Chapter 46 - Chapter 46 - Sea Fishing

Early morning at the dock.

Carrying a few fishing rods while William carried a couple tackle boxes among other items. Felix looked upon the boat before them with a man of similar age to William. The boat wasn't too small, but it wasn't large either. It was probably a bit bigger than the Orca was when facing off against the large Great White Shark.

"Felix, meet my friend, Clark." William introduced the man before whispering to him. "Also his last name isn't Kent, so no flying tights. Don't make a joke about it either, since he has probably heard all the jokes by now."

Felix rolled his eyes at that, but didn't comment.

"Will, you're finally here. Did you bring the stuff?"

A man with black hair that had a few tints of gray appearing spoke loudly with a laugh. He had a bit of a stomach on him while he stood straight. Clearly he held a job where he needed to present himself and after doing it so long, it clearly became a subconscious style of standing.

"Got them right here. I even picked your favorite sub sandwich." William smiled.

"Perfect. Anna has been complaining that I eat too much lately." The man roared with laughter as he patted his stomach.

"How is she anyways?" William asked.

"Who is Anna?" Felix whispered.

"Clark's wife. They met in college and have been bound to each other since." William answered in a whisper.

"Probably still sleeping. She didn't feel like coming since she says it's a guy trip out or something along those lines." Clark answered with a small shrug. "It's probably more to do with Alexander saying he didn't want to come, since she likes sailing the sea."

"Alex is his son and a few years older than you." William told Felix before he could ask.

Hopping onto the boat, Felix placed their fishing rods down and looked out towards the sea. He wondered what they would catch, before he took out a small Amulet of the Sea. It was just a small trinket he made before leaving Hogwarts to improve their luck at fishing.

Placing it on a rod holder, so it can dangle. Felix just found a spot to sit while his father and Clark moved about the boat doing a double check. It wouldn't do to get out to sea and find out they forgot something.

Nearly twenty minutes later, the boat was started and the dock began to fade away.

--

"What do you do, Mr. Clark?"

"I'm a lawyer." Clark replied. "While it pays big money, it is also very stressful."

Felix just nodded as he understood now why the man stood like he was presenting himself. It was an occupational hazard one could say. Now he just hopes he won't start a debate with him, since he probably just end up losing.

"So I hear you're a monstrous prodigy." Clark asks.

"A prodigy? I wouldn't go that far." Felix answered.

"Well, the way Will talks about you, you're some kind of legendary scholar in the making."

"Which normal father doesn't wish for their children to be such a thing?"

"Point taken." Clark laughed.

--

After sailing the sea for a couple hours and the sun now in the sky. Felix was finishing setting up his rod while William and Clark were complaining about small issues at work. From patients or clients roaring at them for not knowing the entire issue within five words of explanation or reading their minds.

The two really seem more interested in letting loose than fishing. Which didn't bother him all that much, but he felt like a third wheel. He couldn't actually say much since most of his trouble involved magic and even William who in the loop didn't fully understand it.

So after finishing, he tossed his line out and decided to wait.

He didn't actually care that much about what he caught so he didn't really set his line for a certain depth. It was more of the feeling if he caught something he did, if not oh well.

Barely five minutes later, his hook was taken, so grabbing his pole, Felix felt like he was hooked by a giant beast. He really hoped he didn't because he didn't know if he could reel one in or if he was unlucky and hooked a magical creature. It would suck since it is unknown if this boat will survive an encounter with one as even the calmest magical creature is a force to reckon with if angered.

"Woah," Felix was pulled forward.

Trying hard to not be pulled into the water, while also keeping his line from breaking. Felix pulled and relaxed the line as a tug war between him and the fish was taking place. The first one to tire out will lose.

"Aren't you a lucky one?" Clark said in surprise.

He alongside William rushed forward to grab Felix.

"I would prefer it if the lucky one didn't go swimming with the fishes." William added.

Gritting his teeth as the battle between them continued, Felix felt this was kind of fun. That fun however didn't last long as the battle continued for nearly an hour. Finally, as they pulled it up, a large swordfish flopped onto the boat and tired out surprising them all.

"A swordfish?" Clark said.

"It looks like one." William nodded.

"What do we do with it?" Felix asked.

"Sell?" Clark suggested.

"Probably the best option." William nodded.

"Is this the end of the fishing trip?" Felix asked, wondering a bit.

"Nah, we will just sell it then go out again. It is a rare chance to get away from the world for a few days." Clark shook his head.

"Isn't that a waste of gas?" Felix asked.

"Meh, don't worry about it. I end up wasting more money having it by sitting at the boat docks than running it for a while." Clark waved his hand unconcerned.

Felix nodded lightly to that.

--

After selling the swordfish for a good price, Felix spent the next few days on the sea with William and Clark. They caught a wide variety of fish, some smaller while bigger like the swordfish.

The most exciting part was when Clark's fish was almost to the boat and a shark came along and ate it.

Clark was sad at the time but quickly recovered. It wasn't everyday that happened so he just laughed and couldn't wait to brag to his wife about it.

Finally, the fishing trip came to an end and William and Felix returned home.

"Oh, I got mail." Felix said, opening the door.

On the ground were a pair of letters from Angel and John. Both inviting him over for a few days in the coming weeks.

"Oh, John's brother is getting married."
