Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Diary

In Tingen City of the Ruen Kingdom, inside the Blackthorn Security Company, Klein had just received his advance salary and bid farewell to Old Neil. As he returned to the reception hall, he heard Rozanne—the brown-haired woman he had just met—say in a light tone:

"The captain said to have you come again on Monday. Handle the miscellaneous matters at home first—this is something every new member must do."

"Okay, I understand. Thank you, Rozanne."

Klein, who had just joined the Nighthawks team, smiled and nodded, expressing his thanks.

He had originally planned to get up early tomorrow to go to Tingen University and resolve the work matter. But since Dunn had said so, he didn't need to exhaust himself and could sleep a bit longer before going leisurely.

Just as he was about to take off his hat and bid farewell, Klein suddenly remembered something. He looked around and lowered his voice:

"Rozanne, do you know what the starting point is for that complete sequence mastered by the church?"

This was something he had forgotten to ask Old Neil in the basement just now, and also something he had always wanted to ask when he met Dunn.

Rozanne widened her eyes and looked at Klein with surprise:

"Why are you asking about this, Klein? Do you want to become an Extraordinary? Become someone like the captain?"

Did I show it so obviously? Klein touched the corner of his mouth and answered somewhat embarrassedly:

"Just asking—I'm a bit curious. If it's inconvenient, then forget it."

Anyway, I already know the names of three sequence pathways. I can ask Hermes about the rest.

Rozanne blinked her light brown eyes, glanced at the young gentleman in front of her, and said quietly:

"This isn't a secret for the Nighthawks. Although you're only clerical staff, you have the authority to know about this matter.

Well, Klein, the complete sequence pathway belonging to our church is 'Sleepless.' Its Sequence 9 potion name is 'Sleepless'!"

"Sleepless?"

Klein nodded almost imperceptibly, seemingly remembering Dunn's strange appearance again.

"Just hearing the name, you should be able to guess that the so-called 'Sleepless' refers to people who don't need to sleep at night. Like the captain—he doesn't sleep at night and only needs three to four hours of rest during the day.

Huh, really enviable... no, I'm not envious at all! Sleep is the goddess's blessing, the most blissful thing!"

Rozanne continued, "Besides, 'Sleepless' don't need light to see through darkness. The deeper the night, the stronger they become—I mean strong in all aspects, including their strength, their inspiration, and their thinking.

However, although they can discover unknown dangers hidden in darkness, when encountering monsters that cannot be solved by normal methods, they still need to rely on demon-hunting bullets and other items. My father was once a 'Sleepless.'"

An ability that gets comprehensive enhancement buffs at night—feels much more useful than Audience.

Without waiting for Klein to ask further, Rozanne continued on her own:

"After that is Sequence 8 'Midnight Poet,' and further up is Sequence 7 'Nightmare.'"

Nightmare? Klein immediately thought of Dunn Smith guiding his dream. Was this the sequence the other party belonged to?

Honestly, Dunn's appearance at midnight yesterday had left a deep impression—truly worthy of the name Nightmare.

"What about other sequence starting points in the church? The incomplete ones?"

After learning about the complete pathway possessed by the Church of Evernight, Klein wanted to know about other pathways.

Hearing Klein's inquiry, Rozanne thought for a moment and sighed:

"I'm not too interested in this aspect, so I don't know much. I only know that Old Neil's Sequence 9 is called 'Mystery Pryer'! He told me about 'Mystery Pryer' himself."

Mystery Pryer? One who pries into secrets? Sounds very mysterious...

Klein's heart stirred slightly as he subconsciously compared this potion name with the Audience, Fortune Teller, Sailor, and Sleepless that he knew.

"I also know another Sequence 7 name—the kind with an incomplete pathway!"

Seeing Klein fall into silence, Rozanne thought again and spoke up.

"What is it?"

Klein was exceptionally curious about another Sequence 7 potion name.

Rozanne showed a sweet smile and answered somewhat proudly:

"Spirit Medium!"

"Lady Daly?" Klein subconsciously asked.

The moment he heard this potion name, he thought of that eerily beautiful spirit medium.

Rozanne's eyes widened as she looked at Klein suspiciously:

"You know her?"

