Chapter 317 - Battle

"You want to enter the village? No problem... beat me!"

The middle-aged man shouted in a seemingly arrogant and cocky voice.

At some point, there were already a lot of villagers gathered here. The way they looked at Rope and the others was not considered friendly, but there was no hostility either.

They knew about the previous message released by the village chief, but they also knew, as the middle-aged man shouted, that as long as they could beat the strongest person in their village, then they would receive the courtesy of the village.

Because that was the rule in the jungle.

Rope looked at the middle aged man in front of him and nodded. He could easily guess why this man was here...

"Good, since this is your rule, then I will naturally accept it."

Rope wasn't ambiguous, just like in the village before, and he certainly didn't have a problem with it as long as there was a way to get into the village without going into conflict.

It was just a fight. He hadn't fought anyone in a couple days either.

It was just as well to take this opportunity to show Gengar up.

Rope scanned around for a moment, then spoke up and asked, "Is this the place?"

There were still a lot of people in the neighborhood, and it was possible that it wasn't very castable.

After all, Rope couldn't feel the strength of this middle-aged man right now.

"Just here. Let everyone in the village be a witness."

The middle-aged man said very blandly. The bashfulness at this moment could actually be equated with arrogance if one really had to say so.

Rope shook his head, expressing helplessness at this small tactic of the middle-aged man. Is this kind of words like provoking himself? I really don't know if I should call the villagers simple.

Rope removed the Pokéball from his own belt and tossed it.

"Come out, Gengar!"

With a flash of white light, a small purple fatty just appeared in the middle of the battle field in front of Rope.

Sangato on the opposite side of the field looked at the little purple fatty that was sitting on the field in a comical stretch, and the corner of his mouth curled up into a sneer. But his eyes were so grave that they couldn't be any more grave.

He had also ventured out into the world when he was young. That was why he became the strongest person in the entire village. Although in the outside world his strength wasn't considered too outstanding, it could only be considered medium to high. But in this village it would just be strong.

He had always felt very sorry for the kids in the village who had no intention of going out and exercising at all.

Aohane's talent was so much better than his. If Aohane could really get out of the forest and see the outside world. Maybe he would have been a genius as well!

Unfortunately, this world was the same...there were no ifs.

Sangato recognized the aura of the Gengar in front of him. The light purple phantom wind that surrounded its body was a symbol of strength in itself. Moreover, it seemed that this Gengar had just evolved and was not yet able to fully control its energy. But for a newly evolved Gengar to have such strength...

The one in front of him...is probably the so-called genius he heard about when he was traveling outside the forest…

"My name is Sangato. I used to travel in the Sinnoh region and also finished in the top 64 at the Lily of the Valley Conference!"

Uncle Sangato had a steely gaze and a sense of pride.

"Come out, Drapion!"

A big purple scorpion just appeared in front of the crowd. Drapion scanned the surrounding with his sharp eyes before waving his big pincers in a show of force.

Rope also nodded as he looked at the other party's strong Drapion. It did look like the other party's Drapion had been bred quite well. It was really good to have a top 64 back then.

"Rope, from Pallet Town. the Indigo Plateau Conference Champion."

Compared to Sangato's self-introduction earlier, this self-introduction of Rope's could be said to be concise and clear. It was mainly just a small number of words.

But it's those short dozen words that tell the story of Rope's origins and accomplishments. Of course it was only the simplest achievements in the field of sparring. If you really want to talk about his accomplishments there's also fucking with Peak Red.

All without winning. No one would underestimate this man if he had the guts to fight Red.

Sangato was naturally shocked. The people in the village might not have understood such words. But he, who had traveled in the outside world, naturally knew how much a champion meant.

Especially when that champion was from a place called Pallet Town. Other towns might use the phrase 'XX region, XX town/city', but Pallet Town was Pallet Town, the one and only Pallet Town in the world.

Since it's a big man from Pallet Town, it's an existence that Sangato has to look up to!

