With a puff of black smoke rising, Whis slowly walked out from within.
His once-gorgeous robes were now tattered, and even his light-blue skin had turned ashen-gray.
"As expected of Whis. Even after taking on such a high-density destructive energy attack, he's completely unharmed!"
Seeing Whis in this state, Katakana couldn't help but laugh.
Although his attack didn't cause any real damage to Whis, it had already accomplished his goal.
And he had to admit, Vermoud's technique was indeed useful.
"Mr. Katakana, I didn't expect your control over the power of destruction to be at this level. I truly underestimated you!" Whis took out a handkerchief and began wiping the dust off his face, visibly surprised.
"I'd say you're not far behind a true God of Destruction at this point."
"So let me ask you, Mr. Katakana, are you interested in becoming a God of Destruction?"
Whis looked at him seriously, testing the waters.
Even putting Katakana's raw strength aside, his grasp of destructive power alone had reached an impressive level.
Sure, he might still fall short of a full-fledged God of Destruction, but that gap was rapidly shrinking.
And considering Katakana hadn't had any formal Angel guidance yet, Whis believed that if he began training him properly, Katakana could quickly surpass several existing Gods of Destruction.
"Not interested"
Katakana rejected Whis' proposal outright.
Yes, the God of Destruction was a top-tier role in the universe, with lifespans of tens of thousands of years or more.
But that didn't appeal to Su Han at all.
More importantly, a God of Destruction's life was tied to the life of the Supreme Kai.
In other words, if the Supreme Kai died, the God of Destruction would die too.
And Su Han knew all too well the level of Universe 7's Supreme Kai, he would never accept that kind of vulnerability.
"Uh… but the God of Destruction is the most supreme being in a universe! You control the law of destruction and can erase planets you don't like at will."
"Mr. Katakana, won't you reconsider?"
Whis looked surprised by the rejection but quickly recovered.
He then began listing all the benefits of becoming a God of Destruction.
"Still no! I have absolutely no interest in being a God of Destruction."
Katakana replied firmly, leaving no room for negotiation.
Tying his life to Supreme Kai Shin? Absolutely not.
"Well then… Mr. Katakana, have you ever considered the position of an Angel?"
"If you're willing, it's not impossible…"
Whis pressed further.
If Katakana wasn't interested in being a God of Destruction, perhaps he'd consider becoming an Angel.
After all, Katakana had already mastered Perfect Ultra Instinct and some advanced Angel techniques.
If the Grand Priest approved, he could very well become a trainee Angel.
"Hmm… I'll think about it, if you agree to teach me the erasure technique!" Katakana smiled lightly, seeing Whis' eager expression.
Of course, Katakana had no intention of becoming an Angel either.
Sure, unlike Gods of Destruction, Angels weren't bound to a Supreme Kai's life.
But they were essentially glorified babysitters, always stuck at the side of a God of Destruction.
That life? No thanks.
He only said that to steer Whis away from this topic, he truly had no interest in either role.
But what Whis said next completely stunned Su Han.
"Mr. Katakana, if you truly want to learn the erasure technique… it's not impossible."
"However, I cannot teach you that ability myself. If you really wish to learn it, I can take you to meet the Grand Priest."
"If the Grand Priest agrees to accept you as a trainee Angel, I believe he'll grant your request."
Whis looked at Katakana seriously.
From his expression, it was clear he wasn't joking.
"Meeting the Grand Priest…"
Hearing that, Katakana hesitated.
As much as he wanted to learn Angelic techniques, if it meant meeting the Grand Priest, he felt the matter needed careful thought.
The Grand Priest was no ordinary being.
Even in all the fan stories Katakana had seen, no one could clearly define the Grand Priest's power, some even believed he surpassed Zeno.
So naturally, Katakana was cautious.
Though the Grand Priest often smiled, no one could truly read his character.
"Mr. Katakana, you don't need to be too nervous. The Grand Priest has already heard of you and seems quite interested!"
"So it's possible he might even grant you powers beyond what you asked for."
Seeing Katakana hesitate, Whis quickly reassured him.
"Hiss…"
Katakana sucked in a breath. He hadn't expected the Grand Priest to already have his eye on him.
Either way, it looked like running wasn't an option anymore.
Whether he wanted to meet the Grand Priest or not, it would probably happen.
So, Katakana sighed in resignation.
It seemed there was no escaping this.
If that's the case, he might as well go. Better to get it over with.
"Alright, Mr. Whis. In that case… let's do it your way!"
Katakana nodded slightly.
Now that the Grand Priest had already taken interest, and Whis hadn't even invited him out of the blue…
Refusing again would only make things awkward.
Might as well agree.
