Mmm, what is this flavor? It tastes so exotic!
I don't even feel hungry anymore, but I just want to chew on this more…
"Hey! Wake up already you gluttonous lass–open your eyes!"
Hmm? That voice sounds a little familiar…
Obeying his command, Aisha opens her eyes, finding herself chewing on a psychedelic toga, much to the wearer's dismay. She spits the cloth out of her mouth and rises on her feet.
"Oh, it's you, the god who is responsible for putting my sister into a coma. How have you been? You don't look too well."
"First of all, the name is Esperaunce, the god of dreams. Secondly, you got your disgusting saliva on my beautiful toga! I've been trying to get you out of your dream state when I summoned you here. Clearly my efforts were in vain!"
"My sincere apologies, Esperaunce. Please forgive a silly mortal like me!"
Aisha puts her hands together in a prayer formation, and licks her teeth. A shiver ripples through Esperaunce, he visibly vibrates a bit.
"I can tell that you don't mean it, lass. Sigh, what am I going to do with you mortals?"
"Well, how about waking my sister up and allowing us into the oasis? After all, we made a deal."
"Right right, we have to discuss what really matters! Aisha, do you realize what just happened to you?"
"Let me see…before I saw you, I was…! Ah, I faintly remember now."
"What did you think of your dream?"
"My dream? My feelings were different in the heat of the moment than they are now upon retrospect. Frankly, most of it was like reliving my past, so those parts were dull…but…"
"But?"
Esperance looks at Aisha from his throne with enlarged pupils, eagerly anticipating her answer.
"That was one of the best experiences I've ever had. More specifically, the part when I met Vex and became a giant. I got to taste so many sweet treats. Best of all, I finally got to taste Vex after he so kindly offered himself! He tasted much better than the real-life version of him covered in slime that I've swallowed."
Esperance drops his head down like a deflated balloon. While Aisha's face is full of bliss, he looks at her mortified.
"You do realize that those 'sweet treats' weren't actually sweets, right?"
"What else could they have been? I saw it with my own eyes, you know."
"Didn't you notice that all the townspeople went missing moments after you became a giantess?"
She puts her hand on her chin and taps her foot.
"Now that you mention it, I wonder where everyone went. Especially at the end–there was no one else there besides Vex and me."
"Oh come on lass, are you dense? You ate everyone! Those 'treats' were actually people, which included your own family!"
In response to the god's growing frustration, Aisha tilts her head innocently as a child.
"What's the difference?"
"WHAAT?!"
"Hahaha, just kidding! Though to my body, they really were delicious snacks. I guess I was seeing the world through the eyes of my stomach."
"That's it? No lesson learned, no takeaway, nothing?"
"Was there something you expected me to learn? Who on earth would use their dreams as a means to learn life lessons?"
"How dare you utter those words you…actually, that's not a completely unreasonable point coming from you. But in this case, I allowed you to experience this dream, so there is a reason for it."
"The reason being so that you would be entertained by stalking our dreams?"
"I don't like the negative implications of that statement, but being a source of my entertainment is only a small part of it. Tell me, what part was the moment when your dream was no longer accurate to your memory of the real event?"
"...If I recall, everything was as I remembered until the moment I found that relic. That corpse's eyeball…I managed to ignore it in my real past but for some reason in this dream I…"
Her words trail off her tongue, converting into a moist lip licking.
"...Let my thoughts get the best of me. From that point on, my newfound craving just intensified until I…well, you know the rest."
"Where did those thoughts of yours come from? Have you always had that craving for human flesh?"
"Goodness no…though admittedly curiosity has crossed my mind sporadically. Can you blame me? My curse altered my appetite and cravings to be extremely different from the average person."
"So these thoughts have crossed your mind before, huh. Tch, I know exactly who's responsible for this…that brat!"
Esperaunce bites his nail as he grumbles to himself.
"Who?"
"Never mind that. Have you ever acted upon these thoughts before?"
"No, at least not yet…"
Though I have come so close with Vex!
"Now do you understand how dire your situation is? If you actually cave in to your temptation, there's no telling just how far you will go."
Aisha's grin fades away, her face becomes darkened.
"I'm not an imbecile as you seem to be under such an impression of me. All of my life, I've had to resist certain cravings that come to my mind. This curse prevents me from eating what I truly want to taste, yet I am expected to restrain myself. What gives anyone the right to judge me or try to preach to me like some moral authority? Am I not just doing what comes natural to me, just as everyone else does due to their curses? No, it's actually the opposite–I am fighting against my nature. When I stopped caring about how other people thought of my unorthodox diet, I never felt so free! So free, yet still bond in a larger cage. I realize that this is a necessary binding–the binding of morality. Without that…"
She smacks her lips; a sinister look spreads on her face. To call it a human expression would be inaccurate.
"I would truly become the monster my peers thought I was!"
"..."
Deafening silence fills the dream palace. The god sits completely still, flabbergasted.
"Wow…that took an unexpected turn. I thought that you would end up learning something from your dream, but it is I, the immortal god, who has learned from this. I never knew you mortals could have it so rough like that. There's nothing I can do about it since that's outside of my authority, but you have my condolences."
"Hehe, well aren't you sympathetic. I'm fine, this is my life, and I have fully embraced it!"
"Aisha, you have passed. It wasn't exactly as I planned, but I'll pass you nevertheless. See you soon."
"Not so soon! What about my sister–"
SNAP
Esperaunce forcefully snaps his fingers, preventing Aisha from drawing nearer to him. She instantly despawns.
"Twinkles, you really are twisted my dear friend."