Sangato looked at this young man and gulped, feeling for a moment that he was still too high on himself. Didn't the one who reported the news say that the one who came was very strong but claimed to be a researcher?

A researcher in Pallet Town...was that much different from a trainer?

He had heard of the legend of Professor Oak! It wasn't even Professor Oak back then, it was Champion Oak back then.

Although his mouth was bitter, he also knew that he could only tough it out now.

"Drapion! Pin Missile!"

Seeing that Sangato was also going straight for it without saying hello, Rope wasn't going to be polite with him either.

"Gengar! Shadow Ball!"

Gengar laughed, and then directly in front of his chest, a Shadow Ball was formed, and then the Shadow Ball continued to expand, Drapion's Pin Missile hit the Shadow Ball, but the Shadow Ball just moved, but there was no intention of breaking, and it even continued to expand.

Drapion didn't even care about the humiliation of his moves not doing any damage. Just kidding...just this Shadow Ball in front of him...hitting it was going to take a scorpion's life!

He glanced at his master with some anxiety. It wasn't that he was timid. Rather, once this Shadow Ball really exploded, it wouldn't just be him, Drapion, who would be injured. He wouldn't be surprised if the energy fallout from the explosion destroyed half of the village here.

Not to mention Drapion. Now Sangato is also numb...no...what is this for! Aren't we all cutting a deal? You're just going to turn our house upside down!

Sangato could see it, and so could Aohane. He could even feel Bisharp behind him trembling.

He gulped and opened his mouth, but didn't know what to say.

The remaining villagers who had gathered around did not know what kind of power the Shadow Ball, which was already the size of a wheel, had. But they still instinctively felt bad when that ghostly cold and violent ghost system energy skimmed over their bodies.

It was like having a crazy evil ghost choking you.

It's not like living in the sunny side of the world at all...

Even Rope was a bit shocked. He truly hadn't expected Gengar's mastery of Ghost-based energies to actually reach this point. This Shadow Ball wasn't as simple as it looked, but it wasn't like a wheel-sized Shadow Ball was anything too rare. If you let the energy expand, a Shadow Ball the size of a wheel would just be a joke.

But the one in front of Gengar... was a compressed Shadow Ball.

Why did it move when it was hit by the Pin Missile? Because at that time, the Ghost System energy was already close to a semi-solid state.

And now...that's solid.

Rope was also staggered. Gengar's strength after evolving was even a little stronger than he thought...it was really exaggerated...

"Gengar take one..."

Rope could only order, he was here to investigate, not really to kill.

Gengar cocked his head, then waved his little short hand. Then the Shadow Ball that had coalesced into a solid mass just dissolved into a mass of ghostly winds that drifted away.

With the roar of the ghosts ringing in his ears, the fear in Drapion's heart simply went up a notch... that powerful energy... could it just be dissipated? Sometimes it wasn't the Pokémon that was leading to the moves. In his opinion, the Shadow Ball just now had no chance to obey him...

It turned out that it really did fall apart.

"Drapion! Knock Off!"

Seeing that Rope had no intention of ending the fight immediately, Sangato also gave the order to fight again. He couldn't admit defeat right now...whether it was the village chief's instructions or the rakish look on Rope's face.

He knew that if he couldn't play with Rope to the fullest right now. Then Rope's favor with himself would fall off wildly. Normally it wouldn't matter. But such a strong person had entered the village. It would be rude not to offer him up.

Now he wants to fight you to try out his sword. And you're still pushing back...

Strength is such an unreasonable thing.

Rope wasn't a bad guy, mainly because he didn't really have any enemies around him that could put pressure on Gengar.

After all, battles within the ranks were all about harmony in the end. Cutting is not the same as fighting.

It was only in the middle of a battle that a Pokémon's true strength could be seen.

Though Rope didn't find this kind of low-intensity battle useful either is all.

A large hand condensed with black energy slapped towards Gengar. It was Drapion's Knock Off.

Gengar, on the other hand, smiled, then took half a step back, his body becoming more and more illusory and disappearing completely in an instant.

