Kieran's POV
My blood burned like fire in my veins. The curse I had fought for years was finally taking over, but this time was different. As I watched Sienna and Zeke disappear into the dark portal, something inside me snapped.
My body should have been changing, losing control to the blood rage like always. Instead, I felt a strange calm wash over me. The rage was still there, building with every heartbeat, but I could direct it. Control it.
"Kieran!" Caius shouted, his vampire speed bringing him to my side in an instant. "Your eyes!"
I didn't need a mirror to know what was happening. The burning feeling behind my eyes told me everything. They weren't turning the usual blood-red of my curse. They were glowing purple—the same purple as the old symbols on the ritual stones.
"I can feel it," I said, my voice deeper than normal. "But I'm not losing myself."
