, Morgana had created this space and all the tools in it for her personal use, a top-tier laboratory accessible only to her and Sofia.

Time passed. Night soon fell. The city was lit by streetlights, creating the nighttime beauty of the metropolis.

Morgana was lying on the sofa, flipping through TV channels displayed as a hologram. In one hand she held a glass of red wine, slowly sipping it. Bored, she kept changing channels until she came across a news report that caught her attention.

On the screen, a grotesque-looking monster was shown destroying a street.

Morgana jumped from the sofa, shouting excitedly, "Sofia!!!"

A shadow immediately shifted beside her, from which Sofia appeared, still dressed in her professional outfit despite the late hour.

"I need transport to Harlem. Now," Morgana said firmly, watching the rampaging monster with interest.

Sofia's lips twitched when she saw that Morgana was once again using her like a summonable service, but she didn't complain. She just wrapped herself and Morgana in shadow, and both disappeared from the room.

At that time in Harlem, a monstrosity like the Abomination was destroying the street in all directions, while people fled as far as they could. However, not everyone was that lucky, some were caught in its destruction. From a distance, military convoys were approaching.

At the same time, on top of a building, Morgana and Sofia appeared quietly, without disturbing anyone with their arrival, they just watched as the Abomination fought, no, how it destroyed the soldiers who were trying to kill it. However, whatever they did, they couldn't do anything to it. The creature just slowly and bloodthirstily smiled, took a car in which a woman and a child were trapped, with no time to escape, and threw it toward the soldiers.

"Sofia."

Sofia knew what Morgana wanted. She simply vanished and appeared in the car, quickly using shadow to take the woman and child and disappear from the vehicle, which now collided with a military vehicle and exploded.

Morgana just watched without moving, as if it wasn't her concern. Soon, Sofia appeared next to her.

"All done?"

"Everyone who was left, I moved two streets away," Sofia answered Morgana's question, while Morgana softly whistled and said, "Unbelievable, in just 20 seconds. Looks like you're improving quickly."

Sofia proudly straightened up because of Morgana's praise. Morgana looked toward the sky and saw a military helicopter approaching, and simply smiled with contempt.

"Who would've expected you to create this abomination, General Ross."

"Looks like I underestimated your ambition." She looked at the Abomination as it destroyed the army.

"Aren't we going to save them?" Sofia asked.

"His army, his problem. Let him deal with it," Morgana replied while looking at the Abomination with contempt.

"Just when I thought it would be fun... but who would've thought he'd be just a common failure," Morgana said with disdain, while Sofia remained silent, watching the destruction before her.

Maybe because of his sharp instincts, or something else, the Abomination suddenly turned toward the place where Morgana and Sofia were standing. With a cold and murderous gaze, he stared at them while maniacally smiling. He grabbed two nearby cars and forcefully threw them in their direction, then turned toward the military convoy that had just arrived and began destroying it, no longer paying attention to the two individuals, thinking they were dead.

Morgana calmly watched as the cars approached at great speed. She simply waved her hand, and the vehicles turned to dust before they could reach them. Coldly, she looked toward the Abomination, then turned to the helicopter that was getting closer and closer. She stared at it with curiosity, feeling a powerful rage coming from inside, so strong it created an almost invisible aura around the helicopter. Still, that wasn't something just anyone could notice.

Morgana inwardly praised the person who could hold that much anger without going insane. The helicopter doors opened, and a person in ordinary clothing stepped out. Morgana immediately noticed they were speaking with General Ross and his daughter Betty.

Suddenly, an unexpected scene occurred. Sofia had a shocked expression on her face and was staring in disbelief at what was happening, while Morgana observed everything with interest. The person in ordinary clothing jumped out of the helicopter, which was still in the air, and landed directly on the ground, creating a powerful impact and a cloud of dust.

"This..." Sofia stammered, not knowing what to say, but Morgana had a different opinion.

"Don't be too shocked, Sofia," she said mysteriously, while Sofia slightly tilted her head.

Suddenly, a green hand rose from the cloud of dust. When the dust settled, the man who had jumped from the helicopter was no longer there. In his place stood a green titan, two to three meters tall, who slowly straightened up and roared toward the Abomination, as if announcing his presence.

Morgana then turned toward the distant night sky, and the shocked Sofia followed her. There, they saw a red-and-gold figure flying rapidly toward them.

Iron Man hovered between Hulk and the Abomination, arrogantly announcing his presence, while Morgana just shook her head at his stupidity.

"Dude, looks like you've gotten even more arrogant since you became Iron Man," Morgana muttered, then saw Tony turn toward her to say something, but he was hit by a flying car thrown by the Abomination.

Morgana walked to the edge of the building and looked down where Tony had crashed beneath them.

"Dude, looks like you've gotten a bit arrogant," Morgana smirked as she watched Tony hover in front of her again.

Tony wanted to say something, but when he saw Morgana pointing behind him, he turned and saw another car flying toward him, this time faster.

"Shit." He activated lasers from his hands, cut the car in half, then turned toward Morgana, who watched everything happening with boredom.

"Looks like you added some details, dude." Morgana clapped her hands. Tony had a proud look, which immediately collapsed when he heard what Morgana continued: "…however, if you want to fight them, I hope your armor can withstand about 70–80 tons of pure force."

"What?!" Tony looked somewhat shocked as the two monsters fought, destroying everything around them.

"Boss, more precisely it's about 90–100 tons of force," Jarvis reported, confirming what Morgana said.

"Damn it," Tony cursed, but he didn't feel fear, just carefully followed the fight.

"What are you doing here, Morgana?" Tony didn't forget to ask her.

"Nothing special, I originally planned to fight them, but when I found out those two monsters are General Ross's, I didn't want to clean up his problems," Morgana explained the reason for her arrival.

"General Ross," Tony muttered, but soon stopped paying attention and asked Jarvis if there were more people near the street.

"You don't have to worry about civilians, they're far from the fight, except some curious ones who obviously have a death wish," Morgana said when she saw Tony worrying about helpless people.

She turned to Sofia and asked, "Sofia, do you want to test your strength on those two sacks?" pointing toward Hulk and the Abomination who were constantly fighting.

Sofia nodded and slowly disappeared into the shadow, while Tony asked, "Are you sure she can withstand those two monsters?"

"Meh, don't worry about her, better worry that some stray car doesn't hit you again," Morgana sneered at Tony, who could only twitch his lips, knowing he was powerless against those two monsters.