The Knock Off landed on empty space, and Gengar disappeared.

Whitley and Diana both searched the battlefield in confusion, Diana was confused for a moment, but she wasn't too surprised, Rope's Gengar, he wouldn't be surprised if he did something strange.

Rope's Gengar, he wouldn't be surprised if he did anything strange. But Whitley was different, Whitley had seen a real top Ghost trainer. After all, the best Gengar cultivation is Granny Agatha, Granny Agatha Rope as his own grandchildren to treat, Whitley as Rope's disciple, can also be said to sister, naturally, is also very Granny Agatha favorite. It's mainly because of her love and Whitley's good personality that she is favored by Granny Agatha.

The old people love this cute, obedient and smart little girl.

So Granny Agatha has no intention of hiding anything when it comes to Pokémon breeding. Told Whitley some of his breeding ideas.

So Whitley's basic breeding ideas for Gengar were also clear. It was logical that Rope should have learned Granny Agatha's approach as well. Relying more on giving negative status to the opposing Seiya.Will-O-Wisp, Hypnosis, Sludge Bomb, Farmer's Three Punches, plus the other Perish Song, Mean Look, Confuse Ray, Destiny Bond, Dream Eater...

All of these skills come together, and that's how Granny Agatha breeds Gengar.Very few people in League want to fight Granny Agatha...it's too much torture. Often times you haven't even touched Gengar yet, and you're already on the verge of immobilizing yourself with the negative statuses on your body.

But Rope has a decidedly different kind of nurturing.

Hoopa, on the other hand, looked at that Gengar standing between the gap between the Main World and the Spirit World and let out a sigh of admiration, this little guy was even more gifted than he thought, it was hard to imagine that a Ghost-type Pokémon would actually have such an understanding and talent for spatial abilities. One could only say that it wasn't even easy!

However, Hoopa didn't say anything, after all, he himself was a Ghost Pokémon who was good at spatial abilities, and Gengar's current level was still a bit rough in his opinion.

Gengar's current level was still a bit rough in his opinion. Of course, besides Arceus, there was probably no other Pokémon in the world who was better than Hoopa in the use of spatial dexterity.

Neither could the God of Space...as outrageous as that sounded, that was just the way it was.

Rope hadn't really expected Gengar to surprise him like that. After all, although Gengar had previously displayed a remarkable spatial talent and spatial ability. But in the end, he was still a little bit short.

But now it's as if a layer of windowpaper has been poked through, and Gengar's use of space is as good as it gets. It could be said to be a huge enhancement.

Their side was pleasantly surprised by Gengar's performance. But Drapion on the opposite side of the battlefield could be surprised.

He had always traveled with Sangato but Sangato's strength back then was just like that, not too strong. But the Gengar in front of him was so strong that it made him despair.

"Drapion, be careful and alert!"

Sangato shouted loudly.

Drapion's spirit was tense, and he carefully stared at his surroundings.

In the middle of the crevice between the Spirit World and the Main World, Gengar stuck to the image in front of him that looked a bit like a black and white movie, and a wide smile appeared on his face. The Spirit World was dangerous, and the Main World was just as dangerous. And the gap between them was more than just a crack.

Gengar had a teasing smile on his face as he surrounded the somewhat startled Drapion. Making a face at Drapion, and his uncle trainer, Gengar turned his head again, and saw Rope and Hoopa, who were staring intently at him, and then the corners of his mouth twitched slightly.

He had hidden himself in the cracks of the world, and these two guys could still see him...

Shaking his head helplessly, he lamented that he was still too weak. Then Gengar's hand was wrapped in spectral energy. A claw blade just appeared.

Half a world away, Gengar gently touched Drapion's head. It left three bloody marks.

Drapion attended with a cry of surprise and clarity.

He knew that this was Gengar not wanting to kill himself. Otherwise, he would have lost himself just now...

Seeing that Rope would finally show a satisfied smile. Sangato was also relieved.

"I admit...I admit defeat."