"I've met Lady Daly."

Klein didn't hide it.

"You've met her?"

Rozanne carefully looked Klein up and down and asked with a smile:

"How was it? Is Lady Daly very beautiful? Did you feel your heart flutter?"

"Mm, Lady Daly is indeed very beautiful."

Recalling that "Spirit Medium" with blue eyeshadow and blush, possessing an enchanting beauty, Klein smiled and responded.

"Well, give up on this idea early. Don't say I didn't warn you—Lady Daly likes the captain. You have no chance."

"Lady Daly likes the captain?"

Hearing Rozanne's advice, Klein was somewhat surprised. He hadn't expected that lady who was comparable to a veteran would actually like a man like the captain, who seemed very rigid...

"Of course! We all know—uh, except for the captain. I suspect whether his forgetful brain will ever realize in his lifetime that Lady Daly likes him..."

Rozanne muttered quietly, expressing doubt about Dunn.

Hearing Rozanne's complaints about Dunn Smith, Klein was about to agree with a few words when he suddenly heard ethereal prayer sounds by his ear.

That voice was very familiar to him—it was Hermes's voice.

The corner of his mouth slightly raised. Klein looked at Rozanne and smiled:

"Sorry, I need to use the washroom. We'll chat again later."

Locking the washroom door, Klein took four steps counterclockwise in the narrow space and once again came above the gray fog.

In the enormous and majestic palace, Klein witnessed a virtual, hazy door appearing behind his high-backed chair. At the same time, he also felt his spiritual power rippling out wave by wave, stimulating this mysterious space.

"This is sacrifice? So magical... seems like I can..." Klein suddenly had a premonition and immediately extended his own spirit, joining the oscillation and stimulation.

Crash!

Accompanied by a headache and unreal sounds, that hazy door slowly opened!

Six yellowed papers flew out from that virtual door and fell straight onto the bronze long table in front of him.

"Phew, really painful..."

Feeling the stabbing pain in his mind, Klein closed the sacrifice door the moment the items emerged.

He wasn't even an Extraordinary now—completely insufficient to maintain the sacrifice door for a long time. If he insisted on holding on, there would be only one outcome: mental collapse and immediate death.

"Must become an Extraordinary, otherwise I can't stand it being like this every time. Where can I find a Fortune Teller potion? Does Hermes know?

This guy doesn't know what he's doing either—seems to be hiding some secret I don't know about. Could it be related to the Celestial Worthy of Heaven and Earth for Blessings?

Can I really trust what he said..."

Looking at the six diary pages in front of him, Klein's face showed a smile. Including the three Roselle diary pages he had just seen with Old Neil, he had encountered nine Roselle diary pages in one day.

Also, let me mention something very amusing. Are some people really treating Evernight and Tyrant as white lotuses?

Don't they know that George III wants to become a god? Even Hotpot can see it, but they can't?

How could Ince Zangwill, a Sequence 5, just take 0-08 and run? How could he so coincidentally get Azik's son's corpse to make characteristics?

And I have such great malice toward them. Isn't Evernight and Tyrant being terrible real? Slave trade, Backlund Great Smog, Northern Continent War—weren't all these done with their tacit consent?

Not to mention whether the Forsaken Land of the Gods was created by them.

How come dead people aren't people anymore? Are you also like Adam with "necessary sacrifices"?

And the Black Emperor coming out to fight the Outer Gods—you really think highly of the true gods. The original work's Klein said that all gods going up and being able to hold back one or two Outer Gods would be a miracle. How is your Black Emperor special?

George III and Zaratul were tools from beginning to end, weren't they? One was a tool given free characteristics by Adam; one was an experience pack released by Evernight for the protagonist to level up.

When George III became a god, even his own ancestor William was slacking off. The one who really helped him was Grove, whom he looked down upon. Laughable.

And saying I wrote Mr. Door with double standards—Mr. Door has the Fallen Mother Goddess above and Storm and Evernight sealing him below. How do you want me to write it? Can the protagonist handle it now?

From beginning to end, there was only one true god who really accomplished something in Mysteries, and that was the true Creator. Klein can count as half.
